All those final fantasy games with their sticks and stones and here we got flippin' motorcycles airraiding a flippin' flying academy like it's nobody's business. Heck, I loved FF8.
Balamb garden was kicking ass that day. Got to love those spells, guns, and swords. LMAO at the Balamb student who knocked the guy off the bike with a sword @4:18
Though you have to give those Galbadia bikers credit, too. Launching themselves by rockets over a tremendous gap, skidding along the rim of the enemy ship, and just cruising in for battle? That takes some guts.
@@SubremedyI mean, in FF7, a giant meteor was summoned to destroy the planet. Not to mention the alien with the ability to basically siphon the planet's energy until it basically explodes. What are you talking about? I'm a much bigger fan of FF8, but you can't just go and lie about that.
(I know this is late but Final Fantasy VIII in a Nutshell made me search this) Remember when Final Fantasy was a series that released more than two games per decade?
Yeah, I noticed that too. Back when I first played the demo for FF8 and my only experience with the series was FF7 I just assumed that the game took place in the same setting. Shinra-looking soldiers didn't exactly help :3
Wow, I always loved this intense scene, it would have been nice if they made a scene library in the game. but now that I have read some of the comments made me see more in detail of what is going on with the other fighters and doing what... glad this is video is here.
At 4:05 there's a guy with a spear, he's badass, and at 4:09 there's a girl sword fighting with a soldier and she completely destroys him, and of course we all noticed 4:18
Don't forget the Ice bowling-ball at 4:03 - 4:08. Starting in the top-left corner as the camera pans, a girl runs a few paces and then does a long wind-up to send Ice into the background.
if i remember correctly those galbadia guys had nuclear cruise missiles just a while ago, and now they engage this thing with dudes on motorcycles and these strange jet suits?
FF8 had a lot of scenes like that; it really gave a very unique experience, almost like the game overcame its assumed limitations and did whatever it felt like doing.
No you don't. FFX was the last good thing from Squaresoft. They ruined the VII remake and it's obvious they don't understand their own material since they are just spamming Sephiroth all the time because "omg Sephiroth am I right fans?"
@@konverzny FF7R only sucked because of 2 major reasons. 1 Being a part one they ended up showing Sephiroth way too early and ruined the omninous ASF intro he has in the Shinra building with the masamune in President Shinras body and 2 the remakes Director was Tetsuo Nomura who couldn't help adding some Kingdom Hearts bullcrap into the game in the form of the whispers and Arbiters of Fate. Personally I would have spent the Part 1 game building Sephiroth up, never saying he is actually alive but alluding to a man in black, could even have the remenants acting more like a cult revering the reunion and heading to the promised land. I would keep Sephiroths original indirect introduction with the masamune through Shinras corspe but add Cloud actually being startled and freaking out a little in disbelief that Sephiroth could be alive. After escaping Midgar Cloud explains the the Nibelheim incident flash back and you actually see and fight Sephiroth for the first time in said flashback as both Cloud and Zack. I would continue the game bit by bit as it was in the original with the midgar serpent, RedX IIIs back story with Nanaki, introducing Cait Sith and Cid as normal but introduce Yuffie and Vincent via new story points (like actually have Yuffie steal all their stuff and the party needs to capture her or something and the party investigates the Nibelheim manor ruins to find Vincent locked in up the basement.) I would progress the story to the point where they get to the temple of the ancients where the party would fight Sephiroth leading to the events of Aeriths death, Sephiroth would then summon Jenova for you to fight while he escape leaving the end of part one with everyone bidding Aerith farewell as they return her to the planet and Cloud vowing to avenge her and stop Sephiroth. (You could even add weight to Aeriths death with her trying to talk to Cloud, maybe make Tifa cry. Maybe even make their anguish expressed via dialouge in the Jenova fight)
@@Andrew___P but thats a real remake.... final fantasy 7 remake wasn't really a remake , yes the title said it but its a lie....its a new final fantasy 7 you still need to have played the original to understand the new one , after the final you don't know what will happen going forward , there could even be more deads from the original party and new ones ...we don't know until it comes out, so there wasn't really need to show and tease Sephiroph because you are supposed to already know who he is and what is gonna do and kill!! As much remakes and remasters interest people and we like it they don't sell it as much as we think but we shall see on the part 2 if its true or not because now we know that its gonna be a different story and not what we already know that happens....
It always bothered me how these battle scenes were never expanded upon in the game itself. Outside of this, we never get to see pure sword users, spear users or conventional magic users in the base game for SeeD and machine gun users (save for Laguna), fist users or sword and shield users for the G-Army.
This is the problem with most fiction, for some reason. They never think far enough to bring together the mundane stuff with the special cases. Most of the motorcyclists ride around doing literally nothing. The riflemen shoot at something offscreen, so the scene doesn't have to figure out how to Jedi the SeeD students out of dying. And yet despite this, it still is leaps above most other fantasy or sci-fi battles! Somehow the bar is pretty low, despite millions of dollars being involved.
@@MrCantStopTheRobot Still pisses me off to this day that much of Squaresoft’s budget was divided to make this and Xenogears-another great but incomplete game. 😒
@@CPT85 I feel you, but I can't blame them. They're still just an amoral corporation; it's accidental that Xenogears got partially made at all. No use feeling cheated by something that's designed to maximize profit.
The FFVIII universe is so badass that, in spite of flying buildings, combat robots, space shits and magical creatures, they still use swords in battle!
Actually it was mostly SeeD students vs Galbadian Army (mostly adults). It was revealed later that the army invaded Galbadian school and that the students were forced out

Just imagine this scene received the same treatment that FF7 Remake got
It'll have been amazing!
I would have rather them remake 8 than 7. I think that the stakes are higher and the world is more involved.

3:57 is one of the best moments I've had in Final Fantasy as a whole.
True.
You sometimes forget just how talented these artists were. This was on a darn PS1
PC Game for me
I'd dare say this is probably the most epic moment in PS1 history.
Most epic part of all ff games.
Sensational. My favorite CG scene from the FF series next to the FFX ending. --Love from Brev Spread Magazine
Took me like over a decade to notice that the other garden's soldier have Shinra based uniform

The single best scene from all the final fantasy series without a doubt

PROTECT THE HOT DOGS!!!!
Don't let them have any!
they should make this in a CGI movie but made by ppl who have played the game throughly
man this made me want to play this again...
everyone miss it
Can't wait to see this in full 1080pHD. REMASTER HYPE!!!
....Wrong game bro. 7 is being remade.
8 is getting Remastered, like 9 did
The remaster sucks sadly..

It is bad that we don't have spear user and pure-sword user (rather than gunblade) in party
I like at 2:54 bottom left, a girl is summoning a fire spell
Bummer she got blasted by machine gun dude immediately after

Squall throwing hands with the soldier was based.
In top ten things I look back on in FF history? This is close to the top.
We shouldn't forget that some of these scenes had the playable characters while these were in the background, which added to the immersion.

Legit one of the best scenes in the entire series
