Even from outside of DEI as a fan the chaos and turmoil were evident I felt for everyone there at DEI. It has to hurt tremendously to watch this empire that you had a part in tear itself apart and yet still not understand what you all were going through
Without good leadership you have anarchy and rebellion. Work sucks and good people leave. Major props to Dale and Co for the mature honest conversation.
I fell out of being a fan for a few years when Jr left the Bud 8. I didn't mind that he left DEI, it seemed like a mess. It was not seeing that beautiful red number 8 that bothered me more than anything. I'm over it now, but damn, that was tough.
@@brianhayes7153 nobody was. Ty Norris nor Steve Hmeil were. It was a group effort that was dictated by a woman who did not have good intentions for the team, which spoiled the whole operation. If Jr. was at the helm to give the final say-so on key decisions, the team would have survived. He had the best intentions in mind for the team unlike Teresa. Not to mention that Kelley is as smart as a whip. She would quickly have gotten everything figured out if Jr. couldn’t.
In JRs defense. He’s not the type of person who telling him he’s not good enough, or degrading him, doesn’t motivate him. I’m the same way. Insulting me doesn’t make me feel good when im already beating myself up. The Eurys needed to realize he needed a pick me up, not bash him and insult him.
Truly sad how everything played out. In hindsight, would have been beneficial if there was a plan laid out for the DEI teams to continue without Dale Sr.
Yea Sr’s death was a ginormous loss for DEI since the company was still in its early stages and they depended on him too much if Junior had the skills to own a business like he does now at the time of seniors death DEI would probably still be around today and would probably be the current Hendrick motorsports
I agree but also I have butterflies in my stomach if that's gonna be a reality. Wondering what she's gonna say. How it was hard on her which I by the way feel so sorry for her because I was reading Darrell Waltrips "Sundays Will Never Be The Same" and my heart sank after Darrell wrote something that Teresa said at the hospital after Dales death but also looking at his dead body and she said something like "Tell me what should I do?" And after reading that quote from Teresa from Darrells book my heart sank and made me tear up like Wade from "Ready Player One" after knowing that James Halliday is really dead. But if that's possible for Teresa to be on all we can do is pray for some good will happen and make sure that there's at least a sorta peace treaty between Dale Jr. Kelley and Kerry. I hope that there will be peace and some closure but give Teresa our respect for her privacy after all the turmoil that has happened since the 2001 Daytona 500 because she went through a lot than any of us could have imagined and how it came to her unexpectedly out of the blue.... I still feel sorry for her in every aspect known to man on this earth and in this universe....

DEI simply imploded. It would be an epic interview to hear Teresas side of it. after these interviews, that's the only piece we are missing. I think with Jr's sense of handling an interview, it could be cordial and honest. I hope it happens someday.
Hell will freeze over hard before this ever happens. Teresa’s disdain for Sr’s 3 elder children is as strong as it’s ever been…and she’s done nothing to hide it. When a woman hauls her late husband’s first-born son into court to attempt to prevent the man from using his birthright to operate his business, that tells me everything I need to know about her.
You folks need to find a way to get Teresa in the studio to tell her side. I bet it would be one of the highest watched episodes. Get her side. Then to top it off, get Taylor Nicole in there to get her take on the whole thing. Bring the podcast full circle with the family dynamic some 20 years later.
if dale had never died granite i think alot of current drivers and past ones wouldve passed or gotten injured from what we learned. DEI woukd have alot of race and championship wins
They had the 04 Championship in the bag (even with the mechanical failures) until Carl Edwards wrecked them in Atlanta. Edwards wasn't even in contention for the race win or championship and he wouldn't give an inch on the corner exit and turned Jr. He even admitted it in the post race interview. He showed zero respect for a veteran driver. Also, yes Dale was immature like most young men. He had the heaviest weight on his shoulders. And Tony jr constantly doubted him. I remember him fighting with Dale on the radio cause Dale wanted him to run the next set of tires with a third of a pound less of air pressure. He starts yelling how that won't make any difference and how stupid of an idea it was. Other successful crew chiefs would make those small changes, but he wouldn't. But that team made everyone else look bad in 2004.
the crew chief does not have to make the air adjustment if he feels it will not make a difference. but he should tell the driver you are right, i will get right on that for you. crew chief need to make driver feel like he is unbeatable.
I’d love to hear Teresa’s version of things. Clearly she messed things up but her world was gone. I’d just be interested if she regrets any of it or still hardheaded
Given she locked the shop and hasn't let many in I think she is still lost. Hard for all sides but most would like to have seen Jr. and Kelly be able to have some control over the company. Realistically Jr. wasn't the Man he is now either.
I was definitely a fan of senior, but he was human like the rest of us. He made some bad decisions in regard to his children and imo his choice of his last wife. Teresa showed her colors early that she was not a fan of his kids and Dale sr spent lots of time pacifying and ducking her, instead of standing up to her about the kids. He had to have an inkling how things would play out when he was gone, but like most of us he didn't think that day would come soon. I'm definitely NOT a fan of Teresa, but her world did implode when senior died. I'm sure she was grieving and in shock, yet still had to run a company. IMO her arrogance was a big factor as she should've stepped aside and appointed someone else to run DEI and make decisions but she didn't. I think she's greedy and distrustful too. Possibly, in her grief, she wouldn't step aside because DEI was Sr legacy and she held too tight. I do think that's the main reason she's so unhinged about his name, likeness to this day.
I can listen to these DEI stories all day. The history is fascinating. I always learn something that I didn't know back then. ❤
I love hearing all the differnt angles of these stories from so many ppl. I miss dale. Wish i had known him on a personal lvl

Well said
The Steve hmiel interview was the best interview of the year.
Steve Hmiel is such a nice guy.

Man my father was such a fan of the that race team. Followed from the delco yrs. Never was the same though without the car owner.
I never lost faith. A fan since the Bud car with the black roof lol
A fan since Busch . The 31 car first time I saw you
If Teresa let Jr. And Kelley take control of the ship in 2008, the company would have certainly rebounded. What a shame.
So true
Yes indeed
Dale Jr wasn’t capable of running a company at that time. He’s said so himself. And besides, it was Teresa’s to do with what she wanted.

I dont think Jr was mature enough at the time.
It's kinda ironic how it came full circle with Steve.

It seems Theresa went against Dale sr's wishes of the heart. Shame Sr didn't lock it down legally on paper by court filing.

i hate to say this but teresa would be an interesting interview

one thing about Jr he will admit to being wrong at times
Is there a platform where you can listen to the podcast uncensored?

felt so sorry for Taylor
Dale would have told Dale Jr and Tony Euri Sr I'm not changing crew chief. You two need two work this out between yourselves.

People become the man or woman that’s achieving greatness when they find themselves in the circumstances that demand it.
Once sr. Passed away dei was for jr to carry on the legacy
For whatever reason she did not see this that being the owner whom i wont mention her name
She said she had a daughter to raise . So she did for her child
I remember I laughed about all the morons who tattooed "8" somewhere on their bodies. They are all now Kyle Busch fans.
I doubt that..they probably added another 8 when he drove for Hendrick..😅
@@alanstackhouse2939 Different style number.
Think about us dale jarret fans when he added the extra 8. I can't believe yates gave up the 88 number.
Hey is jr going to try and buy anything from the Winston cup museum sell??????
👍
now drive it.
I can tell you right now how, where the 23xi is, the sound is, stay in your office,
lost... I can get you the best car.
Teresa never wanted his children to be in Dale Sr. life. Unfortunately she is greedy and bitter.
Agreed. In Teresa world Sr only had one child and that was Taylor.
Tried to warn you Jr
DEI without DE makes no sense.
Teresa, Teresa, Teresa😈😈

Umm, trusting that Teresa wasn't useless?
She was just looking for more money!
She was just trying to find her makeup!
Teresa's greed destroyed DEI.
Elvis Jr is out there im not him I'm Joey Harra
With all due respect im not Graceland
