I have a similar situation.
I went to a full blown lake for the first time in high altitude conditions. I first heard this song while walking back to timeshare before getting on call with an ex friend of mine. It was Summer and we were gathering with some of our family. My uncle has cancer, so we were doing our best to spend time with him and make him happy. My mom was working for our school district in a week long meeting thing, so she didn’t get to see him for very long. I was walking by the fenced off the pool in the purple jacket I’m wearing right now, thinking about the same character I’m imagining this to right now, plus my other main character as the one for the animation idea. I almost forgot this song existed because I was frustrated at the time and needed a break, but I’m so happy to be back and less conflicted as I was then.
