I discovered the balloon trick back in freedom unite... after tons of times of seeing the ballong floating i decided to wave at it just to goof around... cassualy I had lost the monster and it showed me the location XD t'was a magical momment
One thing may be noted that a few people may have missed, is the ability to skip the death cutscene by pressing skip in the top right of the touch screen. It's the same as using the Felyne Kitchen or sending out hunters on quests. Not a big thing but may help people get the few precious seconds they need when running to carve Moh'rans.
I'm new to monster hunter and I knew all except for the balloon and evade climb trick. The rest are the sort of thing you can find out with logic. Also don't try crouching while gathering with a bug net or pickaxe, because you stand in the animations and it sets you back up standing.
I already knew all of these...after learning them from other people who knew them. They're the kind of things that I probably wouldn't figure out myself. Except the items-on-walls thing. That I noticed fairly easily.
You missed one thing, when talking about the wall jumping. If you press B to drop off the wall and then B again, while against the wall, you can do a shorter wall jump and it works from any height, so long as you are falling against a wall. It works well for when the monster is right against the wall attacking you, and the A jump goes too far.
+BotanicSage [BS] I'm far more inclined to continue playing this now that I know the slam master plays it too. I must be part of the cool kids club of course.
I learned about #5 after trying to sort the item pouch. The rest of them are entirely new to me, but since I'm new to the series that's to be expected. Thanks for making these helpful videos, they're really great.
Kage Yul Hey, I only had like 250 hours on MHFU, and that consisted entirely out of me playing solo w/o any reference to a guide whatsoever. It was just so awesome discovering everything by myself.
Awesome video, that wall jump combo is flipping awesome. Even though the crouching to gather thing might seem silly to some it's that kind of attention to detail that has always given me a deep reverence for the MH series.
And I have another tip for you! When you kill dare moran you can see the end of his tongue (4:10 in the video). Now you can crouch, carve from his body, move 1 cm to the left and carve again!
Im a vetaran since MH1. most of those things have been around since gen1 and gen2 (idk when you started but you mentioned that yourself) but I can only agree, often when I explain thing like that to friends who played MH for some time, they are completely unaware of stuff like that. spreading those little things can help making ur life as a hunter easier alot
Didn't know a single thing....I think more basics videos like this would be AMAZING! There are so many mechanics of MH that I just don't know...I'd been treating it like Dungeon Hunter (Mobile), and that's just a mindless hack and slash...didn't take time to set anything up at all....there are so many basics that just aren't really explained within the game, so things like this help a ton! Thanks!
some of these tips have been around since monster hunter freedom; it's the continued little things in this game that make it so big. another handy tip that I would like to share is that when a monster is asleep, the next hit it takes is 3 times stronger, so plant some bombs and let a wyvern fire, a super hammer slam or great sword charge take the honor.
Here's another one from a Vet, let's say that you don't want to jump/feel that you too far up to do a landing (Stage Dive) you can drop from the wall with (B) then hit (X) at the RIGHT TIME and you will push off the wall going forward about 10-12 feet into the Monster.
I found the channel thanks to the tutorials and loved, thank you for all your useful videos, and even if they don't have a lot of likes, please continue doing it
I actually just recently found out about the roll into a wall about two days ago. I learned to crouch and carve in 3U, and binging the map in my early 4U guild rank quests. I had forgotten completely about eating while on the wall. Thanks, although I think it would work with smaller monsters.
I already knew all those tips, but I still gave you a like, because this video is extremely helpful for people who are new to Monster Hunter or new to MH4U.
Very fitting how the advertisment before the video was about MH4U. Anyway, I knew three things, the signal, items while climbing and the hot-air balloon (but that one is something I read somewhere so I don't find it out by myself but anyway, it's also explained ingame when you need to hunt a smaragd congolala).
knew all of it pretty much, though if i may add regarding the wall-jump trick he taught, i figured a quicker method if you're coming from a higher area from the wall. pressing B while wall-hanging drops you off straight into the ground. pressing A while this happens re-attaches you onto the wall, but pressing X will allow you to jump off the wall, a la Megaman X wall-jumping, which you can chain into a mount attack. hope that helps someone! :D
I only knew about the one you can use a item while climbing - and that because you tipped it off in a previous video. I also knew about the faster gathering while crouching a while ago, on a previous MH game, but totally forgot it! Tks!
Thanks for the tips! I'm completely new to the Monster Hunter series and only recently purchased Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate! The little tricks about rolling towards a scalable wall and pressing the "A" button really will come in handy in later quests - especially the crouching and gathering. Like I said, complete newcomer here, so mahalo once again. :)
Didn't know any of these. I am a greenhorn hunter... 4U is my first game... and it won't be my last. Thanks for these tips. It will help me in my hunts.
Cool Tips, another one is you can give any item rare 3 or below to other players in your party, be it in the gathering hall or in game. Great for sharing for example max potions, or ammo mats.
Thank you so much, I already knew about the balloon, but that's about it. Everything else you showed in this video was news to me. Those tips were awesome. Also, I'm surprised you didn't cover hopping while climbing, you can mix it with the roll. So you roll, climb, hop up once, jump then slash. Again, thanks for the tips.
I haven't had a chance to check out your other videos, and... you have a lot of them. Do any of your videos cover Bait Traps ( Drugged Meat / Tinged Meat etc. ) I've never been able to use them effectively in any of the games, and was hoping you would have a tutorial on that.
Also a lil tip if the three kill limit is still there you could flip the wulan switch right before the third death allowing your comrades to continue the mission without fail
I knew all of these except for the rolling to the wall thing, and I've always been skeptical about the crouching while gathering thing, not that big of a deal, but I guess it helps get that last carve or two against large monster such as Dah'ren Moran or the Dalamaderp.
I love it that if you use the Longsword you can now do a fade slash and chain right into the spirit combo turining you into a death machine If you know what openings to take.
number 5 is called signal, and you can use it to make your palico(s) go to you so the monsters will go to your location, this is the reason why it's automatically used when you set a trap.
The only thing I didn't know was that Dahren Moran (I don't know how to spell that) had two separate carving areas. However, you're tutorial would have made a huge difference when I first started playing, as it had all the little tricks I picked up from watching and reading tutorials over a timespan of two weeks. Good hints.
I always wondered what those balloons were for. Good to know they're actually useful. Thanks for all these tips! MH4U is my first Monster Hunter game and I'm highly addicted to it :)
I actually knew about all of these, for the most part. This being said, I just assumed that's what the signal was for, and the eating while hanging thing I found out by accident, but the other three I was told by other players.
I knew you could signal but didn't remember how, and I almost never used the balloon waving thing because I was usually lucky enough (or unlucky enough depending on your perspective) to run into the monster right away, or I just know where they live and sleep at night.....
You can also drink potions with your sword and shield out... just found this out yesterday and i think it applies to lances and gunlances as well. You have to be blocking(holding R button) to do it
just found out about the balloon yesterday, didn't know about the roll climb though, this will save lives so thanks. Same with the start X ping, but I already have a button for it.
You could also add that the ping will make the Palicos run back to you, very handy if they are fighting a boss while you are trying to get that boss to a bomb or a trap.
I discovered the balloon trick back in freedom unite... after tons of times of seeing the ballong floating i decided to wave at it just to goof around... cassualy I had lost the monster and it showed me the location XD t'was a magical momment
*balloon
Unholy Devourer Of All Worlds don't be like that dude

I've been playing for a couple THOUSAND hours and I didn't know the balloon trick lol
I'm new to monster hunter and I knew all except for the balloon and evade climb trick. The rest are the sort of thing you can find out with logic. Also don't try crouching while gathering with a bug net or pickaxe, because you stand in the animations and it sets you back up standing.

6 years later and i still learn new things.
wait what? brb trying this...
edit: it does not work. i'm not sure what i was expecting...
I did not know that dodging into wall tech. Good to know.
+BotanicSage [BS] I'm far more inclined to continue playing this now that I know the slam master plays it too. I must be part of the cool kids club of course.
the waving at ballons blew my mind
I learned about #5 after trying to sort the item pouch. The rest of them are entirely new to me, but since I'm new to the series that's to be expected. Thanks for making these helpful videos, they're really great.
I'm a veteran, and I didn't know the first 4 things. Cheers!
for as long as us vets play MH there's always something yet to be known or seen.
Josh d
And that's what makes MH so great.
Lewa500 the ping and the baloon have been in the gameseries from the begining on i think ,thought this was common knowlege to "veterans"
Kage Yul
Baloons wer'ent on the original MH, so only those who have played the psp games would know that one
Kage Yul

Awesome video, that wall jump combo is flipping awesome. Even though the crouching to gather thing might seem silly to some it's that kind of attention to detail that has always given me a deep reverence for the MH series.
That balloon trick has now changed my life. That's amazing! I've been looking for those darn Gypceros for 20 minutes!
Wow I've been playing for over 200 hours and didn't know half those things. Nice job!
To be fair, there's a lot this game doesn't explain.
+Matthew Hasemore ive played over 1000h and know..yeah all xD
+Some Guy exactly like all those tickets that you get and you're so clue what to do with them and you have to many that's taking up space
I didn't know about the roll into walls thing. Very helpful!
I'm super new to MH, and this has been amazingly useful. Thank you!
Didn't know about eating while climbing or the quick-ping, but those are all useful obscure tricks! Always makes me happy to see videos like this.
holy crap lol ive been playing monster hunter since the ps2 days and i only now find out about that waving at the ballon thing lol
I'm totally new to Monster Hunter, so I just knew one of them (the crouching). So this video helped a lot, thanks!
Woah, that balloon wave is awesome.. I didn't know that one.
The only one I knew was pinging the map...
Your videos have been super-helpful, particularly the charge blade tutorial. It's now my favorite weapon.
I knew all of these, but great video nonetheless! I'm sure newer players appreciate videos like this.
I'm an MH Veteran, though new to MH4U. I knew about most of these, except the waving at Palico Balloon to find the Monster, very cool!
I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT NUMBER THREE. That is gonna be useful. thanks.
the wall jump and crouching blew my mind !!! god bless
I just started playing Monster Hunter with this most recent version and these tips are gonna help so much especially the "Wall Jump". Thanx a lot!
Did not know about waving at the balloon and climbing walls with your weapon out! Very helpful video!
And I have another tip for you! When you kill dare moran you can see the end of his tongue (4:10 in the video). Now you can crouch, carve from his body, move 1 cm to the left and carve again!
Nice! I knew all except for the roll to grab onto the wall straight away, which is a pretty valuable trick. Glad to have watched, thanks!
I knew the crouch carving and the wall potion, but the others... MIND BLOWN!!! Specially the balloon one.
I didn't know about the rolling into the wall with your weapon drawn. THAT is very useful!
Pings can also be put down on the touch screen as a button. It also gets the Palicoes' attentions.
New to the series and finding some of this stuff to be super helpful. Thank you for making this video.
Here's another one from a Vet, let's say that you don't want to jump/feel that you too far up to do a landing (Stage Dive) you can drop from the wall with (B) then hit (X) at the RIGHT TIME and you will push off the wall going forward about 10-12 feet into the Monster.
I knew all of these, then again I did spend over two thousand hours on monster hunter freedom unite before I got my 3DS.
Chay McCabe Correction, two thousand hours, learn to read before you attempt to insult people you arrogant, illiterate little shit.
Chay McCabe I played this game ages ago when I was just a kid, and unlike you I can actually get a nice girl, not the skanks you go for.
FuryRC well said
Couldn't have said it better myself.
We all know he's a troll people, Just saying.
I knew only crouching and gathering/carving...super great tips man! Appreciate the video!
The climbing trick is especially helpful. Thank you for making my hunting experience fun.
Wow, I just begin for the first time MH4U and this are pretty good tricks, thanks
I'm relatively new to MH, being 3U my first... numbers 1, 2 and 3 look really helpful to me... thanks a bunch
Great video man. Keep the destiny/mobster hunter 4U videos coming!
I didn't know any of those, thanks for taking the time to upload these tips. Number three is going to be the most useful for me.
I did not know about the item useage climbing and the roll while weapon is equiped to climb, good stuff thank you!
I found the channel thanks to the tutorials and loved, thank you for all your useful videos, and even if they don't have a lot of likes, please continue doing it
i honestly didnt know about the wall jump! super helpful!!
Only knew about the climbing + potion tips before, great tips!!
I only knew one of those tips already, great video!
I didn't know any of these. Thank you for the excellent videos!

Some incredibly useful information here, #3 blew my mind
Nice, the crouch one and the wall trick is new to me.

I didn't know any of those and they do seem very helpful, thank you.
I'm pretty new to the hunt, so a lot of this was really useful! For sure going to use the wall roll into mount attempt!
I started at MH3U, but there were still two of these I didn't know. Thanks!
Your videos are super useful! Thanks man!
I knew about #4 but not the others. Especially the crouching gathering and the balloon might come in handy. Thanks for the info! :D
Thanks for the tips! I'm completely new to the Monster Hunter series and only recently purchased Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate!

I am a greenhorn hunter... 4U is my first game... and it won't be my last.
Thanks for these tips. It will help me in my hunts.
That first one is actually really helpful, thanks. I was considering adding the ping to my touch-screen, but I didn't want to use up the space.
Cool Tips, another one is you can give any item rare 3 or below to other players in your party, be it in the gathering hall or in game. Great for sharing for example max potions, or ammo mats.
Thanks!! Didn't know about the 8 carves.
I didn't know any of these!
Thanks man!
Only knew the carving one! thanks for the info!

Didn't know about the dodge climb. Very useful.

I've finished MH on PS2. Now started this. Soon there will be MHX. Can't wait. I didn't know any of those tips. Thanx :)

Huge help for me who is new but now a huge fan thanks
Awesome tips, This my first Monster Hunter game, so all help is greatly appreciated.
I love it that if you use the Longsword you can now do a fade slash and chain right into the spirit combo turining you into a death machine If you know what openings to take.
i didnt know about the balloon one very useful thanks for that

This is my first Monster Hunter game. I've logged about 100 hours. I knew about the wall item consumption, but not the rest. Very useful! Thanks!

However, you're tutorial would have made a huge difference when I first started playing, as it had all the little tricks I picked up from watching and reading tutorials over a timespan of two weeks. I'm new to the series, but they mention the balloon thing in the solo story at one point. Potions on walls, too.
i dint know about 3 and 4 which are pretty useful. thanks for the video
I always wondered what those balloons were for. Good to know they're actually useful. Thanks for all these tips! MH4U is my first Monster Hunter game and I'm highly addicted to it :)

This is soooo helpful! I'm new to Monster Hunter.
sick Great tips , never new on the carving one and rolls =] , keep it up bro!
This was very useful. I only started playing since MHU3 so I don't know the game all that well.
You have to be blocking(holding R button) to do it
redhedgamer Only SnS has that ability.
just found out about the balloon yesterday, didn't know about the roll climb though, this will save lives so thanks. Same with the start X ping, but I already have a button for it.
I knew number 2 but didn't know you can jump off as soon as you get on the wall. Thanks for all the tips :D
I didn't know any of these. Brilliant!
Number 2 OMG. This changes everything!
WOOOOOWW!!! 3 and 2 are mind blowing to me. Thank you!
You could also add that the ping will make the Palicos run back to you, very handy if they are fighting a boss while you are trying to get that boss to a bomb or a trap.
