The justice system is pardoning the former president for espionage, endangering our national security, and instigating a coup. The majority in Congress is actually guilty of treason per our Constitution. It's not a possibility or even probability. The problem with Orban is that he's faced no real consequences. As an EU citizen, I believe the EU has a responsibility to protect the integrity of our union by taking action against leaders like him. Orban's behavior keeps escalating-he blocked Sweden's NATO membership until they gave him fighter jets, and now he's planning to allow Russians and Belarusians into Hungary, and by extension the entire Schengen area, with just a national ID, no passport required. This is a serious security risk, and Hungary needs to be expelled from both NATO and the EU immediately. On top of that, Orban even met with Trump while Biden was president, which is not only inappropriate but illegal in the U.S., and it's a disgrace for the EU. This behavior can't go unchecked. Either Orban leaves, or the entire Hungarian nation does. We need to protect our democracy on both sides of the Atlantic, this is a common fight.

I watched this for the first time today.....and after the results of the election, I'm honestly at this moment in time, I've had my faith in America and its people and in particular those that will be most affected - blacks and Latino's - somewhat vanquished. We went into this with our eyes wide open. We all saw what we saw, we all heard what we heard.

You know what is really sad? I know more than one person who went and cast a vote for him, and they have never watched his speeches, rallies or interviews. I've watched them all and my opinion of him comes from everything that he has said and done himself, not what anyone has said about him. One of his voters said "you're being manipulated by the media, you should be stronger than that". I believe that's the mentality of a lot of people who voted for him, they don't take on the responsibility to know things for themselves because they don't trust themselves, so they don't listen to anything but the things they soak up from the people around them.

I fully agree with mrs. Cox. All her comments and explanations reflect my experience living in a faschist system. The really bad news from me for you educated, liberal Americans out there is that you have certainly 40 % of your population who are totally fine to live in an authoritarian system. Because of the concept of abdication . abdication of responsibility. This is the real poison that will destroy your society. And unfortunately over the times you’ll have additional 20-30 % who will adapt to such society. Therefore Prof Cox predicted that the return of democracy won’t happen in her lifetime. I spent 3 years in the US in the 90‘s and back argued that there was a concrete risk for the country to slip into authoritarianism (as a German, I guess I am oversensitive). My friends laughed off any such prospect, I.e. the US culture was intrinsically immune to fascism. And that lack of awareness of potential slippery slope is the exact reason why fascism could take over in a lightning. It took the NSDAP exactly less than two months to turn a (polarized) Weimar Republic into a one-party state. Don’t ever believe it „cannot happen here“
Also the European democracies that were built out of the ruins of WWII have more solid democratic institutions. Proportional representation eg has its issues but it avoids a minority to take control of the country. The US still relies on an institutional structure that is more 200 years old and it shows. It’s the electoral college that allowed Trump to become president even when he lost the popular vote. It’s the senate that allows republicans to exercise an overinflated influence on US politics compared to their actual votes share. Not to mention scotus. Too many weak spots that bad actors can exploit to their advantage.

The problem with Orban is that he's faced no real consequences. As an EU citizen, I believe the EU has a responsibility to protect the integrity of our union by taking action against leaders like him. Orban's behavior keeps escalating-he blocked Sweden's NATO membership until they gave him fighter jets, and now he's planning to allow Russians and Belarusians into Hungary, and by extension the entire Schengen area, with just a national ID, no passport required. This is a serious security risk, and Hungary needs to be expelled from both NATO and the EU immediately.
On top of that, Orban even met with Trump while Biden was president, which is not only inappropriate but illegal in the U.S., and it's a disgrace for the EU. This behavior can't go unchecked. Either Orban leaves, or the entire Hungarian nation does. We need to protect our democracy on both sides of the Atlantic, this is a common fight.

I watched this for the first time today.....and after the results of the election, I'm honestly at this moment in time, I've had my faith in America and its people and in particular those that will be most affected - blacks and Latino's - somewhat vanquished.
We went into this with our eyes wide open. We all saw what we saw, we all heard what we heard.

You know what is really sad? I know more than one person who went and cast a vote for him, and they have never watched his speeches, rallies or interviews. I've watched them all and my opinion of him comes from everything that he has said and done himself, not what anyone has said about him. I believe that's the mentality of a lot of people who voted for him, they don't take on the responsibility to know things for themselves because they don't trust themselves, so they don't listen to anything but the things they soak up from the people around them.

The really bad news from me for you educated, liberal Americans out there is that you have certainly 40 % of your population who are totally fine to live in an authoritarian system. Because of the concept of abdication . abdication of responsibility. This is the real poison that will destroy your society. I spent 3 years in the US in the 90‘s and back argued that there was a concrete risk for the country to slip into authoritarianism (as a German, I guess I am oversensitive). My friends laughed off any such prospect, I.e. the US culture was intrinsically immune to fascism. And that lack of awareness of potential slippery slope is the exact reason why fascism could take over in a lightning. It took the NSDAP exactly less than two months to turn a (polarized) Weimar Republic into a one-party state. Don’t ever believe it „cannot happen here“
Also the European democracies that were built out of the ruins of WWII have more solid democratic institutions. Proportional representation eg has its issues but it avoids a minority to take control of the country. The US still relies on an institutional structure that is more 200 years old and it shows. It’s the electoral college that allowed Trump to become president even when he lost the popular vote. It’s the senate that allows republicans to exercise an overinflated influence on US politics compared to their actual votes share. Not to mention scotus. Too many weak spots that bad actors can exploit to their advantage.
Those who want this will soon regret it when the people they choose to do this comes after them...
