I am indeed! Got at least one more video in the chamber, and hope to get back to some irregular posting now. Been away for a year and feel I’ve got some recharged batteries!
This is out of topic, but can you make a video of Umi Yukaba (海行かば)? To my knowledge, it's the second national anthem of Japan and it sounds very monarchist. 海行かば umi yukaba 水漬く屍 midzuku kabane 山行かば yama yukaba 草生す屍 kusa musu kabane 大君の oo kimi no 辺にこそ死なめ heni koso shiname かえりみはせじ kaerimi wa seji
Politically, very little. The Ugandan government have gone to great lengths to prevent the monarchies having any sort of political or administrative power, so that they don’t pose a threat. Uganda is an authoritarian state, with President Museveni having been in power since 1986. The monarchies continue to however effectively run parallel governments which deal with cultural matters. Buganda for example has its own parliament (which you can see some clips of in the video), prime minister, cabinet of ministers, and is effectively a state within a state. It just only deals with cultural matters, because otherwise Museveni would crack down. He imprisoned the King of Rwenzururu when the Rwenzururu government attempted to claim some extra powers a few years ago
@@MonarchistMusic Oh dear. That doesn't sound good at all! I think Uganda ought to return to what they had from 1963-1966, where the president was elected by parliamentary vote from among the traditional rulers, with each maintaining executive authority within his own realm. I highly doubt this Museveni fellow will allow it though. Doesn't seem like a very nice guy.
@@Insertnotrealname Indeed, a return to the 1963 arrangements would be ideal, though with some modifications. I think it would be best for the head of state (probably best to give them some other title than president) would be selected by and from the rulers themselves, as is done in Malaysia. Leaving the choice open to parliament would risk a politicisation of the office
@@MonarchistMusic Malaysia’s sovereign’s title literally translates to ‘Supreme Ruler’ or something along those lines. I quite like that title and think it could be adopted here too. As for the election. yes, I agree with the idea a rotation would be a better and simpler way to go. I wouldn’t object to it being done by Parliament either though. It is a position of political leadership, after all. Interestingly, the Malaysian rotation system is entirely conventional and not codified anywhere. Legally, the monarchs elect the supreme monarch from among themselves. It’s just that after they all got a turn, they decided to fix it as the order.
Cant believe that i discovered a new monarchy by monarchist music 😅

How much authority do the Ugandan kings have?

@@Insertnotrealnameyes that is how it should be done, similar to the United Arab Emirates.
