- We aimed the airgun of enquiry at this week’s rock and roll side-stall and dislodged the following coconuts …
… sports star, Rhodes scholar, bohemian: why Kris Kristofferson was a whole new breed of American hero.
… the letter his parents wrote disowning him.
… how he invented the crossover hit.
… echoes of his life in Five Easy Pieces.
… Fellini’s La Strada and the story of ‘Me And Bobby McGee’.
…. ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’ and other songs written to order.
… why the past is the age before mobile phones.
… Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Leonard Cohen, Carly Simon: the kiss and tell school of songwriting.
… why Tracey Thorn misses the age of the autograph.
… who’d be famous in the 21st Century?
… “What do you think about when you’re playing the drums?” Cameron Crowe’s lost 1983 time capsule.
… in a lift with Ken Barlow.
Plus birthday guest Paul Cook and the furthest you’ve ever travelled for a gig.

Went to the Style Council in Liege, utterly brilliant
The tribulations of fame, I saw Ronnie Corbett from the 2 Ronnie's outside a West End theatre around the mid 90's, he was waiting for a cab with likely his wife, I had the time to make eye contact and looked down and said 'Its good night from me' and he replied 'and it's good night from him', what an absolute legend, he seemed to find it funnier than me.
"Bring me SON SHINE!.......oh yes.
Do not forget "Tommy COOOPERAGE SAID
"JUST LIKE THAT"!!!
Brilliant in Kristoferson. Great analysis
Housewife's crumpet! Well, what kind of British bakery comestibles are Mark and David? A slice of gluten-free multigrain and a slice of organic wholemeal ? You be the judge!
Organic WHOLESOME b READ is GOOD.
Better than SEEDY M ALICE.
So I just watched your episode where Chris Difford from Squeeze takes us through a few old diaries giving us a glimpse into his shenanigans 50 years ago, and then in this episode, you say something to the effect of artists reading from diaries that really are just made up. Hmmmm.
Kris at the 1970 IOW festival is worth watching. He was a total unknown essaying country rock two years before it was cool offering a song called Blame it on the Stones. Let's say the audience wasn't into irony and he had to flee the stage followed by a hail of debris. Don't think he was the first choice for Heavens Gate but his career did survive the biggest cinematic turkey of the 70's
Kris and Joni really? Chapter 33+1
