    Great video! Use a thicker nap roller and it'll take less coats of paint. Plus it'll hide little imperfections. You'll use the same amount of paint, just less work with less coats.

    Your work is one of conviction and patience; I know I lack. I'm in the process of painting our new-old RV Interior, and have run in to those hideous (previously hidden) cracks along the walls and ceilings,, as I've painted; and, with the exceptions of the corner trim in the RV; which do need to be caulked, as you've shown. You've inspired me to replace all the horizontal trim with 11/16th PVC Quarter Round along ceilings and use 11/16 in. x 2-1/4 in. PVC Finger-Jointed Casing Molding for baseboards. Thanks for the heads up! I'll tack and glue the trim work instead. Phew!!

    I'm repainting my interior RV also. Other rv'ers are saying they use a acetone to clean walls before painting. I am doing that then wiping down with water rag. I have found the acetone takes off the pattern in the vinyl covering on the walls. Sweet! They say even after a year the paint job has held up beautifully.

    Great video. I like the sanding idea. Like you, I'm pretty anal when it comes to clean lines and stuff like that. Which is why I don't use anything but Frog Tape for painting. I use the cheap stuff for caulking though. I'm curious if that corner trim still moves on move days and you end up with cracked paint anyways? Again, thanks for the detailed video.

      The corner I used for reference in the video is still doing well after a year and a half. There are some seams in the rig that I will need to recaulk due to cracking though.

    • @ProjectTrek
      @ProjectTrek  3 года назад

      I chose not to caulk the flat seams. While the taped seams DO show up after paint, they seem to be fairly clean and uniform in our rig. You could, but I don’t know that I’d produce a better result than what the seam tape already does.

    Question ate those walls ok to get wet? I have the same wooden walls

    • @ProjectTrek
      @ProjectTrek  3 года назад

      RV walls are typically made out of a material called Luan. Which is some kind of wood/fiber material. I’m not sure how wet you’re talking about, but it’s not a good idea for them to be saturated with any kind of liquid.
      It is happens and is caught immediately you can of course rapidly dry it with fans/dehumidifiers and maybe only have some issues with swelling, but water can easily damage walls.

    I have an idea/question. Couldn't you just remove that cheap crap corner trim completely since your painting and just caulk the corner and paint over without that corner trim?

      You are likely to find some rather large gaps where the two walls meet, or don't, as the case may be. Possibly too large to caulk successfully, and, if caulked, more likely to come apart when the rig is moved.

    Great job. But let me make this a little easier for everyone. No sanding necessary. Good paint will adhere direct without sanding. Also, no primer necessary. Use a self priming paint like HGTV Showtime from Lowe’s. Use two coats.

      I wonder if you have tried Beyond Paint?

    First, stop saying 'silicone' because you CAN NOT paint over silicone. Second, you can clearly see the crack in your finished caulk line. You shouldn't be taping off caulk if your going to be painting it. As you learned, caulking will shrink as it dries and if you don't have feathered edges it will pull away from the surfaces..

      Thanks Andre. I agree. I think when I said it, I was referring to COVID in general just being bullshit. I wholeheartedly agree. I’m just too lazy to go back and edit it out. You’re not the first person to bring that double meaning to my attention.
