    My only fear is that Bricky plays Max Payne. I like hearing the character’s narration (even if it is redundant), and even like the voice acting. But boy if he thinks it’s dumb then any Remedy game is gonna seem super goofy. And I’d hate to see one of my favorite series get trashed on by a personality I enjoy

      @cregerbot8217 10 месяцев назад +17

      I don't think there's been a single big Remedy game that hasn't had even a bit of internal narration. Max Payne because he says cool stuff and his voice was awesome (RIP James), Alan Wake because he's an angsty writer who just happens to get the opportunity to write reality too (His VA got SOOO much better in AW2 - I don't hate AW1s narration, but it definitely had its weak spots), and Control where the internal narration is legit a plot point lol I can't say much for Quantum Break but I am sure there was a form of internal narration there too lol

      Bricky really isn’t the guy to watch play through your favorite games. He’s surprisingly not complex and takes him a while to figure out some simple things anyone else would’ve got.

    Looking back, Alan Wake had a lot of corny dialogue but it's also what makes it funny sometimes. The MC is literally narrating his own fanfiction about how awesome and awkward he was.
    If Stephen King were to make his own movie starring himself as the main character and the narrator, I'd immediately buy that movie for the cheese.

    While I've never really enjoyed the gameplay in AW1 I always found the story fantastic. I'm looking forwards to the future parts and games on this channel.

    The best part is that agent Nightingale was absolutely right to shoot Alan on sight. Not sure, how he found out about the magic before reading the pages, but chances are killing Alan would avoid A LOT of bad shit happening.

    • @bondrewdthenovel3598
      @bondrewdthenovel3598 10 месяцев назад +8

      There is a theory that says that Nightingale was the original main protagonist of "Departure", but Alan discarded him.
      Nightingale is literally a scrap that The Darkness took as a way to capture Alan. It also explains the blind hatred towards the writer.

    Hope this gets a part 2 and maybe even a full vid on the main channel. I absolutely love this game, even went and 100% it right before Alan Wake 2 came out.
    I will say, a little harsh on the criticism (besides the port being crap. It's better on Xbox). I actually really like Alan's VA and the combat is serviceable for a survival horror game.
    Here's a hot take, I prefer Alan Wake 1 over 2, mostly because there's less Alan in 2 and don't really care about Saga.

    Can someone explain what is bad in voice acting of Alan Wake? Im not native speaker and it is the first time someone mentioned it, i really liked voice acting myself, so im just interested.

    • @cregerbot8217
      @cregerbot8217 10 месяцев назад +2

      It depends on who you ask. As a native speaker, I don't think it is awful, he's just very moody and that can come off as sounding weird. I also think the voice actor for Alan (Matthew Poretta) got 100x better in the sequel, that it definitely sounds weird now knowing how much better he has gotten.
      I'd say its not bad, but it had its weak points for sure. The weird faces from the Remastered version of the game also don't help lol

      Alan is being attacked by a demon ghost with a god talking to him and his "no" has absolutely no emotion in it at all. No screams, no heavy breathing, no confusion, nothing. hes practically a robot. I think thats the intention though as it is supposed to be him narrating a story.

    • @gregsmw
      @gregsmw 10 месяцев назад +2

      hes incredibly deadpan with no emotion or inflection
      he basically reads his lines like a text to speach

      People just don’t like it because it isn’t want they want or think would fit. I like it in both 1 and 2 because it’s the same in 1 and 2. They can’t suspend some disbelief it just has to be horrible dialogue because it’s that not because I don’t like it.

      With Alan Wake, it is more of a direction problem that Matthew Porrettas voice acting. Alan is meant to be a asshole and moody, so there inst much range he can work with.

      Just a different kind of game from Max Payne. There’s actually some tie-in to Max Payne that gets elaborated on in Control DLC

    • @Assassin21BEKA
      @Assassin21BEKA 10 месяцев назад +4

      Its completely different. Max Payne is mostly about gameplay while Alan Wake is a story driven game. Alan wake, Control and Alan Wake 2 all are connected to each other and happen in the same world. Quantum Break had a teaser for Alan Wake 2 plot in the beginning of the game where it was presented as a tv show.

    • @cregerbot8217
      @cregerbot8217 10 месяцев назад +3

      Very subjective. I think both of the games have an overlap of people who like prose-driven writing between both games, and the relation to Twin Peaks inspired content, but besides that and a few gameplay cues there isn't much to compare. I think it is generally agreed upon that the gameplay loop for the Max Payne games were better, though. Alan Wake repeats a bit too much, but has a pretty creative story especially if you look into all of the history and lore in the games.

  • @gregsmw

    the fact anyone would call this a good game is shocking to me
    its genuinly ass, the gameplay is awfull, the story is terrible, the writing is dog, and the voice acting is just.....embarasing

    • @gimpscam9976
      @gimpscam9976 10 месяцев назад +1

      That sucks. To each their own. Just know it isn’t as bad as you think. You just have a hard perspective. This is by far not a bad game. Especially with the games we’ve seen since. Again just cause you didn’t enjoy it, didn’t have fun, and/or came in expecting something you’ve already affected your perspective of it. It’s like being biased against something and then doing something involved with it of course it’s going to be objectively the worst thing ever regardless of any good quality it might have. Good luck in life.
