The most sensible review I have seen for the SLC - the reviewer was positive all the way through and gave the information we needed. This is 2 years later now June 2018 and I have ordered my SLC 200 (Mercedes have discontinued the diesel model or I would have bought that ) also went for a manual gearbox as I want to change gear myself - Same colour but Sahara sand leather. The thing now since the recent government changes to road fund tax is the total manufactures price including all the extras has to be under £40,000 , If you go over £40k you pay a load more road fund tax for 6 years ... so pick your extras carefully.
I know I'm replying to myself but the SLC I have on order didn't arrive when expected but Mercedes being a great company instead of saying hard luck, decided to lend me their demonstrator model. It's a black SLC 200 Auto with the red/black Nappa leather.. Although the one I've ordered is Brilliant Blue with Manual gearbox - I'm very impressed with the Auto gearbox and Dynamic select. I'm an older guy who likes to know the speed/power is there but 90% of the time "Comfort" mode suits me. I took it out in the country on winding roads and put it in Sports + and OMG it was like a car possessed !!! It totally changed everything. The sound, the Higher revs, the Steering tightened, The suspension, The acceleration and the MPG ! Lol. Wow what a car I absolutely love everything about it - I've had about 15 new cars in my life time but this is the one that excites me most. Cheers Phil
Thanks for your comment +random275! I am actually looking to buy a car and 1-year old SLC 300 is now my favorite. Feel free to let me know if there's anything that surprised you - both: positively and negatively. Thanks!
Still waiting for mine to arrive and using their demonstrator at the moment. Very impressed with the audio system - even with the roof and windows open at speed it's still nice and loud. It's the first car I've had for years where I just go out for a ride for the hell of it - so much fun. An SLC 300 will be awesome! Cheers Phil
It's something like £500 extra a year for 6 years. The point I was trying to make is if you can get the extras you want and still be under £40k you avoid giving an extra £3k to the government and will make the car easier to sell in the first 6 years.
@Oli it is the same, just different wheels, gearbox, headlights, bumper, tail lights, rear bumper, the rear lights are lower, the dash and radio, the steering wheel and seats and now you can fold the roof while driving

If someone can afford a 40 grand car, surely road tax isn't that big of a deal.
