jsu knows this high school very well...this drumline is intruckted by a alumni from the WT. to all that's hating on these KIDS....get a life..they are awesome.
We do understand that: 1. High schools emulate colleges. 2. People who march for a certain college often go back to their high school and teach their material to their high school. 3. #2 is often used to recruit students and feed them into their college programs. When they do that, that's less time they have to spend on teaching the basics and more time they get teaching advanced things earlier so they can smack around the other drumlines they go against since their crabs are so developed. Somehow, we understand that recruitment is important for NCAA sports, but we think that in music programs, it's supposed to "happen." The top programs get kids while they're still in high school and convince them to go to their colleges. They show them their basics and teach them from freshmen all the way to seniors. That's how they continually have strong freshman classes. I challenge any critic to watch any of the merges from previous years. Look a their freshman percussion feature and tell me with a straight face that those crabs at that moment can't outplay most of the SWAC's entire drumline at their full strength halfway through the season. That doesn't happen by accident.
I can tell them drummers practiced with WT,cause their hand speed on them drums is fast. Most high school drummers speed is a lil slower!WT drummers have fast hand speed and real aggressive!
lol no they don't practice with WT. I marched in the boom in 2005 and all of the training techniques I learned I taught them plus other things. All of the drum instructors have marched for JSU
Man I marched with the Boom in 1993,right in the stadium up the bleachers, lol. So that means you are Murrah BD.These drummers went to JSU band camp in the summer, lol.I cant read music, but I can play any drum like dude on Drumline!
I wish I could get them all to go... That'd make my job a LOT easier lol... I think I have five going this year so hopefully they'll feel that "spirit" that older drummers used to have. It's almost non existent bro... They love to perform but when it's time to put in the work, half of them don't understand it's hard work to continue success.
Oh yea I guess they do kinda practice with WT, some of my older students come back occasionally and talk or play for them. Maybe that's cheating, but oh well...
I'm not being sarcastic but I watched this entire video trying to figure out where the "perfection" comes in? The snares are dirty as hell, Tenors that's a whole other story, the entire line all of the lines that play like this just sounds like a cluster fuck of people playing drums.
They drumeline doesent even have there own drum solo like we do but this year we have a bigger band not big enough but its big! In 2015 and 2016 hazlehurst high school band will still be the best
+Te'Jean Burton well I'm the head drum instructor. The other two instructors are from JSU as well. Soooo, yea we like the style of playing, it makes sense to teach our students what we learned right? If you're talking about cadences, Series and maybe BT2 are the only cadences from WT that Murrah plays. But everyone plays them too right? Murrah has their own cadences. If you're talking about "style", EVERYONE in Jackson uses the same style of playing... Sooooo yea.
That first snare ended up coming to the Boom
Dee Eichelberger I thought he looked familiar
girl on bass smashin
SHE BEATING THAT BIHH
Noah Johnson on god

Most are jungle boots but some are Brazo's. We just spray painted them
