This is the greatest chess commentary double act of all time. Dealing with technical issues smoothly and also a totally unbiased commentary. Thanks to you both. I met Maurice in London a few years ago. Totally charming and patient man while we got our camera working. Ace guy. This is how the future of chess should be.
They are brilliant. To analyze what’s going on as quickly as they do, play off each other with witty banter, admit when they weren’t clever enough to see a great move that happened, all while thoroughly explaining everything happening to a casual novice such as myself…just incredible
karma with Naroditsky... sitting on the couch, saying how great it is to be up there with those guys and then not wanting to win against a 2800 player. did he forget his low tiebreak score. without guts you do not make it.. its not sad, its rightfully so that he got kicked out
@@kennethandersen7 . They added a knockout stage on day two instead of a longer round format. That's why danya got eliminated from the knockout stage. He took a quick draw but his tiebreak score was too low so he's out.
@@kennethandersen7 FIDE had determined that in tournaments prior, players entering the final rounds were reluctant to risk their positions and therefore potential prize money, and were playing out quick draws. Lower ranked players with nothing to play for were also doing the same in their redundant dead rubber games. To counteract this, FIDE subsequently introduced a final day knockout tournament consisting of only the top 8 ranked players, however, a LOT of players were tied for 1st following the penultimate round and did not want to risk losing, and so the quick draw problem which they had sought to eliminate not only persisted but was in fact even more noticeable and significant.
quick draw on all top boards? - FIDE punished Ian and Dubov for doing it in 2023 with 0 score. Dubov would have tied for 1st place otherwise. they should put all 8 players to 0 for this action. in 2023 there was also no rule that you could get score of 0 for playing the knight back and forth in the initial position. Considering all this jeans scandal. FIDE likes to stress that they only followed rules, but what they mean, they change rules as they wish.
@@yakine259 FIDE bring the game in disrepute allowing quick draws on all boards in a final round. if they say not before move40, then we will also see knights jumping back and forth - sure all well known theory )
There's a "Buchholz-score", where you score points depending on how well the people you beat/lost to performed. If one player had all wins so far and you beat that player, your Buchholz will rise by a lot. If you win the first round against someone, who ends up with a total of zero wins, this win is worth less. I dont understand why they dont show the Buchholz-Score.

The hans interview at 6:48:42 was filmed/framed like a Joker hostage video. Excellence 🤌
Actually the great format
Love the new format FIDE, what a great way to reduce quick draws 😂😂. The only bonus was that karma really caught up with Dubov and Danya ..
What did they change?

Magnuuuus my man!
How to lose 80 points of advantage in 4 moves. Miro is a hoot. 😂
At the end they couldn’t say the start time of the knock out stage? They said every other detail.
Same start time as today

What time does it start today?
Why is Gelfand playing under ISR, while Nepo and Dubov are forced to play under "FID"?

Check Hans for the buzz beads
Can any one explain....why only 8 players goes to knock out even though 10 players have same points
Silly format.
Because is not depending about how many players had the top score, the format was already established for 8 players in the knockout stages
