Hey there is a bot account trying to lure people in to there site. And i want everyone to report it because of its pfp and of the website! Tuv if you can delete the comment please!!!
I feel really bad for the guy. Sure he shouldn't have used his business account to download a game mod, but I really feel bad that such a small thing like that could do so much damage.
Yeah he was negligent, we will at least hit him with that. But what im more concerned is that all it took to hack a multimillion company work laptop was a simple trojan horse. And the Hack happened in 2024 so this isnt a time where companies were adjusting to the new work from home era when the pandemic started. They practically didnt have as much as a vpn or basic firewalls required to be in their employee devices. Its just as much as negligence as the guy they refuse to help.
its total bullshit. making an example out of him for absolutely nothing. these people are dangerous and dont give a fuck who they hurt to defend something that does not matter
This is a tough one. Like, dude for sure shouldn't have had work and personal computer stuff linked, but the fact that he did the right thing and came forward right away just for Disney to leave him to the wolves is messed up. That just shows the next person that they should conply with hackers.
You made an awful mistake 99% of the companies of this calibre will go above and beyond to warn you not to... and suddenly the big bad is Disney for firing him? lmao And he wonders why no one else wants to hire him? He is a massive liability for anyone with common sense.
The thing is this “hackers” didn’t target Disney, they saw an opportunity and they took it to blackmail a person, they didn’t do anything to Disney but they destroyed this person life, I hope we get to a point where there are resources for regular people to defend themselves from this opportunist evil people
They didn't directly get into Disney stuff, they used the guy's device to get what they could, at least from what I understand. But all this shows is that going to the police is the wrong move, since your company won't help you and think it's your mistake alone and not worth keeping you around: You're a liability to them for merely getting hacked. It's the wrong message to take, but Disney propped that message up all by themselves.
This is so sad and messed up and it really highlights the mentality that a lot of people today have. They don't care to destroy the lives of bystanders to further their so-called noble agenda. If you really want to do good and fight against something bad you don't destroy innocent people in the process. It's like the people that want to yell and scream at you to make their point. Their whole point whether it was valid or not is lost because of the yelling and screaming.
They’re not even fighting against something “bad”, like human rights violations, or even getting involved in something like the abortion rights debate. No, they go after people using a mod, all because of this misguided notion that AI art destroys real art and artists, or some bullshit like that. Probably a bunch of kids, like many of these hacker groups are, who see themselves as vigilantes protecting artists. In reality, they’re destroying lives because the internet told them to hate a piece of technology. For better or worse, generative AI is here to stay. I’m rather neutral on it, seeing the need for regulation but hardly wanting to ban it. Nor am I here to defend Disney. Just simply that the anti-AI fervor is getting really stupid and really shitty and it’s starting to hurt innocent people. Seems like, to these people, it’s ok if non-artists have their lives ruined as long as your local furry artist is protected so they can continue to draw giant d*cks.
You know how movies sometimes have villains that comes off like they have a point but they need to do something ridiculously evil to remind the audience they are meant to be bad. Turns out that's not far from the truth.
If this guy is truly blackballed and considered unhireable in his industry, 60K isn’t gonna do shit. His earning potential is 2-2.5M. You do the math. Hope he has a solid circle and isn’t thinking of unaliving himself. There’s always tmrw even if you have to reinvent yourself and start out in another line of work.
16:49 Yes, you’d think they’d cover for him and a respectable employer would do that but it’s Disney we are talking about, the same Disney that tried not pay someone’s family though loopholes, that died because of an accident on their park (you look it up, I believe it happened this and they were with their fiancé when it happened). I’m sure Disney has even more skeletons in their closet to uncover. 20:16 (I wrote what is above with listening to the updates) he trust them :(( it’s unfortunate and heartbreaking for this family. I hope all goes well for them and I hope they soon prosper. He trusted Disney but what do you expect from a multi billion dollar company/corporation, they care for nothing more than money. They don’t care who they have disposable of to get that cash from consumers.
johnny silverhand's was right about the corporation they're just soulless not helping their employee and. that include that one man. can't sue Disney over his wife's wrongful death. she was highly allergic to some ingredient and they kept asking disney staff to keep that stuff away from her food or else she’d die and well it was in her food
Telling me not to watch AI Tuv is something AI Tuv would actually say. You won’t fool me! No but seriously, screw Disney for this, I really do hope justice is brought for this man because he does not deserve it.
This is terrible, know someone going through something similar , getting help is nearly impossible, and the labels you get are sickening because most don't even understand cyberstalking and hackers , the damage they can do :-/
Disney owns so much, we should all be shocked to even hear about this. Surprised they didn't off the guy to keep it under wraps. Cooperations need to be regulated way more.
If the us contracts are the same like the European ones, this guy wasnt allowed to use his work computer for private or his private computer for work. I believe he was fired for this. And his employer is able to sue him for damages.
There’s likely a contract that explicitly says not to use the work computer for personal activity, which would mean he broke that contract, absolving Disney of legal fall-out. I’m not saying i agree with it, i know i would help the guy out to the best of my ability, but that’s likely the reason.
Disney, as long as I remember being in school to study art, has NEVER been a good company to work for as an artist. Once you get in, anything you do, even in private, can be used against you and they will NOT be understanding of it. And I really doubt it's any better for anyone not in art related positions either. There are some people that are cool with that as long as it sustains their living style, but to many, working for them just isn't a feasible risk to take for the work it takes to get there. Legally, they are the worst to deal with. Not sure how much he was getting paid, but not many people are going to be maintaining more than one laptop, and pretty sure Disney isn't going to provide state of the art tools for the job, even with the amount of revenue the company earns. He definitely shouldn't have been using a work device to download things for personal use, I'm pretty sure that breaks some company policy if the laptop was provided by Disney, but also to be working for almost 10yrs with no issues either we was extremely lucky until now to not have been hacked or the hack is a lot more sophisticated than how it's being portrayed. With everything malicious they've bee doing themselves, Disney should be investing more on their workers.
Ok, liftin this guy up is good, but let this be your warning. If youre involved AT ALL directly or close, to digital value or corporate entities, practice good opsec. This is no longer just good advice. I dont support disney in anyway but id never expect them to legally defend an employee. And unfortunately, a true kill out of nowhere, this man was wrong. He was between a corporate machine and its enemies..but i but the paycheckband bennys was nice and his future seemed secure.
