What gauges did you use?
do you know why 80% is not subscribed because you blocked them ding dong
I didn't even know you had a second channel! Liked and subscribed.
Tuning = A D G C E A (low to high)
Like a capo at the 5th fret
THEN lower the top two strings (E and A) by an octave.
The precise notes are A2 (110 Hz), D3 (147 Hz), G3 (196 Hz), C4 (262 Hz), E3 (165 Hz), A3 (220 Hz).
The goal is to play chords with the notes spaced more closely together.
Interesting!❤
I can imagine guitarists having heard Frank play some of those things and then driving themselves INSANE trying to recreate it on a standard-tuned guitar and not realizing why they can't play like Frank.
His choice of tuning is not the reason i can’t play like Frank😂
Same thing with Allan Holdsworth and his Synthaxe licks, he tuned it to 5ths!
@@AdamDallas His choice of tuning is not the reason I can’t play like Allan.
Here's what's weird about Frank Gambale. You hear him play, and his soloing is ferocious, daring, and fearless. And you imagine this guy that is all of those things, and then you see him in interviews, and he's the nicest, most laid back guy in the world. Honestly and truly, he has an 'amateur guitar player' personality: humble, friendly, and helpful, like guys that can't be proud of their playing because they're not that good.
Except he's one of the greatest players on the planet. That's the thing.
nope, that's not weird at all. usually, the better you become at something, the more you realize how little you actually know.
I bought the Beato Book a few yrs ago and I am playing better than I ever have and still growing everyday, The knowledge being passed along is priceless,You still gotta put in the work But Now I have direction and goals,it`s a road map.Kinda hard to get where your going if ya dont know the way.Thank You Rick.I was lost.
4:23 that Minor 7 sound is ethereal after those chords before it.
I love how you are enjoying this moment Rick
I love Nashville tuning! Give it a try in double drop D... it's insane. Opens up all kinds of inspiration.
I’ve done it for real, and used a Variax p(line 6) to use that tuning, and man it can be so inspiring to play around with especially chording onstage with a band.
I gotta get some light strings and do this again! ❤🎉
Frank is a wealth of talent and information. I love it when you two come together.
Listen to the album Eli by Jan Akkerman& Kaz Lux from 1976, Akkerman used these kind of tunings 50 years ago. Ahead of it’s time! It wouldn’t surprise me if Gambale knows that album. After Jan hit worldfame with Focus a lot of the LA guitarguys studied HIM very carefully…
what a incredible tasteful player! - his Chords are amazing!
You can play Holdsworthian chords without having to have super long gynecologists fingers like Holdsworth. 😆
I get lots of love for my finger length and dexterity…..wait…this about guitar! Oooops! 😂❤
Frank is a monster!
Absolutely beautiful harmonies !!!!!
Genius playing - absolutely insane
This channel is another Beato treasure ... Love it!!
Table for One is one of my favourite guitar tunes ever!
Damn! That is hauntingly beautiful sound.
4:24 let's see Paul Allen's tuning
After I saw a clip of Frank explaining the tuning (and playing some of those stunningly beautiful chord voicings), I took an old acoustic and my 'student loaner' Fender Squire electric and strung them up with Gambale Tuning. They are now INVALUABLE songwriting tools!
FG is a genius and a fellow Aussie to boot.
Wow that is fantastic. Really reminds me of playing the piano.. may have to try this somehow
👉🏼👌😎I first heard Frank on the 'flexi disk' recording on his first Guitar player magazine cover shot. It was Frank playing modes over specific rhythms.....his incredible speed, fluidity tone and phrasing was unbelievable.....often wish I still had that disk, truly virtuosic
Thank you Rick, you rock🇳🇿😎👈🏼
5:18 when you're a character in a Ghibli movie reflecting on your journey so far
Love your channel. Love Gambale ❤. Great work !!!!!!!!!
Table for one is such an amazing piece
Just beautiful!
Fascinating! The one thing I always struggle with in any kind of alternate tuning is I simply cannot play leads anymore. Although this may indicate I simply don't know my instrument well enough
seems like you need a double neck😆
With this tuning, the intervals are the same as standard tuning, but some strings are in different octaves
More videos with Frank please 🙏
This is rocket science for me
Frank Gambale is my guitar hero😊
That is brilliant!
Well, this one goes in the save bucket!
awesome, I need a double neck now ...dang it!
I have used inverted Nashville tuning guitar for a while. I keep it in E to get that baritone vibes plus it is never used alone. It's always layered with other guitars.
Wow, just wow!
Gorgeous!
Table for One has to be my favorite Gambale tune. I get such a sense of bittersweet longing from the melody. He’s an absolute monster technician, but that song really speaks to my heart.
Wow ! Just WOW !!!!
It may not be important, but Frank's expressions are the most similar to Rick's of anyone I've seen. It could be the way they both receive the music.
THE MASTER ❤
Nashville tuning starting from a baritone 12 string!...
Another great video with an absolute guitar legend! Can anyone confirm Frank's guitar tuning in this video?
Wonderful!
SWEET JIMINY-JESUS, those chords at the end caught me COMPLETELY off guard. T_T
His voicing......🔥🎸
That was MaGICaL!
that's really nice
Genius!
Just beautiful.
I'd love to hear stairway heaven with this voicing!
All the classic Police chords without the finger strain.
it reminds me a lot to Anthony Phillips acoustic guitar playing...
Super cool! Franco!!!
Love this,😊
excellent
heartwarming chord adventures! frank is such a genius!
much love
A Master!
Genius!
Secrets like this were well kept once to thwart theft (Danny Gatton towel cover up) but this fellow is not worried about that now.
Rick! I realized you do not have any videos on Lonesome Dave (Dave Peverett) or Rod Price of Foghat!! This is a problem 😮😉
Este canal do Rick e o do Nelson Faria são os melhores canais de musica do RUclips, especialmente para os guitarristas, só isto. Frank Gambale , Steve Morse Peter Frampton, Bonamassa, Eric Johnson, Kiko Loureiro, Steve Lukather , ualllll. Quando vai levar o Larry Carlton , George Benson, Carlos Rios, Scott Henderson, Steve Wariner, ???
❤
would have loved to have heard it without chorus
Guitar God
Cool 80s kinda synth sound🤙 which string gauge for that tuning?😮
Nice!
So the two best guitarists in the world are Australian?
Jeff Beck and Allan Holdsworth were British
4:03 "here's one piece I play a lot" and which is g o r g e o u s
Anyone know what gauges of string he's using for this tuning?
Does anyone know which song he's play at the end?
Could this be done on a nylon string guitar?
Ben subscribed to this channel for a long time. I can only subscribe once. I know that's for people that haven't. I don't know why people that go back and watch a channel over and over, don't subscribe. Doesn't make any sense to me.
WOW.🎸🎶🎵
Tell me this is Ricky B #2 one more mf time bro omg
OMG
Fine, I'll subscribe here too. lol
What Guage strings does Frank use,.
@BobBob-fv3xj wat
Seems kinda thick on the bottom. Most use a .28@BobBob-fv3xj
Sounds like alan holdsworth for dummies. Nice
ouch .. he's good
As far as I'm concerned I find the sound and tuning very interesting but I'm not a huge fan of the tone we hear in this video.
Hello guys. Please make your guitar microtonal tuning and play something interesting.
I'm going to get ratio'd to actual death for saying this. I love these harmonies, really pretty. But oh my gosh I dislike that guitar tone. Like, with all of my heart. It's the sound of a fly buzzing around my ear, just horrific.
Steinberger?
Kiesel
❤
My favourite tuning is (low to high) D,D,D, D, D, D. I call this "D Tuning".
The song is "Table for One" from the album "Raison D'etre" (2004).
That last part is really pretty.
I watched recent video of rick beato and his interview with paul gilbert. Even paul said he was intimidated when he look at frank gambale back in the GIT (MI)
Interesting.. when he plays the tuning at the 5th fret, it sounds like the first chord of the chorus to “Driven To Tears” by The Police.
I’m Australian. It took me about five minutes to realise that he is too lol. His accent is normal to me.
Wow Frank, that was great!
Almost 😂
A true genius 😊
That was very interesting. I have used many different alternate tunings over the years, most of them I came up with on my own. I’d love to give this one a try. Frank is a truly wonderful guitarist.
