Kian is my big brother. I'd like to say this was for filming but I can promise you he always has been and always is just like this 🤣🤣🤣 drives our mother nuts! I am so very proud of you Kian!
I make these at home in the oven all the time. I call it dinner bread. It takes almost nothing to step these up a lot. A bit of sugar and salt really goes a long way to make it taste like more than just flour. If you add a bit of baking powder (note: not baking soda), it will fluff the dough up and give it a lot nicer of a chew. Don't feel shy about playing with the amount of baking powder, in fact I'd encourage you to play with the amounts.
I used to work with a guy who traveled all around the us .when he needed money he would get a part time job .when he was in California he got a job picking fruit . before lunch he saw a guy run into the orchard .at lunch everyone went where the guy went earlier .he had a bed of coals like you had and cooked skirt steak on the coals . they made tacos and he said they were the best he ever had !
Aussies call that damper, and we usually add a bit of butter or oil into the mix as well, I prefer it cooked in a dutch oven or wrapped in alfoil, bugger eating ash and coals remnants.
That cracked me up. I love it. Going to try that next time I have a fire going. Sadly, my part of Oregon is currently under fire prohibition due to a lack of rain. 😒
Read 'Early Times in Texas' by Kentuckian JC Duval about his adventures fighting against Santa Anna's army in 1830s that, it's a long story but a short book, escaping disaster, he found a steel corn grinder at a raided pioneer log house, put whole field corn in the grinder and ate ash cake. No recipe other than that. I tried it with a little salt, baking powder, fried in a hot skillet. Very good.
So geht das! Ich lege T-Bone 🥩 auch direkt auf die Glut 👌. Kartoffeln grabe ich in die untere weiße Ascheschicht damit sie nicht verbrennen. Sorry mein Englisch taugt nichts.
@@jackwolf1202 That's how it is done! I also put T-Bone 🥩 directly on the embers 👌. I dig potatoes in the lower layer of white ash so that they don't burn. Sorry my english is no good. Google translate
Lost my bandaid,, ooo. What a flavor treat? Seriously ? Mash up some pine nuts, or grind up some Jerky . Oooo. Or maybe some Rose Hips, drizzle some wild honey.. Full cooking show at ate? Now back to the programming. .
with a can of chili beans in tomato sauce, flour and water you can make a simple "survival"-pizza. always carry chili beans, they will help you stay warm under the blanket, especially in the colder morning hours.
0:19 wow I didn't even get that far. I really don't like being slapped over the eyes, SO ... I THINK I SHALL NEVER, NEVER WATCH THROUGH, NEVER, NEVER WATCH YOUR MERCH PITCH, OR DO YOU ANY FAVORS, UNTIL I FIND OUT YOU ARE NOT SLAPPING ME OVER THE EYES ... which will NEVER happen, because I WILL NEVER TRUST YOU AGAIN to find out. DONE!!!

Ash cakes, one of my favorite foods. Especially when stuffed with apples or serviceberries.
You can also make soap from ashes, awesome properties and works!
Excellent rapport guys, made me grin from ear to ear. Thank you.
Simple! Good starting point recipe. You can’t pay for comedy like this!
We ate these when I was sent to a wilderness program it was a treat for us

Good morning from Brockton, Pa just over the mountain.
Check this out and scroll down for lots of examples of cooking steak directly on coals. Just great. Thanks for all the great tips and instructions.
I love making ash cakes. I like simplicity and I did a video of it too. My stuff is 1800’s reenacting also though.

Great activity for kids- definitely will try this.

Nice video. You're doing fantastic
Hee Hee, that was hilarious. Thanks guys!
This would make a great stomach "filler". Play with a few spices like salt pepper etc.
What a kick-ash video!
Did you ever tried bread made out of dried and grined bones + wood ash?
Who got to chew on the band-aid?...
Did it give the cake some good flavor?
"Ash a good cake" haha that's awesome. "Give em the hand, no no you gotta go right up to it" lmao
Thank y'all

Your partner is a smart ash😀

What about the ash on the dough
It would work on a stick as well.
Lmao!! Loved this vid!!

Why didn't they take another bite?
We camped this past weekend and used can biscuits to wrap around a stick wound up cooking the whole thing on the grill and it worked fine
Its just flour??

Hey young-one what kind of ashcake it is high on or don't get high
/
So it’s basically hardtack.
Eeew you bit the part the that other guy bit before. (3:40). Why would you eat bitemark when you could choose side untouched by teeth?
Lost my bandaid,, ooo. What a flavor treat?

You forgot to tell people to pretend they are a starving indian while eating it.
Ya'll need to stop making an ash of yourselves!!
If it doesn't turn out just right you can just dump it off in the ash hole . Jus sayin
Wait what??? I'm so early! Jk
Great way to eat something with close to 0 nutritional value...hard pass!
