In 1964 I was in IAF and posted in jorhat. In those days only MG trains were running from Tinsukia / Dibrugarh to Barauni. I used to travel through this route on several occassions. This video did remind me of those days

My father was in Indian Air Force and we stayed at Hasimara in the span 1978-1980, at a rented accomodation in old hasimara.I still remember the beautiful tea gardens & snow clad kanchanjangha mountain peaks while travelling in shaktiman vehicle to my school KV Hasimara.Nice video, it rekindled so many old childhood memories of hasimara.I was in Class 4 at that time.

Well sir, for starters, Hamiltongunj is not a Jn. station and to be frank, unfortunately there is nothing much to show in Hamiltongunj. There was not even a proper platform there at the time the video was shot. I personally do visit the place often, and do not have anything against the place, it is a good place. But I skipped it just because there was nothing much to show..no hard feelings.
I belong to Jalpaiguri and have sweet memories of my student life between 1975t1978 when I used to travel by Assam Mail in meter gauge line from Dibrugarh to Siliguri North Junction in this route regularly.But in passage of time the greenery seemes to have reduced due to destruction of nature by us.
Entire stretch of dooars darjeeling mirik kurseong kalimpong is mesmerizing list is endless you people are one of the blessed person as you resides amidst nature.
Thank you mam, yes North Bengal and Dooars is indeed a very beautiful place in close proximity of nature. And more importantly there are many such places here which are still untouched by mainstream tourism, and that gives one a singular experience. PS. You mentioned Kurseong, a ride video to Kurseong on a foggy day will be coming soon.. stay tuned.

Glad you liked it. Yes this used to be a metre gauge route during my childhood days. Got converted to Broad gauge somewhere around 2003. And you are welcome to Dooars anytime. Do visit you will find lot has changed since the metre gauge days.
No, wahan se route ki koi bus ya auto nahi milega, lekin aap auto reserve kar ke ja sakte hain. Bengal safari siliguri se sivok ke taraf Jane wale raste par parta hai.
Malbazar ke samose pehele sahi mein bahut hi acche the, Lekin pichle 5 , 6 salon mein quality bahut hi kharab ho gaya hai.. Main 25 saal is route mein safar kar raha hoon..pehele ki quality ab toh bilkul hi nahi raha.. :)
I do have the full footage, both from railway and by road (road video coming soon) but to incorporate all the footage will lead to a 4+ hr video which is not practical for RUclips.. :) so I edited out stuff and kept the ones beautiful / important for the storytelling. :)
