I won the Australian Open twice, the French Open twice and Wimbledon and the U.S. Open each once and I only have Wii Grand Slam Tennis for one week, this is the greatest thing since they invented sliced bread. The motionplus is incredible!!!
It's not a conspiracy. If you look closely, the character is doing exactly what he is. Adding the Wii motion Plus puts a accelerometer on the controller so wrist turns are also shown on the screen. That's how you can NOW get top spin (among other shots) that is shown in game.
That's a good point. I have only heard that WM+ doesn't work the way it should with Grand Slam Tennis. With Tiger Woods Golf, it supposedly works pretty good.
this game is going to be released on 2012 as Grand Slam Tennis 2 for the Xbox and PS3 which is awesome! Great graphics, and you have the option to just play it with your regular controller rather than this one and HeartOfSonic is right it is not synchronized with your body movement, so I am glad I have a PS3 to be able to play this game in HD and in a REGULAR CONTROLLER!
I had a similar problem. Try using the nunchuk to steer for yourself, then it works perfectly. Also, if you do nice smooth movements, it also works a lot better.
Ok, this guy looks like he's playing the game in slow motion. I know he's trying to show us the game, but no one is going to play the game moving this slow. Once you speed up the movement, I've found the Wii Motion Plus can't read the movements fast enough. BUT the Wii Motion plus works REALLY well in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10.
In fact, that's where a lot of my problems were coming from before I realized that. IMO, the actions of what goes on onscreen need to be a bit more individualistic, but that's what subsequent editions in the series are for. Remember, this is the FIRST tennis game period to attempt to give you that kind of control over things. There were going to be screwups somewhere.
The 360 just upgraded it's components and didn't bring really anything new. The problem with the Wii when I say it uses "last gen" tech is that it still lacks in a lot of ways. The graphics chip isn't the most powerful. It doesn't have DVD (and a lot of people want that). Games are getting big that they need a HDD and the Wii doesn't have that NOR the capability. The 360 is coming out with Natal (it looks interesting to say the least). It's going to be a interesting time for all gamers :)
Amazing game! It's amazing how you can control the wiimote just like a tennis racket. Two things: 1- you'll need though, first to know how to hold the wiimote, just like that guy in the video. 2- if you don't know how to play tennis in real life, you'll have a hard time with some shots. Other than that, it's great game much better than the others in my opinion.
Absolutely!! And this is what many others are saying as well. The WM+ is supposed to add a greater degree of control yet, people & reviewers are saying it's really hard to do certain shot in certain situations. That shouldn't even come into question with the touting of the WM+.
can't wait for the xbox 360 version, ive herd the ranking system and online play of the wii version kicks ass, so i can only imagine that the xbox 360's online will be frickin awsome. plus i think the 360's game isnt comical im pretty sure the models will be different and that EA will compeat with top spin
@hyylo Racquet Sports for Wii seems to be like Wii Sports, with 4 players and 5 games including tennis, and with motion plus. Haven't tested it yet though.
I never said that you were a "casual gamer". I also think that the M+ can and probably will have some cool games with it. It's been stated though that backward compatibility will not be done. If you like a system that I don't, to each his own & that's fine. As for my experience....I am what you would consider a OLDER gamer. You were "maybe" one or two years old and I was messing around with my Atari 1200XL, Coleco & Intellivision. Been a gamer forever.
The animation is NOT 1:1, BUT the results of your shots when done properly are PRETTY damn close representations of what you actually do. I can't aim shots worth a shit without MP because you can't really do what you want to do when everything is based off of Wii Sports timing. I've gotten many types of shots off just from the angle and velocity of my swing alone. In fact, I think the only thing that hurts the controls is that it's stats based based on the character you're playing.
I am a 360 fan (I think I mentioned at one time but I used to own all three consoles...but sold the Wii & PS3 for a down payment on a PRS guitar ;D) It's not that I don't like the Wii, I'll probably get another one in the future, just for MY type of gaming, it wouldn't be the console of choice for me at this time.
looks so good. but how would you run up for a lob? it doesn't seem like you can control where your character runs to. -_- that's what i didn't like about wii sports. hopefully they can do something about that.
One question!...where does he have the sensor!...because i have the game with the wii motion plus but it is not as perfect as it is in this video plis help me with that!
we won't know if and how much better natal will be until it comes out and real games are made. Plus, price? Who knows. It seems more useful for other applications other than gaming as far as I see...
It just spins a bit but I think it's cuz he turned at that moment so if anything you just pointed out something that makes this seem MORE believable. He also raises the racket every time he raised his hand to speak. I doubted it at first but this is most probably real.
Sounds like they tried to put too much in there. I'm playing the new Tiger Woods w/ WM+ and it's very accurate... I'm really impressed. I have Virtua Tennis as well but I don't really have an opinion on it yet...
I wouldn't say that it is a "marketing scandal", but I can agree with you (sort of) that it still isn't really "one to one" control. One to One would be if I scratched my nuts, the character on screen would do the same thing. As mentioned by someone else, the system / game is still showing a "canned response" to what the gamer does, but at least it's giving the player more options.
That seems to depend entirely on what kind of swing the game thinks you took. The game still seems to use gestures, but there's a LOT more that determines the outcome as opposed to the Wii remote alone. The big claim by EA is that if the game was truly 1:1 it would be too hard for the general populace. I think that's part of it, but another part of it would probably involve having to completely rethink the way they animate their player models.
The 360 pretty much uses components that are of the "PC caliber". They are not available for the PC, but are a very close relative to a PC components. The PS3 is a whole 'nother beast. I would also like to try the WM+ and see how it is for TW Golf. It looks really cool but unfortunately, I am in the same boat as you....pretty much broke at this time! "NT Beast T.T "?? The only "NT BEAST" I know is a BC Rich Guitar?!?
you really know what you are talking about :) and yeah... both xbox and ps3 have been made with technology not yet available on pc for they cant be upgraded and are meant to last at least 5 years... IF programmed right, games on either of them can be even impossible on pc... and i wanna try the new wii motion plus now but i just went broke after buying a new NT Beast T.T
why is it when you play online against some opponents the ball seems to freeze on your opponents side which makes it easier for them to get to the ball it is so annoying, i feel i have hit a winner, the ball stops on their side they get to the ball and hit it back. please somebody tell me why.
@leisurelydinner If you are not using the Nunchuk, then you have to press up on the D-Pad to run towards the net. That feels a bit awkward indeed, hence I'd rather have the Nunchuk attached. With the Nunchuk's analog stick you have total control of your player, though it does take some getting used to. Probably that's why EA Sports call it "advanced" play. But truth is, after playing with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk combo, there's pretty much no way to go back. The game feels much better!
Hey i see why some people don't like it but most of my games for the wii are rated mature. and graphics are to me a gianant gimmick(that i too love but isn't even nessary to make a great game)
I can agree with you....the Nintendo has pushed the boundary with it's controller scheme. I had a Wii at one time and I thought it was quite fun with the few games I had. But I will disagree with you on the PS3 being incremental. It has a CPU that can rival the most powerful super computers. It uses BlueTooth and let's not forget that it also has BluRay. That system is absolutely NEXT GEN. And I still don't think that the devs have yet been able to take advantage of all that the PS3 can do.
Practice shot control. Get better. If you lose to anyone other than a serve and volley player, you just got to get better. I lost every game I played, even on Easy until I started figuring things out. Now I have 3 Grand Slams, and working on the last one. Then gotta win them all in one year.
Mmm, finally a game that will take the good parts from Wii Sports and improve that. Hope they will keep it easy as Wii Sports, so my grandma can play against me ;) Look at 3:11 - 3:13, he doenst move his controller, but the character does.
I was talking about consoles not PC's which is the only thing you will find the i7 CPU in. But, if the dev takes the time to code their application to use the SPE's properly, the i7 can't touch it. Example - The Cell can encode H.264 at 29FPS while the top end i7 will do 18FPS. The i7 is no slouch but people are still attempting to tap into the Cell and all that it can do. It's already used in multiple supercomputers. Unfortunately, it's a bitch to develop for (as has been said numerous times).
@897MrAlex Hi Can someone please tell me if there is a tennis game similar to the wii tennis game you get free? I have grand slam tennis but I find it very difficult. Some have suggested Sega Sonic tennis or Mario tennis? Which is better? Any suggestions?
I can agree with you. Some of my other comments (in other videos) have been about how graphics are not that big of a deal with me. The majority of people who bitch and complain about graphics are NOT the console gamers. They are the PC gamers. They need to justify there 500 dollar graphic card expense by complaining about how a game isn't LIFE LIKE or attempting to get that extra 5 fps that makes no difference in the first place.
@HIGHandFLYandRYE If it is raining outside then how would u play???? thats why the wii was designed so that u could experience real things at ur home.... ^_^
I don't know why people are "Thumbs Down" your comment. It's true. While the graphics are pretty good for the Wii using LAST GEN graphics adapters, the Wii graphics are nowhere close to that of the other two consoles. It all comes down to all the immature FANBOYS who hate being told their console of choice sucks or being told that there is ANYTHING wrong with it.
@nostradamus302 i do have the original, aand u rly dont need to move exactly like in real, bc gaming overall is still far away from being real, but it still works good enought to say the control is useful and fun. ps. i do play real tennis.
I doubt the PS3 would ever outsell the Wii but that tidbit of info sure does speak volumes that Nintendo isn't as invincible as they think they are. Sorry to burst your bubble, but WiiMP is only available for like two games and WILL NOT be compatible with previous games. Plus, it doesn't add THAT much more to what is already on the table. It adds a accelerometer which in all actuality, determines speed and the turning of your wrist. Sorry, but it;s not the end all be all of the Wii.
Is it just me, or does the guy presenting this keep pausing? As if waiting to be told what to say? Or forgetting the script? XD Anyways Wii MotionPlus looks top!!
Me and my friend play this and he said it actually helps his actual tennis game.
john locke sure knows a lot about grand slam tennis
I wish they still make this games or more updated games like this for wii.
you CAN use the nunchuk. This is just a Wiimote only demo. Everything you see works that way.
I won the Australian Open twice, the French Open twice and Wimbledon and the U.S. Open each once and I only have Wii Grand Slam Tennis for one week, this is the greatest thing since they invented sliced bread. The motionplus is incredible!!!

I bought it yesterday and its ...FANTASTIC!!
its hard in the begin but you get used to it.
Sorry for the bad english
mmm this may be the game I need! looks great!!!!
That's a good point. I have only heard that WM+ doesn't work the way it should with Grand Slam Tennis. With Tiger Woods Golf, it supposedly works pretty good.
The nunchuck's optional. You can choose to move the character yourself or let the computer do it for you. Either way you can still use motion plus
Amazing! Buying it now!
this game is going to be released on 2012 as Grand Slam Tennis 2 for the Xbox and PS3 which is awesome! I agree that the graphics is no where near to that of any other current gen console. but i still love my wii it offers some great gameplay

you press the up button or the down button to move forwards and backwards

How do you unlock the wooden racquets for your created player?
Lol you can see he is just looking at the lines he is supposed to say.
i love my wii
and he chooses the player with the longest hair!!!

look it up on wikipedia got a good lil description there
do we have to have the wii motion plus?
does wii motion plus work with wii sports? i mean does it make a difference?
nice
THIS GAME LOOKS AMAZING :D IM GOING TO GET THIS :D Great video
Dang Man I sure miss this game. I wish I would have never traded it in to help pay for my Wii U. What a freaking mistake that was.
I've traded in Wii games but EA Grand Slam Tennis will never be one of them. And you can still play it online which I love.
@SamJigga
hi
thank you for the reply.
I read some reviews which said racket sports was not as good as the free wii tennis game
OUT, OUT, OUT. Well played game director
we won't know if and how much better natal will be until it comes out and real games are made. Plus, price? Who knows. It seems more useful for other applications other than gaming as far as I see...

How does it tell when you have one hand on the raquet or two?!?!?
That seems to depend entirely on what kind of swing the game thinks you took. I forgot to add.....it also uses AMD processors as well so in essence, it's a hybrid of sorts. (I forgot all about that....my bad).
that was well put i couldn't agree more... I mean the game is ok but there needs to be so tune ups...
It's never a few seconds later for me.
I NEED IT !!
i want that game
you really know what you are talking about :) and yeah... both xbox and ps3 have been made with technology not yet available on pc for they cant be upgraded and are meant to last at least 5 years... IF programmed right, games on either of them can be even impossible on pc...

Are you sure your holding it right? I had the same problem until I held it the same way as Thomas (guy in video).
yes you can play without wii motion plus...and the game is still great. quickly became my no1 wii game :-)
no the motion plus is just for better accuracy
@leisurelydinner If you are not using the Nunchuk, then you have to press up on the D-Pad to run towards the net. That feels a bit awkward indeed, hence I'd rather have the Nunchuk attached. how much does the wii motion plus cost and is it mandatory for this game?
very fun, it`s not graphic of ps3 or xbox360, but is very funny
Hey i see why some people don't like it but most of my games for the wii are rated mature. and graphics are to me a gianant gimmick(that i too love but isn't even nessary to make a great game)

and, unlike most sports titles, you can't just ump in and play with this one. You have to practice and learn the mechanics.
Which game is the best? Virtua Tennis 4 or Grand Slam Tennis?
Lol you don't have to move your whole body you just have to move your wrist lol
Please someone tell me why my player's racket doesn't do the same as my wii remote !
Practice shot control. Get better. If you lose to anyone other than a serve and volley player, you just got to get better. I lost every game I played, even on Easy until I started figuring things out. Now I have 3 Grand Slams, and working on the last one. Then gotta win them all in one year.

hi i am wanting to buy this game but where is it cheapest so far i have seen prices at £29.96 anywhere cheaper
thanks
@ISAsoldier9 i believe in the force
same here
@waterwolf4 yes
I don't know why people are "Thumbs Down" your comment. It's true. yea its beter, im also thinking about buying it:P
PLUS, the fastest computer in the world is made of?? DRUMROLL........You guessed it....Cell processors.
@nostradamus302 i do have the original, aand u rly dont need to move exactly like in real, bc gaming overall is still far away from being real, but it still works good enought to say the control is useful and fun. ps. i do play real tennis.

@kayele got that right
I hate the YT commenting system. I have had the same issue.
@plessans well...you can still like video game tênis...and play the real tênnis...I play guitar but I still playing guitar hero...
what the hell is a motion plus?
although (to my comment) Wii motion plus would be cheaper and you wouldn't look like a psycho if someone looked at you through the window
