@@shivampatnaik2000 would be great if you can provide a link. However, SD Burman was known to use folk-tunes as inspiration. What made him stand out was excellent orchestration and melody. You can't take away the credit from him for making the genre reach out to the mass. I doubt if he ever copied an entire song, maybe just the first line or something as inspiration.
Is there a single musical instrument which is not used in this song - Veena , Santoor, Flute, Guitar, Tabla , Mridang, Dholak, Ghunghroo , Dhol, Violins, Strings, Chorus, Sitar,.. Everything is used so perfectly in this song.. Its BRILLIANT! Its AMAZING!!

The highlight of this song, apart from Lataji's voice and Burman sahab's music, is use of the purcussions which gives the appropriate flavour and vibes to the different scenes. Absolutely incredible!

I listened so many versions of this song from various singers but The way lataji sang at 6:06-6:07 was spectacular. No one could sing that note till now like how lataji sang.

Glad someone noticed that one. It's a deceptively simple sounding movement. And yes, whilst the overall melody is not all that complicated that one part is the one I haven't heard anyone else render in the same way. I normally do not use the word "gifted" as I believe everything is trainable and nobody is born gifted. However, in the case of Lata Mangeshkar I do believe that she was just ridiculously gifted.

This is possibly the best orchestrated song in Bollywood in Trademark SD style. Minimalistic use of the various instruments, everything fits in just like in a Symphony. The entire album is a masterpiece. Very tough to understand why neither National Award or Filmfare award went to the music director.

Shankar Jaikishan won the award for the movie Suraj rather than Guide.Though Suraj also had hit songs, S.D Burman should have won the award.

But the Name stuck in my mind and whenever I find a little lonesome I play this song on my mobile and remember that day ..

For me this is THE king's most authoritative composition where every instrument, voice, be it lead or supporting, is so aptly placed, the crescendo in the last antara.

I recommend that everyone should see both English version and Indian version of the movie GUIDE. Indian version makes Raju the greatest character human being on the surface of the earth(and that is the brilliance of movie director & script writer Vijay Anand).The English version of the movie was the Script written by Pearl S Buck (Nobel Prize Winner) & Portrays Raju the biggest Con artist. People in the West are wired different by THE ALMIGHTY.
