I use leave-in conditioner and hair oil at the ends, but it is not enough on super humid days and I just have frizz everywhere.

Leslie's hair looks so soft and luxurious. I love it! I am terrible with hair (and makeup, skin, beauty products in general lol), but already this channel has made my hair noticeably softer to the touch, and my dandruff flakes have gone away completely. My scalp doesn't itch any more and it no longer looks like my hair is thinning near my part (I don't think it ever was thinning there, but I wasn't shampooing properly so I had product buildup making my scalp all gross).

  • @spbslinky7381

Hi. Really been enjoying your video's. I, (53/m), being an old rock fan, have long, shoulder length, medium/fine hair, although it's thinning a little on top now. I haven't washed my hair for three years now, it's natural oils really do most of the cleaning. The only time I get it wet is when I colour it. (Often a reddish brown, once every 8 weeks).
Every 5 days I use a dry shampoo if needed, a leave-in conditioner and a tiny bit of hair oil on my ends, with a wet brush. It stays silky soft, and has a natural healthy shine.
It's amazing, when women ask how my hair looks so good, when i try to explain my hair routine, they look confused, many haven't even heard of leave in conditioner.
I now recommend your RUclips channel to them whenever this happens. It's nice to know that I've got the basics right, at least, after a lot of trial and error.

What’s funny to me is that caps and bonnets were clearly a common thing in previous generations among white communities, you can see them all the time in old advertising, movies, The Night Before Christmas poem, etc. I am 30 (white), and grew up with the impression these were things for “grandmas”. It’s kinda sad how in a short time (5 decades or less) we got so distant from what was basically universal common knowledge and now we have to “rediscover” it.

  • @Mzd455

I had a great hair day yesterday and today and after a long time a good photo of myself!!! I literally didn't know what to do anymore! I've been growing my hair for years and I had a huge hair loss back in 2019 due to flat iron, together with dying my hair blond for 25 yrs. I live in cold and later humid Chicago so I used to try to straighten my hair for so much frizz.
I realized over the time that it's worthless to do any heating tools, because as soon as you walk outside your hair will get frizzy if it's warm. Also after a heating routine if you go out on super cold air, that is also so dry, your hair breaks and I literally had that, I lost most of my length 3 yrs ago.
So I don't use any heating tool for 3 years now, I have large rollers to straighten, and I put my hair in a ponytail, then separate in 2 and make it look like a rope, clip on my head and sleep with it to have curls. My hair is covering my shoulders in the front and is much longer on the back, but got so messy. I kept putting more products in it and it would turn gross even clean. Sometimes I had good hair days but I would forget what I did. I wasn't sure if my hair was so damaged from just dying roots once, and why it looks so bad after I wash it.
The less is more, helped a lot. I watched a couple of your videos on Monday, I washed my hair, I put my leave in conditioner (collagen + biotin), I wrapped my hair and went to sleep.
I woke up with beautiful bouncy curly hair! I made my hairstyle, using as little hair spray I could, just to keep the hair out of my face, and tighten the teased hair on the top of my head that gives me volume, and as you described, I put the hair oil, strictly on the ends this time. I used to put it a bit higher as my hair looked dry but then I'd get poor looking hair as you said.
So today after so long, my hair had a nice texture, and I could see the length! When it is messy, frizzy or whatnot, it looks shorter as well. Also I got a purple conditioner and removed the brass after my last root dye. As I don't use the heat at all it's harder to dye the hair and in cold months ends up orange or ugly rusty color. I used that and my hair today looks so nice and like a salon taken care of!!!
Sorry for the long post but it was a long way to get to this point! I will look into the specific products you use and offer but I had everything already, just different brands, and with your advice it really gave me a good hair day in not so nice weather either .
    Awesome and thank you!!!

@@BlowoutProfessor Thank you so much because it really made me feel better! I have to say I did the same routine again and my hair looks and acts so good. There's no need to wash except every 4th day, but if I use dry shampoo spray I can extend it up to 6 days, especially if I do messy buns or some sort of braids. The baby hair and the ones around my face I wash in between days, with warm water and nothing but conditioner to remove the stiffness of the hair spray. But for 4 days strictly my hair has a good texture and no need to add anything. Just brush it in the morning and do the same hairstyle. It is important that I sleep with my hair in a tail, otherwise it would be all over the place.
You are a life and TIME saver!!!! 😅🤩

Hi, Chris! Thank you for all your help: I follow ALL your tips! I'm wondering if you might address this in a future video: [for context: My hair is shoulder-length and mostly one length.]: I follow your tips to sleep with my hair up, and to wash and/or heat-style only every 3 days or so. the struggle: When I take my hair down in the morning, there is so much "bun or ponytail volume" that it looks ridiculous and impossible to rehab; and additionally any waves or curls I put in previously seem to have disappeared due to having been "pulled up" all night. Since I don't want to heat-style too frequently, I usually just give up in the morning and default to a low ponytail. I'd love to learn some tips specific to combatting the "volume" (the wrong kind!) created by having the hair up all night; as well as not losing waves or curls in the nighttime updo either. Thank you for considering this idea!

The term you're looking for, to describe your hair is 'dense', not 'thick'. Your hair can't be 'fine' and 'thick' at the same time.
'Thick' describes the individual hair, 'dense' the amount of hair, you got.
Or at least, that's how I understand the terminology. I was confused about this, too, at the beginning. Hope, this is helpful!

It is hard to apply product to just the mids and ends when your hair is short. Some demonstrations on short hair (or older and grey hair) would be awesome. My hair just isn't damaged and I feel, it barely even needs conditioner... never mind a leave in, in addition to a styling product. It doesn't tangle, it doesn't frizz, it doesn't feel dry or damaged.
I like having lots of volume and I don't want to weigh my hair down, unnecessarily.

@@raraavis7782 he says everyone needs a leave in no matter what. Not sure how accurate but I’m your case I think just a regular conditioner would be fine tbh. Or a extremely light way leave in spray (4 sprays I say)

@@raraavis7782 if your hair is reacting positive to your current routine then there isnt much of a need to change your routine. if you want tr it see how it behaves if you dnt like it, stop.
now if you reallllyyyy want to try then what you can do is get a little and work your way up with wet-damp hair. its had to be at least damp bc if not its going to be heavy and it wont spread correctly (this is for wash day- every day styling you would do what he said above. seriously small amount of oil on your ends- work it up).
get a little bit of leave in, work it up.
get a little bit of oil (really-seriously little bit. again wet-damp hair) work your way up.
i love sporting shoulder length hair and my hair though its really healthy always appreciates when i add at least some leave in.
but again if your routine is working for you. i see no real reason why you would change it.

OMG Chris--By listening to your advice, my super dry/damaged hair has begun changing to healthy hair, and I am SO grateful to you! I'm a new subscriber, and haven't seen all your videos, but I'm hoping you can address the issue of at-home coloring and the sequence of products with that. I have always used semi-permanent color to minimize damage...Now when I use it, I'm not sure what in order to apply the color, versus the other products. Thank you for your fantastic videos! 🙂

I just bought a couple packs of disposable shower caps. And I just bought a bonnet for sleeping. My pillowcase is a synthetic silk which also works just fine. As to dry shampoo, many aerosol spray shampoos contain benzene, a very harmful chemical. I just use a powdered product on day 2 or 3. It is an inexpensive powder with no scent

    Blowout Professor, help!
All of us with wavy and curly hair need your wisdom... :) I've spent so much time watching routines for wavy hair and now I somehow found your channel and I feel so educated (thank you!!!) but when it comes to the wavy and curly hair there are so many cosmetics to use to style hair and also there are so many various hair dryer difussers (just to guarantee the extreme confusion to all users...) and so my question is... what products should we actually use for wavy and curly hair? With all of these creams and foams for curls - how many should we use and when and is the heat protectant also needed? I'm thinking about what you've said once or twice that too much products on our hair is not good at all. I think there are many of us, who need some more information on wavy and curly hair...
I have a dream to wash my head once or twice a week because the time spending on styling this little freaks on my head is such a waste of time... but how can i accomplish that when my hair need so many cosmetics to do one typical hairstyle?
Please please please - help wavy and curly viewers!
    Greetings from Poland❤🤍

A good silicone serum applied after conditioning, blow-dry then, apply some serum or heat protection before flat ironing no more products after that. Dual layer shower cap for bathing and a ‘sleep cap’ for bedtime.

I watch another video to leave in conditioner that I’ve been doing for years and I’ve been doing his hair cap on no hair wash days so I didn’t even know I was protecting in my hair. The only thing I was doing this from not getting it wet on days. I take showers no hair wash and I don’t wash my hair every 23 days the only tip I watch another video is that I need to start using hair shampoo spray when I have like dirty hair on no hair day wash, and the tip that you gave was not do use heat tools, give it a break like every three days or something like that so this really helped taking care of my hair on hair tips thank so much love watch all your videos on hair tips

The Revlon comes in two sizes. I use the smaller one for my shoulder length, heavily layered bob. It works very well. I'm a desaster with a round brush and this is the first time, I'm able to maintain a hairstyle, that actually requires blow drying. Although, if you have strands shorter then 3" or so, you will probably have to use a tiny round brush with lots of grip, to keep the hair under tension, during blow drying. The smaller Revlon is beat for 3-6", I'd say.
I would love a dedicated video for Bob length hair as well, though. I feel, lots of the suggestions for long, color treated, heat damaged hair just don't apply to me.
