It's probably a brownstone first floor apartment combined with the finished basement to create a duplex. What makes a "separate" apartment is a Kitchen. What makes a kitchen is a stove. There can however be a bar/ wet bar or kitchenette in the basement.
I was taught to leave it closed so that the moisture isn't trapped between all the folds when it's pushed open against itself. That way it dries out. Then put on the fan to remove the moist air.
Except a lot of fans can't properly air out a bathroom. That's why you wash and clean the liners routinely, and leave the curtains open to prevent mold growth in the walls/ceiling
I think she means leave the tub "open" as if the curtain is a "door" that she wants closed...notice she also had it opened and said it looks tidy. Probably just a slip of tongue. Also, I learned about keeping shower curtains open from Monica Gellar on an episode of friends lol.
This was the best episode yet! Her place is clean, modern and spacious with 2 kitchens and 2 washer/dryers!!! I pay close to 1000 for my space and it is not NEARLY as nice and I live 45 min outside Miami which is expensive be it's not NYC.
But that's because she has a bunch of roommates to help shoulder the cost. I would like to see one of these Refinery29 videos of someone in NYC or LA paying $2000 or more for rent and living by themselves.
Her place is amazing. Also props to her & her flat mates for keeping the place impeccably perfect. The only thing putting me off moving into a shared place is other people’s lifestyle.
I'm a New York native and can say that for $4k a month you can really find some really nice places here in NYC they are beautiful and so is your place. However, being one of the country's most expensive cities, you're honestly not gonna be able to find a really nice place like this one for much less (in some cases maybe but in most cases NYC is usually a city you gotta have to spend BIG in order to fine a really nice place for rent, and roommates is a great idea too
This place is beautiful, has 2 laundry closets, a huge room, backyard. Its amazingly nice. Love this place and 4k sounds very reasonable for am entire house.
Wait omg she has the hue smart lights in her room like I do in my apartment! Savanna sunset is my favorite 😍 Okay this episode is on my top 3 for sure 🖤
I love these videos.. Cost of living has gone up so much in LA thinking about moving but it pains me.. But seeing somewhere way more expensive makes me feel better 😩😂💆🏾♀️
Great place! Beautiful and functional! I lived this episode the best of the dozen or so I've seen because it doesn't have annoying music competing with Julie talking.
There's a lot going on this such a big beautiful space at affordable rent I love the interior so much....so bright and artsy, hope I will build a space like that too
You usually find a lot of pretentious, try-hards in these type of videos, but that wasn't the case here. Really appreciate the authenticity and genuineness of this gal.
They all have high paying jobs... Not to mention salaries are higher in NYC. People always forget that yeah, the city is expensive but you get paid more as well. Not saying that everyone makes it there, just saying they can afford it with their salaries.
From their parents. Notice how most of them are whites, and they are artists. My Asian mom would say there is no money in art! So yeah, now I’m an RN.😂
What other cities would you like us to feature on Sweet Digs? Comment below!
Atlanta
Charleston!
Cate I second Atlanta...even though I live in LA hehe!
Refinery29 keep doing NYC I love it but Boston would be cool
LA
This is probably the most worth it apartment 😮
I was thinking the same thing!
i thought so too!!
just what I was thinking!
I couldn't agree more.
Laundry in apartment and she only pays $1000 for a private room!!!!! Miracles happen!!
This space for $1,000 is NUTTTTSSSS. If you love your roomies, this is The Life.
imagine living there with your best friends😭
This is so worth it for $1000/room especially in New York!
+dojostan Agreed!
I guess you really have to know the other 3 roommates well
She's lying...There's no way they are only paying 4k a month for that apartment. Unless the landlord is giving them a pleasure discount.

Thats kind of cool especially having two kitchens.

Yeah it makes it easier to live with roommates
Yes 2 kitchens totally awesome 😎
And two washers and dryers! They never have to wait for laundry
"Ecspecially"
I adore how organized and clean and light and bright this apartment is!
This was the most beautiful of all the apartments I’m sobbing
Thank you, Liz!
You know what would be ideal? If you could make a video on roommates, how to find the right ones and such. A roommate 101 in NYC 🙌🏼
+m.lesliesaez Great suggestion!
I've heard good things about the Facebook group Gypsy Housing!
@@amym.1349 it's an amazing resource. Unfortunately since it's so insanely popular now, competition is much fiercer than it has ever been.

+rose :) Thanks for watching!!
I AGREE😍
Couldn't agree more - the best so far =)
I love her apartment! It just has a really cool and relaxed vibe as does she!
+ameliacolbert Agreed!
You should do some Sweet Digs in Chicago or Los Angeles! I love Sweet Digs so much!!! ❤️
Layla H. it would be refreshing to see Sweet Digs in areas other than NYC. D.C., Dallas, Miami, Boston, etc.
Yes Chicago!
austin, nashville, new orleans
+laylah. Working on it! :)
Boston and Chicago!
“One out of two kitchens” BRUHHH let me know when anyone plans on moving out I’ll jump on that reeeeeal quick
Cool. I think it more a house they are renting not an apartment. Still it very fresh and cozy.

It is a house, bush wick has brownstones that they modernized as well
I love how she low key aired the beef with her roommate about the curtain being left open hahaha
You're supposed to leave the curtain open after showering to help prevent mold growth. Air it out.
I was taught to leave it closed so that the moisture isn't trapped between all the folds when it's pushed open against itself. That way it dries out. Then put on the fan to remove the moist air.
That's what I thought. I also keep it open so an intruder can't hide behind it lol
Taught in military to leave it closed in order to air out all the folds. Inhibits moisture and growth of mold and bacteria
Except a lot of fans can't properly air out a bathroom. That's why you wash and clean the liners routinely, and leave the curtains open to prevent mold growth in the walls/ceiling

100000% my favorite feature so far. The space is unbelievable for NYC. She definitely hit a homerun there. Love it.
This is my absolute favorite place that I’ve seen so far!!
“We keep it colorful” *everything is either grey or white*
“i love wearing colorful clothes” her entire wardrobe is black white grey and neutrals
as someone who wears bright hawaiian shirts on the daily i’m bothered
ATLAS she did specifically say she had to wear mostly black for her work.
superCappy27 oh i didn’t hear that lol
There are a lot of colors, but they are mostly pastel
She reminds me of Kristen Stewart
Paige Peach true they give off same vibes!
Paige Peach yes! I couldn't figure out what about her seemed familiar. .that's it.
She’s prettier
Yes! The casual slouchiness gave off me those vibes too
I think she looks like 80s/90s Courtney Cox
Such a beautiful house! I love the design and how eclectic the whole space is!
+shawneeelliot Thanks for checking it out!! ;)

This place is so fun and creative. I hope she gets back into painting soon, it seems like it makes her really happy.
I like her. I thought I'd be annoyed when I saw the rent was $4000, but it's so cool that she shares it with other artists!
One of my favorites!!
Those pots look like they have never been used, for someone that likes to cook lol.
Nicole H they said the video is sponsored by target so they are probably new

I have that same couch but in green! :) Loved this apartment
i really need tips on how to keep my room organised because wow she is so neat
what's up with her saying "expecially" instead of "especially"
She seems cultured and aware but saying eXpecially makes her come across as goofy and uneducated.
it’s irritating as fuck
ikr English is not even my first language and I cringed each time
She's stupid.
It's cultural appropriation
She sorta sounds like and resembles Alexis Bledel “Rori” from Gilmore Girls
idk I see it.
kimberly806 omg I just said that
This one is my favorite and the best aesthetic!
Her bedroom's so gorgeous!!
