ive had the honor of diving kamloops, what an adventure and thanks for the upload this footage is incredible...lots of lore surrounds this wreck.....shes on her starboard side and is 200 ft down.....tec dive for me and it was soooo cold and scary......saw two bodies during my dive to her stern and there are more trapped in the bow end..one is in the engine room and one is one of the 2 women stewardess lost at sea(the other womans body was found w a few other sailors frozen marooned on an tiny little island not far from the sinking months later)...there is a memorial headstone ive seen pictures of commemorated to the crew on the island....whiteys body is in this video thats the white mass at 2:00 you see in the engine room tangled in the catwalk...gives me chills seeing this footage.....my instructor said the body is like soap and if you look close his wedding ring is still on his hand but i kept my distance...his desk chair is floating behind him up on the upper level of the engine room...lot of treasure divers have been down there messing with him and some of the wreckage has literaly been chained down by the nps to keep people from stealing souveniers....when you first descend the line attached to her stern you are right near the engine room and its the easiest place to enter the wreckage....so ya see him right away and get the tragic impact.....it is a gravesite afterall however a time capsule to be explored.....cool footage of the lifesavers.....tons of em down there....candys disolved but the rolls are still intact as they were in 1927......florshiem shoes, wheelbarrows, chicken fence and disc brake are all down there still in the cargo holds....so enlightening thanks again

She sailed with her first cargo from Teeside to Canada, it was said that she received many strange looks when on sea trials because of her configuration of pilot house forward as you only saw welldeckers in the North Sea in those days.

Corpses at 2:00 and 7:06. Human bodies under frigid waters do not decay as on land, the body fat turns into a white wax-like substance called adipocere (reaction with anaerobic bacteria). So the white figure you see at 2:00 is a corpse face down and at 7:06 there is another corpse (the white thing) behind the "disks".

My brother-in-laws dive buddy, Ken E, researched this wreck for years before he found the Kamloops in and my bro in law Dean was technical dive support for the initial discovery dive along with other divers needed at the lengthy decompress stops. Ken E was interviewed about his discovery on am radio WCCO shortly afterwards. Another diver friend of mine Ken H dove the Kamloops in the late 70s for a full color article featured in the Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper. I became certified at age 15 and spent the entire summer of '77 diving the south Florida gulf & the keys. Spoiled by the warm waters so early in my diving didn't stop me from my own Great Lakes wreck diving but I had little interest in those 200 ft dives mostly because of limited bottom time but also this was before mixed gas diving was popular and I didn't want to end up with nitrogen illnesses like so many divers in their old age had gotten. I still dive and wouldn't mind finding my own wreck one day but for now I'll just be happy to find fools gold like fishing lures & poles, anchors, sunglasses and the occasional boat engine at the bottom of Midwestern lakes.

Nice dive! Boat went down in Dec 1927. Apparently broke down heading to (Port Arthur, ON) Thunder Bay and drifted back across in a storm until the anchors fetched up a few hundred feet from the Isle Royale shore. Supposedly a couple of bodies were found on shore later but everyone else went down with the ship when she finally rolled and sank...thought to have rolled due to ice build up on deck and cabins while they worked on the broken down engine. Excellent diving at Isle Royale! Please respect the wrecks and remains!

2:00 is the body of "Grandpa" or "Old Whitey," nicknames that the divers gave the unknown corpse. It belonged to a crewman who's body never left the vessel, but National Parks and Services made the decision to leave it there because a) the person is a John Doe, so no one ever requested his body to be surfaced b) it would disintegrate if placed in a body bag because it's fragile. c) it's just a torso with some leg stumps, arms and hands. He wasn't alone, tho. A diver died in a tragic accident on the Kamloops. Not sure if they recovered the body tho. But, Grandpa is a good spirit. Divers reported the body floating and following them, but never attacking or trying to make contact. He's just enjoying the company he has with the divers. Some even reported to have shaked hands with him. He doesn't leave the wreck, tho. It's just his home where he welcomes the divers who visit. Pretty cool stuff, but the Park Rangers only let highly experienced and respectful divers to visit because of the stories about Grandpa.

YES, however it's NOT just one body down in that ship; there's many bodies. The bottom of this lake is the same exact temp we morticians cold store bodies, so the bacteria in our bodies that devour us when we die doesn't occur; and since that doesn't occur the body will not rise to the surface at all, it will remain under water and if it's in a wreck it will remain under the water in the wreck perfectly preserved. However, in warm waters our bodies will eventually rise to the surface because the bacteria is able to devour us causing bloating from all the gas build up.

I came here to see the wreck but picked up some anyways. Most people can't hear them but some of us still can. The ones I heard are residual, meaning they are from the past and were the actual words spoken. Kind of a loop from the past. There's more than these here but here are some more notable ones.
    2:24 "What happened!?"
