Day In The Life of a Female Chemical Tanker Driver | Schneider PAID me $350

- This was my first attempt at making a vlog. It is not perfect by any means. I tried to film a day in a life, but I decided to show you multiple clips about what happens to me over the course of several days. This is a tough job. With the temperatures rising, I have to deal with discomfort for hours while I unload these hazardous chemicals. Last week was my worse week on this dedicated account. I only drove 700 miles. Freight has been up and down. 6 drivers have resigned over the last 2 months due to the constant changes in pay and inconsistency in freight. Also, I was mistaken. After looking at my pay stubs, I was actually paid $350 dollars for 700 miles. My pay is supposedly 52 CPM, but I am only paid 50 CPM for anything under 1000 miles, after observing my other paychecks. Obviously the pay is not on par. However, I HAVE to constantly remind myself of this: Everything in life is temporary. Everyone has the power to change their circumstances.
Also, I blurred out a bunch of stuff, which was very hard to do. I hope it’s not too distracting. I did the best I could.
#truckingvlog #schneider #pay
This is the 2nd time I have come across your videos. New subscriber. I am in my 50s and will be going for my CDL this winter. I am now strongly considering getting a tanker and hazmat endorsement.
@@MsT6899 that’s awesome! Go for it!
I loved driving for Schneider bulk division. In 2011, I was making $300 a week. I would do 1 trip a week, and when I got back to Keasby, NJ. I might move tankers from one yard to another yard, and that was my week. Many times, I had Sat, Sun, and Mon off. It's sounds like Schneider is doing the same thing in 2024. Keep your head. Something great will happen for you in the trucking industry.
That’s crazy how things never change with these companies 10+ years later
The pay is very very low for the first 1-3 years as a rookie. Its just a company to start with then leave after 6-12 months otr and find a new company. Alot of rookies average $450-$500 a week working for Schneider and theyre confused why their website says something totally different about what to expect for pay
Yeah I’m not sure why Schneider says the wages are higher than what they’re really are. Lots of deception. Annoying 🙄
❤❤🎉🎉 thank you for the video it help me alot
Advice do not listen to negativity you're doing good do a year and you would be straight simple
Do not do Dry Van or Flatbed that's down always do specialty like tank, cattle, cars, end dump, oversized yes is work but specialty always pays and Do not listen to Men believe it or not Men are envious, traitors and don't like women on this job because they feel some type of way they always will try to make a point ..... I know why Iam saying this and if you ever do business always watch for them simple Yes you Still would find Gentlemans that are respectful still not trying to pass the line or lie etc But be careful
I wonder why are they even charging miles for a local position, unless it’s semi local?
Loves showers are great and bigger . I prefer them over pilot
I gotta convince someone at a loves to let me use their shower points someday lol
@@Tay.juhWoods I wouldn’t mind letting you test them out. Just lmk
Hello Tajae there several companies out there that will be a good fit for you try heniff and quality carriers also highway transport stay strong you have a good attitude love it
Thank you. It’s actually getting better. Not sure how long that will last. Freight has been up and down.
You will know when to leave. Stay strong. Gain experience and count your blessings. Many wont dare do what do for living. #tankerlife
Thank you for your words of encouragement 😊😊
You're welcome 👍🏾
You asked about other truck stops beside Pilot and Flying Js? I prefer TAs. They usually have food, showers, laundry, truck service and sometimes plenty of parking. Flying Js have Dennys. So if I want a quick breakfast, I go there. TAs have different restaurants besides Subway, Arby's and McDonald's. Loves used to be my favorite but they fell off plus the parking can be slime.
@@samuelbacote2899 so true. TA does have the best restaurants. I wanna try the iron skillet at petro
@tajaewoods not a bad idea. Not sure of your lanes but TA and Petro in every state to try.
That’s crazy low for hazmat. I was thinking about applying there when I finish CDL school. But I think I may try and get in at Prime and do otr reefer for a year, then try for a company that specializes in tanker/hazmat. 😕
If you wanna do tanker, I advise you do it immediately. Because if you go down that route (otr reefer), you’ll find that many tanker companies want one year TANKER experience. Schneider is the only company that gave me a chance. I gotta make the most of it
The Lowe's account in Tobyhanna, PA was paying pretty well when I was there. Way less work as well, just drop and hooks.
Those companies will keep you broke to keep you in that truck
Your young and really don’t understand that yet, do your time and get out No if ands or buts Just move lady !!
Yeah. It’s ridiculous. Changes in pay are never to the driver’s benefit with these companies
Every account pay difference! Don't hate mega carriers your on the wrong account. I was on target account w/jbhunt best and easy money of my life. Schieder has target accounts maybe not in ur area. SWIFT, jbhunt is about the right account
Skip the background music when you're talking. You have a good voice. Company highway robbery. Working for pennies. Such a shame! How much time do you have left to stay with them ?
lol I hate the sound of my voice. I stumble over my words a lot 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Still not comfortable with talking in front of a camera. I have about 7 months before I can move on.
You are fine. Clear voice. Easy to listen to. Keep up the good job! Hang in there. It will go by fast.

@@Pkemstr1 dang. What happened with the fuel job? I would’ve stayed there 🥹🥹🥹. Unless you have 20+ years experience, you won’t make 300-400 a day at Schneider 😮
@@Tay.juhWoods was just looking to do something different, just trying too dip my toes into more hazmat, or livestock. Yeah depending on the company load pay or hourly, hauling fuel is great business.
There was a time they had a weekly minimum pay no matter what. You should have that. Especially for eco lab.... one of the most involved accounts they have. Great video. Good luck
I am not sure why they don’t have a minimum pay. There are other accounts that involve less work, and they have minimum pay guarantees. I just don’t understand why can’t there be a minimum pay across the board. Makes absolutely no sense
You should have went tanker Jetset. You would have been considered experienced if you had more than 6 months commercial driving (which I think you had with the other companies) their pay is 20hr on duty and 30-34 dollars hour drive time. You negotiated a bad deal. If Aaron(Houston OPM) is still there put in a request and scream pay inequality!! They don’t want legal heat for discrimination.
Haha damn. Jet Set isn’t available in my area for tanker. I live in PA.
Jetset is a traveling position, they you to areas of need for 3 weeks then home for a week. So 3 weeks on 1 week of
Have you look in to food grade tanks?
I don’t deal with surge as much since my tanks are baffled
You definitely speaking the truth about them cheap paying Mega carriers~saw a video of a guy who was paid a whopping $200 bucks for a whole week on the road that’s just not right. But yet all you hear is about the driver shortage, why in the heck do you think people are not coming into this industry, only freaking industry where you aren’t paid overtime or paid for sitting around or will pay you after the 1st two hours man I could go on and on and on and on makes no sense
If only more companies followed Walmart’s model. They pay drivers $8,000 a year in per diem for drivers to sleep in their truck
Yes Walmart pays pretty good, their system is kinda different you basically kinda dispatch yourself as a driver you set your ETD(estimated time of departure) which means the time you’re going to be ready to depart the DC I’m on a stay on schedule with a 23:00 out the gate time. So what you’ll do once you’re empty at your last stop you let them know when you’ll be ready. How you set your time you factor in whether you want to take a shower, go get something to eat, fueling your tractor and anything else you need to do. Are they strict yes, nitpicking sometimes but it’s worth it because they will bend over backwards for you they just expect you to do things their way
Sherwin Williams pays pretty good money to coz they haul their own products just like Walmart, Ashley Furniture Industry is another one that pays pretty decent why because they haul their own product imo private fleets are the way to go if you can get on with them
@@JeffLane-m5s oh yeah for sure. The benefits are much better too.
Nice video what was inside the buckets🪣
That bucket specifically; I think that was detergent. We haul industrial cleaning chemicals for food and beverage companies on this account.
If you have an automatic restriction your screwed as far as hazmat....Your only hope is pilot or Gemini or kenan advantage. All the local hazmat companies that fuel normal gas stations use manual trucks...
Don’t have a restriction, but I am only interested in driving automatics 🤣
Great video! I have my CDL A I was thinking about applying to Schneider, but was wondering if it’s worth it.
I definitely recommend them. You’ll get great training. But don’t expect to make a lot of money here. Keep your expectations low
Mega carriers will cheat you as much as you let them
maybe you can find a nich that works, I like you started at sni to get 'my time in'.over the road for a couple of years, finally got a intermodal out of syracuse. stared 5 on 2 off , when they needed a 4 day weekend driver i steped up worked thursday- mon. 3 days off. and they payed a weekend premium. a good pay was $300./per day. 90%drop and hook . now i have been retired 4 years now . maybe look around those jobs are out there
That’s awesome. Yeah. I’m just doing my time until I can find something bigger and better
yea, thought i would put my time in and leave, but this nich came with sni keep your eyes and ears open i ended up staying with them for 22 years
They take care of their equipment but they don't take care of their drivers go drive a city bus you can make 100K and higher without blinking an eye and not working as hard after the 7 months is done run for the hills

Stick it out driver! The pay will improve at your next job after you gain some experience. I’m a ex Schneider tanker driver. Worked out of the Coropolis PA terminal for almost 2 yrs., still drive tanker but not for Schneider.
Not sure where you live but sheetz is hiring fuel haulers out of Neville island staring pay of 38.65 per hr, local, 4 day work weeks time and half over 40. I don’t work there but I’ve considered it. I live In Cleveland now which sheetz is hiring there too.
The thing is they want experienced drivers.
2 yr minimum if you complete there training corse or 4 yr min and you can skip that.
That could be a job to try to get if you can stick it out at Schneider a bit longer.
Wish you the best.
Just remember there are many worse starter company’s you could have chosen to work at.

Schneider is a good starter company for hazmat. Much better companies out there, just have to do your due diligence. Love this stood vlog let’s keep em coming 💯

Jus don't give up..u have 7 months left the struggle is almost over.. and jus remember after the raining storm its a sunshine after that keep trucking 🦾
Thank you 🙏🏽. I’m trying. But I do have a 900 mile load due Monday so hopefully next week is better
@@Tay.juhWoods you got this and stay positive 💯
350 bucks for just going 700 miles is pathetic. If you were working with dollar general on their fleet, you’d still probably bring in about $1000 a week. I’ve heard that Schneider is good for training, but I chose not to go with them, because when I saw the pay and what other drivers of sad I knew I couldn’t put myself through that. Props to you for trying though. It’s a bit of a myth that companies won’t take you if you have more than one job in a year. It really comes down to the recruiter, but there are a few companies that are specialize that kind of consider that. Really when you can explain to them why you’re leaving that’s usually enough. Be it for home time or because your pay isn’t consistent or just not enough to even live off of. Nobody driving and working almost 70 hours a week should make under $1000. The problem with what recruiters tell you you’re going to make is they always go by the top drivers, and it could be drivers that are in areas of the country that already pay more than usual. So it just creates a really toxic situation for everybody coming in. No one wants to stay because they were promised $100,000. When in reality they’re going to make about 50 or 60. To me it be better just to say hey you could make 65 to 70 average. That way if you just come a little short, you’re not that upset. Still even if your home daily drivers that are doing that should be making at least 65K. Sadly, this industry is turning into one where most drivers come and go within the first two years. It no longer pays to have experience.
Thank you for your input. I appreciate that. Maybe I should ask a recruiter if they make exceptions
Hello awesome vídeo very instructed I’m almost 20 years driving a semi sometimes company and many years as an owner and now gess what I got to go back to company driver in order to get my experience in TANKERS what’s other subscribers says about been specialized loads is 100% true stay away from dry vans flatbed or reefers those types of loads my friend sucks every times economy crash brokers start doesn’t pay a payload or go bankrupt or rates are ridiculous cheap like right now so what I means stay specialized cattle livestock, tankers aeronautical transportation like planes turbines stepdeck but it’s super complicated to get into or exotic car haulers or boats I’m getting into a OAKLEY to grab my tank experience again good vídeo have a nice day

Doesn’t sit right with me that some of these tanker companies pay so low. I’m a local home daily fuel hauler in Texas and gross 100k. My boss has assured me although they pay me well, there’s still meat left on the bone for them to still profit a lot. I get paid $31hr

I refuel at Love’s 75% of the time even though I get reminded by my DTL from time to time to use Pilot. Agree with you pay is always changing…..never for the better….advantage always leans to big orange. Keep your head up, there are always bad weeks….just not as frequent. Nuke power plant deliveries are interesting, definitely something different. Nice post-trip! Stay safe…!!
Whenever I try to get fuel at a different pilot location, contrary to the fuel solution on the tablet, the transaction gets blocked. Not sure why. And Thank you. 😊
That is really interesting. I can fuel at Pilot, Loves or TA. Stopped using the fuel solution on the ELD; only when in unfamiliar territory….which is rare. I would check with other drivers at your OC if they have the same restrictions on their fuel card. Not to say that big orange doesn’t have different policies in different areas….we know how that goes. Here’s hoping you have a better week ahead…!! Sometimes it can be crazy busy also!!
@@Tay.juhWoods 🙂 for a solution to the fuel solution, try if this works: when u get to the truck stop, bring up the fuel solution thingy and request a new fuel solution, it should ask u wheres your fuel level at? so tell the fuel solution that ur tank is at Zero or almost Zero, send in the request, the fuel solution should calculate and figure out that the nearest fuel stop from your present location is the truck stop you are presently at because u told the fuel solution that your running on fumes, if it works then u should be good to go, the only other thing to worry about is how long does it take for the fuel solution to update your fuel card? How many minutes? You mite want to first go inside the truck stop and freshen up while ur waiting for everything to update so that when you get back to the truck u can fuel up with no problems once u pull up to the fuel island.

Sure, buddy
loves is my truckstop of choice
Allow me to provide you with a better understanding of why the pay has changed. I presume that your pay per mile has remained unchanged. The change in pay is influenced by the principles of supply and demand. An apt analogy would be the stock market 📈 📉. Currently, there is reduced consumer spending, resulting in lower demand and an oversupply of trucks. This scenario is impacting every trucking company in some way. Two main factors have contributed to the decrease in overall pay rates: a shortage of available loads or the expiration of contracts, and the need for renegotiation in response to the current market downturn.
Thank you for your analysis. I appreciate that. 👍🏽
