I really appreciated this RUclips video. Lately, I have been going back and forth trying to decide whether to go the management route or stay technical. I think my current management could benefit a lot by watching this video. Especially, in the soft skills and career coaching piece.

Thank you so much for the feedback! Considering going into management was a big decision for my career as well. There are many organization where managers can still be technical in their roles. Take a look at technical manager roles where you might have "dotted line" reports and you'll still execute technically in your role.

Thank you for making this video about Cyber Security Manager because I find it funny that if a Naval Officer coming straight out of the Naval Academy with no experience can be put in charge of Senior personnel, then it can happen anywhere else. With that being said, your video clearly states that it is possible to be a Cyber Security Manager with less experience than your Senior counterparts. Thanks again and best wishes to you!!!

Thanks for watching and indeed, I see your point. I would say that on average, managers and above do have more experience than those they manage, but experience can look very different across various organizations. I don't think experience is only quantified in the number of years worked, but rather in the roles that the practitioner has served in.
A security professional might have 5 years of experience in offensive security and become a manager of a group of individuals with 10-15 years of experience enterprise IT.
      Hopefully that makes sense.

After 20 years in the military in logistics I look forward to getting into this field. My college offers a 1 year cybersecurity program with an internship and job offer. Is $60K a good starting salary? I’m learning it’s more about experience in cybersecurity over degrees…

Indeed! I plan to do more! I want to cover being a cybersecurity architect and expand on the role of a cybersecurity manager. Is there anything else you would like to see from the channel?

@@strugglesecurity Thankyou !! Yes if you could explain how to navigate in the career from Infosec analyst to Sr.Analyst/Engineer.
And also explaining how can people navigate within the domains of cybersecurity (GRC/Architecture) at the mid senior career level. That would be very helpful sir. Thankyou !!
