i am from Lakki Marwat and my father (Salah Ud Din Muhtaj) is a famous poet of 1980 to 2010 in Lakki Marwat and Marwat Famous Singar Damsaz Marwat sings so many songs of my Father.
I can’t express my feelings how Zulfi create a masterpiece. We overseas Phataan are so proud of you sir to recognize our Phataan culture which is fading but coke studio revive it again through this song. In addition to KPK, this tradition of applying black coal on the face also exists in Punjab. Growing up in a village there, during summers, we used to smear black ash from beneath the griddle (tavi) onto one person, whom we referred to as "kala dhoda." Together, we would visit every household, singing a rain prayer song. In return, they would offer money or grains, which we would share equally among us. However, the person with the black ash on his face would receive double the share. Reflecting on this scene fills me with nostalgia, reminding me of cherished memories. It's a poignant reminder of how this song symbolizes the close bonds between our cultures, despite the perceived differences.

Beautifully done. I am so glad we are seeing all these new artists this season. Living in Southern California, I miss the live concerts I enjoyed back home in Lahore. The only window left for the diaspora is through youtube and Coke Studio. Its a pity we don't get many Pakistani artists performing live here in California. But now I know about Rehma. I got to check out her other work and will definitely would go see her live in LA whenever she does a live show!
