I remember it just like yesterday I was only 12 years old and it was snowing outside and it was getting so late I can barely keep my eyes open but I had to stay up to watch the Olympic games because Tara was going to be in it and she won and I was so excited I even bought her book I thought she was so amazing that is a memory I'll never forget

I'm impressed she has been able to keep her home after 13 years. A lot of people would of lost it after getting rich at such a young age. Also very interesting how the decorating hasn't changed at all since the last time we saw her home.

Tara made a huge success of her life after the Olympics unlike Kerrigan or Debi Thomas, etc. So nice to see such a positive, likable person succeed.
I believe that Tara’s father is a very successful physician. Debi Thomas is either an MD or DVM., so Dr. Thomas.

Tara's father is a lawyer. Debi was a physician but only practiced a few years. Her life has unraveled. She is bankrupt, lost custody of her son and is living in a trailer.

Your home is just beautiful, your design Impeccable. I to am in South Carolina in Greenville in Paris Mountain. The beach has it all over the mountain for beauty! This summer I want to rent a condo near Hilton head or any of the islands on the coast. Usually, go to Charleston or Myrtle Beach, but your place looks like heaven.
Beautiful! Only 1 piece of advice. The grand piano or any piano should not be near any outside walls or windows. Messes up intonation which wears on expensive parts inside of over time. Yes my degree is music and my first instrument was piano. Mom's a pianist as sister in law. Sister in law was a big star. She'd totally agree with my 1 piece of advice.

She has a high paying job. And earned a lot in her endorsements during her hay days. She sure knows how to handle money.
Most figure skaters do not make that much money. As mentioned previously, she is a figure skating star. She has had access to money-making opportunities that less proficient skaters will never have. And I’m hoping she has savvy and honesty in investments so that her money doesn’t slip through her fingers. Best wishes for a well-deserved life of luxury

Went to Kiawah for 20 years when I was married. Played the ocean course many times, I've seen her house, it's unbelievable. It is the ultimate gated community, but they treat people like southerners.

It’s a beautiful home, the one thing I’m not big fan of is her pool. If you’re gonna have an infinity edge pool it’s gotta have some sort of scenery and not just bushes and trees.

I recall back when she built it, etc. She said she and her mother decorated together, so perhaps her mom helped with the design as well. I'm sure she alao had professional help as needed/desired.

Why do you think it's sad? I think it worked out great for her. She got to design and build the home SHE wanted instead of settling for someone else's design.
It's a lovely home. I'm a Carolinian. Let's hope no big hurricanes hit. You don't find many vintage homes on NC or SC beaches. Even though it appears her home is very high up I still may have considered stilts for a foundation. The few I've known that owned beach front NC homes (even on stilts) are gone today.

After listening to that Great Lakes accent, you even have to ASK? NO! First of all, people in the South, do NOT give their children names from 'Gone With the Wind' (we forgive Yankees who do, but for ourselves, it is strictly verboten ). 'Tara', 'Melanie', 'Rhett', 'Brett', 'Ashley' - and, EXPECIALLY, 'Scarlet' - are all strictly off-limits as babynames. (and if you don't believe ME, please consult 'A Southern Belle Primer') But mostly, it's her accent that tells any American native-speaker, that she's from someplace FAR from the South. That said, her home is LOVELY, and is a wonderful addition to Kiawah.
