"You can do that for as many times as you have extra copies of your main boss." Ah yes, let me ride 4 times in the ride phase which is limited to 1 ride per turn unless an outside effect states otherwise.
@@yowai1604 I'll give it to you that it'll get you a second ride in your main phase but where is the 3rd or 4th? Masque of Hydragrum states you have to have a non-masque vanguard to use it's effect to ride a masque unit, so once you use it once you'd be unable to again as none of the decks that currently have a masque form in standard have a way to change back in that same main phase. Also I believe in the context they where speaking in it was in regards to persona riding and the bonuses it provides. Sadly Masque of Hydragrum will only give you persona ride if your opponent is grade 3 and you didn't already persona ride that turn so there's a chance that the extra ride doesn't even give you a persona ride when it happens.
37:34 To preface, all nations have access to all triggers, with it being even as they are all equal so there is no unique regular trigger card for each nation or archetype. That would belongs to the each nation’s Overtriggers, whose unique aspects are the additional effect they give when checked, mostly useful during a drive check. But as a baseline, they give a huge boost when checked offensively and defensively, and are subsequently removed from play. Though the huge boost they normally give when checked is offset by the fact you only can have 1 Overtrigger in your deck, and they just become a more beefy shield if you normally draw into them.
Yeah, there's definitely a lot to consider in Vanguard (especially what effects can be deemed "strong") but generally, like you mentioned before, it doesn't usually cost anything to play your units but having the ability to call units out of your deck or even your drop zone to preserve your hand is really good. Especially if you're summoning units during the battle phase to get more attacks beyond your normal 3. I was a big fan of what deck archetypes were chosen for each nation too. It gave a chance to show how differently decks can play for sure. Really happy people get an idea of what current Vanguard is like as well.
Here's some historical context with these decks: Eva - Considered one of if not the best deck in the format a while ago once it got its 2nd wave of support, it fell off for a bit due to getting hit by the banlist, but new, incredibly powerful support and a banlist unhit has recently propelled it back to top tier status. Bruce - One of the first decks released for the Standard format, I'd say it was definitely one of the weaker Set 1 decks, which a trend that continues to this day despite its new support. Gandeeva - The undisputed best deck in format for a long, painful few months before thankfully getting hit by a banlist. Mythiarq - A kind of awful deck on release that got a bit better with more recent support. Probably better known for one of its support cards, Mythiarq Habitat, being an incredibly strong generic order card played in a bunch of Stoicheia decks. Siana - A fairly recent deck that is unfortunately not that great. Bouncing units back to the opponent's hand is generally incredibly bad as it lets your opponent replay them and retrigger on place abilities, and its payoff is not that great. However, new support did recently get announced, which gives even more defensive, control tools and more importantly better offense for the deck, so we'll see how that pans out. Rezael - A very new deck (like literally just released last set) that's pretty strong. I'd say it's a comfortably high tier deck, but I'd hesitate to rate it higher than that especially since it released along side one of the best decks of the current format, Varga.
Wasn't Set 1 Standard basically just "Play Bruce or Bastion or lose. Whoever goes first between these two basically wins". Or was that more from Set 2 upon release of Derrick? Because I remember Marjorie and the steam dragon was Set 1.
1-since we got the grade 1 order, the deck propelled to one of the best decks in the format, which was brought to attention by DifferentFight 2-it was the stronger deck of the set-nirvana got much better but was still mid, seraph and magnolia were much better but still lacking, bastion was insane, and Bruce was also pretty insane, so it was one of the BETTER decks of the format, even if the other set 1 decks are brought into the question 3:True, but funny fact is only a small few people saw how broken it would be on release. The only other deck that was remotely close to its level was wilista 4:correct on the mythiarq stuff 5:I won't say that's exactly the case. Deck hasn't seen much play, but it was quite strong on release and after support released, but as the Meta was just too fast, it never had a good chance to shine 6:thats true, but recently it has become the bdif, giving it a much needed push
For a bit of context, you were shown 6 color-equivalents in this video, but historically the game had a whopping 24 before. in 2021 Vanguard launched the Standard format which all this cards belong to, where the main reason was to reorganize the 24 clans as they were called into the 6 nations shown here, where lorewise the clans merged into nations so you'd see aesthetics from the old clans represented in the new nations. They made this because supporting 6 colors in a booster set is considerably more realistic than needing to support 24 colors. Before you could go over a year without ANY support because they had to go through all 24 clans at a rate of maybe 3-4 per any given set and the popular ones often got multiple sets in a row taking space from the other clans that could've used those slots. In the new system even if your archetype doesn't directly get supported in a set you're still bound to find cards you can use since all the colors are in each main set. One last tidbit, allegedly (ALLEGEDLY it was never confirmed) Vanguard had hired a fair amount of MTG designers and that was a major reason for the decision to switch to the 6 Color system used now.
I feel confident saying that Gandeeva has less actual words than 'Nirvana High Paladin' or Endymion. But if someone wants to count them I'm happy to stand corrected.
Ok just went through the entire video eva right now is tier 1 they have a promo that just got released where it turbos the deck a lot faster so you were right about eva is best deck follow by razael, follow by gandeeva , mythiarq, then bruce and lastly Siena
Something I'd like to mention is that if your opponent's front row is empty Siana is asking your opponent to throw down three cards to guard otherwise you will still get that effect, it's not as apparent but she is suppose to always net you a +1 whether that is through the extra drive or your opponent throwing down more guard than necessary or sometimes both. She can be really tanky, that order you guys briefed through she's one of the few decks that likes to run them. Eva is also really good, I think it's actually better than Rezael, it's very bulky, it can wipe the frontrear guards, and crit pressure is great. Rezael is the third because its a good resource engine with good power but it isn't as threatening than Eva tbh. Gandeeva was good and would be the best out of all of these if it were not for the restriction, the restriction makes him middle tbh.
I freaking love Vanguard. I would love to see more videos on it. The newest set that is coming out is fairly self contained so it's pretty easy for new players to get into it. Especially with the structure decks they release.
I haven't played much of Vanguard beyond some of the video game. A lot of the impressions I got was that cheating out rear guards is at least in my impression rather pointless since you can fill your entire field super easily anyway and removing your opponent's, while good, is something you would rather just have as a free bonus rather than a major part of the win con. And returning them to hand seems kinda pointless or even counterproductive if they have effects that activate when they're played. Seeing "put all your Triggers back into your deck" I immediately was like, "I've seen enough, that's the best deck out of these."
"Cheating" cards in a game with no summon restrictions still has purposes. 1 is anything that can come in during combat after something in your initial board has attacked, regardless of where it came from, is a new summon that can also attack. The other is simply that every space you can occupy with a card that came from the deck/soul/graveyard is 1 more card staying in your hand, in a game where discarding is the primary means of defending yourself. The reverse of this being everything you kill from the opponent's board with an effect is a card coming out of that in-hand reserve of defenders to re-occupy that space.
In Divinez Format, you can only have 8 of a trigger at max, and the deck total is 50 in the main deck and 4 in the ride deck. Once you get to turn 3, you would probably have like only 3-4 crits in drop, so it's not that broken. However, it is amazing if you have a low amount of cards in deck, thus your checks will always hit triggers.
Also it specifically says critical triggers in Rezael. So: Once per game. Only Criticals, so at max 8 cards. Only triggers gain heal when you hit 6th damage.
I was heavily invested in the first iteration of card fight vanguard Probs bought cases of the original 17 sets.this was when I was still playing yugioh aswell Then they rebooted the game making all my investments worthless I Then tried the reboot and then 6 months later they rebooted it for a second time I quit playing vanguard to soley focus on yugioh
@@MrMarnel No, PGs require another discard and they only stop 1 attack. Swift scarecrow ends the battle phase. No BP effects, no other attacks, and possibly stops the drive checks as well, depending on how it's ruled. Not to mention PGs are so good you can only run 4, and you always want to. By the same token, Even Kuriboh might be banworthy, as a PG that doesn't discard, and that you can run alongside your PGs, let alone SS, which might genuinely be better than Zarzan.
I don't know much about Vanguard, only played Dear Days for a few hours and watched some streamers every now and then, but I do know Mr Moneybags and was totally expecting to see him here. Rezael has a print that's slightly upwards of 200 euro and afaik the rest of the deck is also on the costly side (with a quick search the good boy goes for around 10 for example). I also find it really difficult to evaluate Vanguard cards because they always seem like they do so much but the effects feel very same-y. Fun video.
FYI that 200 euro Rezael you're thinking of is an Alternate Art print the regular Rezaels is on the $8 territory. As for the rest of the deck being price it is mainly because players are throwing an engine made of generic staple cards that yeah make the deck better but are entirely not required for it to function.
@@elin111 Yeah maybe I should have clarified it's not the only print of the card but I think it's worth noting it exists and people go a bit crazy when they pull it.

YES! I really want to see Vanguard content in this channel. BTW, I think rating Standard format Vanguard archetype as a whole is pretty difficult and can get outdated super quickly bc it's pretty easy for each archetype to get good or broken supports in the new set or promos that push that deck to the meta. Imo, out of the 6 archetypes you rate in this video. I think my rating in the JP meta (which has banlist not too different from EN as YuGiOh and it a few months ahead of EN.) would be 1. Eva: She got the new form that synergize super well with her old form. Also, the promos for this deck is so good that makes this deck super strong and super consistent. Like, you can get persona ride every turn. 2. Razael: Razael is very good and generic boss unit that can use many good generic cards like Cerrgaon really well. At debut, this deck was 1 of the meta deck. RN, this deck has seen a lot less top than before but still pretty good. 3. Mythiarq: This Mythiarq Guardian card helps this deck a lot. She can recycle cards from drop to use in the next turn like another copies of boss unit to persona ride, or you can let her stay on the field (if your opponent isn't a deck that can retire) and have 5 waves of attack each turn. 4. Gandeeva: After Stirgma got hit, the deck is a lot easier to get the pace controlled by opponent bc Counter blast is pretty limited resource (unless that deck has good Counter charger, which Gandeeva doesn't) and opponent can control how many damage to give. With Gandeeva use Counter blast for both retire and generate more waves to attack. The deck is a lot less threatening. 5. Siana: I'm not sure about this ranking the most bc Siana just more support that can give this deck more wave to attack, but afaik, I think the deck is still not strong to fight meta. 6. Bruce: There're 2 major problems about Bruce - Bruce just the new form but he plays differently from other older Bruce. - This Bruce + the older G3 Bruce give you final rush at the start of ride phase. So, at the first G3 ride turn, you won't get final rush until the next turn and many support requires final rush. The deck is too slow for this current meta.
55:00 Tbf, I think right now Eva is the best deck of the bunch, since it got the new support. I would rank them: Eva Rezael Gandeeva Bruce Mythiarq Siana
@@RinaShinomiyaVal How to tell someone has never actually played CFV starting with them calling it "reboot". Besides would you rather take the Yugioh route that led it to where it is now with Snake Eyes?
I will say this. Vanguard feels like it was created in a lab. The focus on combat makes it exciting in a way that Yugioh or magic seem to have moved away from. Diversity cut alongside the fact that changing your grade 3 alone basically entirely changes your deck's identity means there's deck variety in VG that other card games can only dream of. Triggers and other luck based mechanics take away from the skill aspect a bit, but gives the game a certain amount of suspense that I'm sure any Tearlaments or Adamancipator gamer can relate to (Screw overtriggers though) That being said, it feels too streamlined, almost fake in a way that's a bit hard to explain. It feels like it was created in a lab, and that turns me away somewhat.
Lets goo id you do another one i would lovw to see you do older decks form other formant these are all mondern decks and newest formant. I also would look see instead of looking at differwnt nations look at the same nation each nation has mutlipule decks
This is one of your best episodes of this series. I don't really know anything about Vanguard, and this managed to showcase Vanguard cards really well.
first thing i would ask is "how much powercreep did the game get?". i think of how much faster and powerful yugioh got since vanguard's first episodes of anime and i think "these cards you started with arent all that much more powerful than what was in first anime". i mean they are better but like they are either not very good or the game didnt get powercrept much. also i didnt know the game had sexy men too. i only knew about the boba cards lol
That's because CFV had 2 seperate format rotations(the 2nd of which nearly killed the game due to being poorly handled) while Yugioh never had any. Looking at the premium format it's a lot closer to yugioh. Though the powercreep is definitely there even with these cards, old cards used to cost 2 counter blasts just to retire 1 rear guard, nowadays 1 counterblast gets you a retire plus extra.
Next time, can you try to show a small game of vanguard to at least show how Vanguard is played, at least only up to the end of the turn 4 of one player to at least grasp how the game is played. Easiest way to grasp Vanguard is to play with no effects except G0 and G3 VG I supposed. Here's also more info about the archetypes. For Eva: You can only play 1 order per turn and it must have an equal to or lower Grade than your vanguard, so "Result of Experiment Hencefort" is a very important card to get to 3 SET Orders in turn 3 since it is a G1 SET Research Order. There is also a G3 SET Research Order card which allows you to look at the top 5 cards and call a card among those, which synergizes with a G2 Obscudeid that gains +5k at 3 SET Research Orders, and attacks the whole Opponent Front-Row if called by an effect. For G4 Bruce: There is a G1 that allows you to get to G4 Bruce at turn 3, if your opponent is at G3. There is a G2 that when you attack a G3 or greater, allows you to add a Dark States card to soul and gains +5k for the battle depending on the Grade of the card added and its not once per turn. There is a G3 Order that Soul Charges, and during "Final Rush" activates effects at 6+, 8+ and 12+ Soul. There is another G1 that Soul Charges for free when called, and gains +5k for each card that is specifically "Soul Charged". (This card can gain at least +25k at the Final Rush turn if you use the G3 Order after. [You can also play multiple at a turn to Soul Charge another card and both gains +5k. {I have to clarify that they only gain +5k if they are already on the field before you Soul Charge.}]) For Gandeeva: There is an Order that for the turn, gives your Vanguard the ability that you draw a card when an Opponent's Rear-Guard is Retired during the Main Phase. (Might I say is a powerful combo since the deck's downside is that, you have to call to frequently retire, taking up a lot of cards) For Rezael: There is a G2 that gains +10k when called by a Vanguard's effect, and at the end of it's attack, (If your Vanguard is Rezael) uses another cost and adds itself to soul to draw, and look at the top card of the deck, then you can choose to place the card you looked at to the top or bottom of your deck. I have nothing for Mythiarq and Siana unfortunately, sorry.
Yeah dawg! I was actually thinking how cool it would be to have a Vanguard episode (been on a huge kick latley). Just wanna say if anyone wants to try this game it's generous as hell. Cheap, good gameplay, has a community of websites and RUclipsrs, the official channel offers free anime, and yes, the game is just as cultured as these lovely ladies would lead you to believe ;) Some people say Yu-Gi-Oh is high octane. Sure some metas can be kinda crack head, but Vanguard is the true game that is nothing but gas. This deck forces you to use your field, hand, deck, discard pile, and even damage zone all at once and it is such a rush that only gets more and more intense. Some of the starter decks are only $5 so please give it a try. You can learn while watching any of the free anime, all of which have different continuities to make them easy to jump into. The nations are also used the best I've ever seen out of any games clans, colors, attributes, or whatever.
Finally a game I know nothing about. Don't know what any of these keywords mean or even how the game works at all. So it's hard for me to evaluate anything, but it's interesting
I honestly disagree with siana. It's more of a 3 or more guard restrict they tend to just pg so you get all the drives. Its especially good when someone doesnt really know how the deck works. Obviously im not arguing its a tier 1 deck but its absolutely not worse than bruce lmao
Picks Mythiarq for the bad archetype... BRUUUUHH. Funny enough one of the most broken cards in the entire Green nation is a Mythiarq card, which happens to be a generic Spell that any Green deck can use without any Myhtiarq restriction.
6. Bruce: There're 2 major problems about Bruce
- Bruce just the new form but he plays differently from other older Bruce.
- This Bruce + the older G3 Bruce give you final rush at the start of ride phase. So, at the first G3 ride turn, you won't get final rush until the next turn and many support requires final rush.
The deck is too slow for this current meta.
Funny enough Bruce just got a new card that does a ton to improve it.... the Viamance version not the Unrivaled so yeah
YEAAAAA
VANGUARD STUFF
55:00 Tbf, I think right now Eva is the best deck of the bunch, since it got the new support.
I would rank them:
Eva
Rezael
Gandeeva
Bruce
Mythiarq
Siana
Vanguard is objectively a better card game than Yugioh or Magic but it doesn't have the legacy and nostalgia.
The game that had to reboot not once but twice due to bad powercreep? Lets not lie here
@@RinaShinomiyaVal How to tell someone has never actually played CFV starting with them calling it "reboot".
Triggers and other luck based mechanics take away from the skill aspect a bit, but gives the game a certain amount of suspense that I'm sure any Tearlaments or Adamancipator gamer can relate to (Screw overtriggers though)
That being said, it feels too streamlined, almost fake in a way that's a bit hard to explain. It feels like it was created in a lab, and that turns me away somewhat.
@@elin111 doesnt change the fact VG had clear as day rough patches thats obvious even to YGO players
Thanks!
They definitely need Twin Drive for those twins.
100%
Never in my right mind did I ever expect Cardfight Vanguard being showcased here but I am very happy. Good video
Thanks!
Yo I was just getting back into this game so this'll be educational for me as well!
first thing i would ask is "how much powercreep did the game get?". i think of how much faster and powerful yugioh got since vanguard's first episodes of anime and i think "these cards you started with arent all that much more powerful than what was in first anime". i mean they are better but like they are either not very good or the game didnt get powercrept much. also i didnt know the game had sexy men too. i only knew about the boba cards lol
Well James if you like kiling stuff you will love the 'Eugene' deck
Next time, can you try to show a small game of vanguard to at least show how Vanguard is played, at least only up to the end of the turn 4 of one player to at least grasp how the game is played. Easiest way to grasp Vanguard is to play with no effects except G0 and G3 VG I supposed.
Here's also more info about the archetypes.
For Eva:
You can only play 1 order per turn and it must have an equal to or lower Grade than your vanguard, so "Result of Experiment Hencefort" is a very important card to get to 3 SET Orders in turn 3 since it is a G1 SET Research Order.
There is also a G3 SET Research Order card which allows you to look at the top 5 cards and call a card among those, which synergizes with a G2 Obscudeid that gains +5k at 3 SET Research Orders, and attacks the whole Opponent Front-Row if called by an effect.
For G4 Bruce:
There is a G1 that allows you to get to G4 Bruce at turn 3, if your opponent is at G3.
{I have to clarify that they only gain +5k if they are already on the field before you Soul Charge.}])
For Gandeeva:
There is an Order that for the turn, gives your Vanguard the ability that you draw a card when an Opponent's Rear-Guard is Retired during the Main Phase. (Might I say is a powerful combo since the deck's downside is that, you have to call to frequently retire, taking up a lot of cards)
For Rezael:
There is a G2 that gains +10k when called by a Vanguard's effect, and at the end of it's attack, (If your Vanguard is Rezael) uses another cost and adds itself to soul to draw, and look at the top card of the deck, then you can choose to place the card you looked at to the top or bottom of your deck.
I have nothing for Mythiarq and Siana unfortunately, sorry.
Yeah dawg! I was actually thinking how cool it would be to have a Vanguard episode (been on a huge kick latley).
Just wanna say if anyone wants to try this game it's generous as hell. Cheap, good gameplay, has a community of websites and RUclipsrs, the official channel offers free anime, and yes, the game is just as cultured as these lovely ladies would lead you to believe ;)
Some people say Yu-Gi-Oh is high octane.
LETS GOOOOO VANGUARD VIDEO!
I need more of this!!!
Okay so when do you play vanguard?
Pretty sure you start with it
YES, I waited a long time for vanguard to be covered
I just have one question. Why does no one do this format with pokemon.
I wish but I haven’t been able to get someone on the channel yet
The true Keter good boy is Wingal
An og spotted
Finally a game I know nothing about. Don't know what any of these keywords mean or even how the game works at all. So it's hard for me to evaluate anything, but it's interesting
Glad you found it interesting
Wooo lets go Cardfight! Vanguard 😜
yeah more vang vids would be great fs
Just recorded another one yesterday!
Vanguard video lessgoooo!
Anyway, when's the next Vanguard Upload?
Coming relatively soon, I just got back from my honeymoon and I’m in the process of moving!
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CFV CONTENT
this is a fun video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
I honestly disagree with siana. It's more of a 3 or more guard restrict they tend to just pg so you get all the drives. Its especially good when someone doesnt really know how the deck works. Obviously im not arguing its a tier 1 deck but its absolutely not worse than bruce lmao
I don't mind hour long videos. Sure there's a sweet spot at around 30 minutes, but for me personally, I'd watch this crap for hours.
Appreciate you!
Picks Mythiarq for the bad archetype...
BRUUUUHH.
Funny enough one of the most broken cards in the entire Green nation is a Mythiarq card, which happens to be a generic Spell that any Green deck can use without any Myhtiarq restriction. Really should've showed him that card for the curve ball of the century
Ikr, Zorga would have been a nicer inclusion, or heck, Lianorn with the UnisonDress
@@ronelm2000 They can't pick all 10/10 decks there needs to be some jank inbetween
Conclusion : if loli strong
Yes
Dude play Buddyfight is awesome 👍
really don't like the card design, too much to look at
It is a lot
Pendulums. I think thats all i need to say. If you are of the MTG persuasion Mutate.
@@Hurricayne92 pendulums are a crime against humanity
At least the skills are separated so its easier to read than Yugioh cards...
