I know most people hate this storyline, but as the mother of teenaged boys, it's given me a lot of to think about. When you're drunk, it is hard to make good decisions about anything, which means even your ability to think through whether someone has consented - or is still consenting - is compromised. I'd advise my boys (or anyone, honestly) to treat sex like driving: If you're not sober enough to drive, you're not sober enough to consent or accept consent to sex.
This is what I've been thinking since the start of the storyline. Amy and Summer etc have spoken as though Aaron is a dangerous predator. She and Aaron were both very very drunk and, he potentially misjudged the situation and made a mistake. Stuff like this happens a lot and young people need to learn from it. What I found a bit odd with how this was written was that the implication was that Aaron knew what he was doing cause he was not unconscious. However, when detailing Aaron taking her top off Amy was implying that even that wasn't consensual, despite the fact that she was not unconscious at that point and clearly appeared to be consenting. Based on this, I would honestly give the same advice to my teenage nieces. Don't have sex when you're drunk and give someone the opportunity to misjudge the situation.
@@davidosilverman900 its all of our responsibilities to take steps to be careful no matter what we're doing and these steps can prevent this stuff from happening in the first place which is what we all want isn't it?
The amount of men in the comments who are saying this wasn't rape is fucking worrying. if you think having sex with someone who was passed out and unconscious is not rape, maybe you need to rethink. Even if he was drunk, she was unconscious and, therefore could not consent at that point. You do realise that if your having sex and half way through your partner says stop, if you don't, that's rape. Even if they consented at the beginning, if they change their mind and take away the consent half way through that's still rape if you carry on. Amy may have consented at the beginning when they kissed, (consented to kiss) but the moment she was unconscious she did not have the ability to consent anymore, and therefore it is rape.
Specifically the people commenting and saying this wasn’t rape should look at the section of the rape crisis website about what is and isn’t consent. Any like-minded person would know that you don’t have the freedom to consent if you’re unconscious or drunk
I don't understand why there are comments saying that Aaron is such an innocent man, that Amy needs to stay quiet, or that Summer should butt out. If Amy and I got drunk to the point where she would pass out from drinking so much, I would lie her down either on the bed or on the couch, checked every few minutes if she was alright and still breathing, and called an ambulance if she wasn't.
That last scene was more of Amy acting like her mom who is not credible at all. Tracy is a really messed up person and she's done a good job of messing up her daughter. Acting like it wasn't consensual even from the moment he took her top off...🙄🙄🙄 god help the next one.
This is a sideways storyline. Apparently a drunk girl can jump all over a man and …
If a woman says stop right before penetration and the man does not stop, that is rape. Men have so much trouble taking responsibility fir their actions. Men commit 10 times the amount of crime that woman do. Men are the problem.
@@wendywill7519 I didnt hear Amy say stop
@@wendywill7519 you sound like a Bit of an Incel men don't owe you anything and you are not a victim in every situation.
@@the-toecutterShe was passed out, she couldn’t say anything. The second she passed out he should have stopped.
Arron is not that bad amy
whoever wrote this dribble needs to seriously think about a new job. its ridiculous as both were siriously drunk and she didnt say no , so rape is out of the question.
She was passed out, she couldn’t say no. She was raped, end of story.
Theres no prove of Aaron raping Amy
But we saw that he did.
You know I hate that they did this to Aaron he was such a good character I just feel like they did that all wrong like this never should have did that I liked his character and I don't think his character would do that that's so out of character for him
Imran 2.0. Respectable character gets done dirty by the writers once again!
I would really just like to see Amy be the one to leave the show instead of Aaron. Maybe she can end herself... Now that would be a worthy storyline with a great exit ending. The one word no one has used to describe Amy is PATHETIC because that's how she comes across. She's a real boo hoo er. All she does is whine. She's never truly happy. I think now, Amy is worse than Summer and Summer was unbearable.
You say all Amy does is moan ect if you were raped and than made out to be a lier by the person who attacked you you would be same Aaron is a coward and sick Amy is a lovley person and she trusted her friend and he raped her she has every reason to be upset ect
@@KayRachael-tl8kt You got that all wrong luv. Amy is equally in the wrong. No one raped anyone. They were both drunken pigs and before that, you have to go back to the beginning of the night when everyone was together drinking. Didn't you watch that part of the episode? I know I did.
@@KayRachael-tl8kt as someone who was r@ped and was made out to be a liar by the suspect, and who has met many many many many other women that the same has happened to, I can guarantee you that Amy's behaviour is not the norm. I've also never met another r@pe victim who has put up a post NAMING the suspect after NFA has been taken. Amy was actually treated very well by the police, I was called a liar in the outcome report for my case and a proper investigation wasn't completed as the word of the suspect was taken against mine purely based on my upbringing. I also had no family to support me like she did.
Lots of women go through far worse than her and do not let it define their personalities, even at the start. The law isn't perfect and you can't always win. The evidence threshold is there for a reason.
@@mariat.fromnepausa.1646 The way she says "knickers are off" just makes me feel sick, as she's doing it to make him feel like a pervert. He misjudged the situation cause of all the alcohol. Half of her family are criminals and her mum did something similar to Roy back when Amy was conceived.
Or maybe she’s traumatised. Sexual assault is traumatic, and can take years to deal with. No one ever truly recovers from it.
Wait where’s he going? Aaron’s innocent.
It's best the kid just gets away from these backwater hillbillys Sweet prince Aaron is too good for Weatherfield

Amy the drunk tease.
Your sick to even say that they both were drunk he kissed her he pulled her top off and she rolled over away from him and he knowing she was asleep carried on kissing her and raped her
This storyline has been bad for rape victims. Why run a storyline about false rale accusations? Poor Aaron, ruined his life has that. Unless the intention was to show how blokes get falsely accused, then bravo, but still could have been done better
It’s not “false” allegations you can’t consent consent when you aren’t unconscious it’s not hard
It’s not false
Unfortunately men get accused of this sort of thing all the time. Hopefully Aaron can move on and put this trauma behind him
@@the-toecutter except he’s not the victim…and he’s just realised what he has done
@@samparrish4870 maybe he did it maybe he didn't. We dont know do we?
Those saying Aaron is innocent, is it because it's true like he didn't do anything or as in Amy wanted it to happened but she passed out before.
I think people claiming he’s innocent believe he’s was drunk enough to the point where he genuinely couldn’t tell she was passed out. Which is how I interpreted the scene until he stated doing weird shit after.
He isn’t innocent anyway. Amy was unconscious.
@@ChristineLampardFan1 has he confessed no. Has he been convicted by a jury of his peers no. So he is innocent. Aaron is innocent
@@ChristineLampardFan1 ok but I want the point of vient of people saying he is innocent. Thank you anuway.
@@the-toecutter No he not. In a real wide situation (which the story line was proving) not court in the land would be able to convict, as both partys were intoxicated, so evidence would not reliable. the story line was proving the guilt that Aaron has and is feeling, not that Amy was not reacting to him, he admitted he took her underwear off, that in it self proves guilt, then carried on while Amy is still passed out, that is the act of rape right there, as not consent or reaction given. What ever way you look at it Aaron sexually assulted and raped Amy. For once a well written and acted story line by some brilliant young actors. The character of Aaron will have to live that guilt all of his life.
So Amy is going to completely deny she was throwing herself at Aaron
Only a man would say that. Having sex with an unconscious person is rape. Duh.

It wasn’t rape, they’ve ruined a perfectly good character with Aaron just to be PC
Yes it was! The amount of people that are defending Aaron is absolutely staggering and I'm absolutely fed up with it.
So you have sex with people who are asleep?
She was unconscious and he wasn't violent or aggressive. She was drunk
It doesn’t if you can’t realise someone passed out and not moving how the hell can be up for sex.
Yeah he is in the wrong but why do we have yet another storyline were a man does something to a woman yet again
I think it’s pretty balanced out. We had the Kirsty and Tyrone storyline. The Maria and Tyrone storyline, the Jenny and Kevin storyline …. Wasn’t there something with Adam’s crazy ex?? I don’t watch Corrie regularly but it’s not all one sided
They could do a female on male rape storyline, but it would probably take a long time to figure out how to cover it in the “right” way . When something is unprecedented in a soap, it’s more disturbing than something we‘be been taught to think of as more common.
I think if this has been a false accusation storyline it would have done a lot. There is still time, I suppose.
I don’t think this storyline was meant to demonise a gender. It was more about the blurred lines of clear consent. I think that’s what it was trying to highlight
@msmilano7091 yeah that all happened but ever since 2020 it's all been one sided except for the Adam and his crazy ex
