I've been playing this song for years but I like the way you do it a little different with some of those riffs. I thoroughly enjoy all of your Doobie lessons.
Another great Doobie song ! Thanks a million ! 5a.m. , just happened to grab the phone and check Utube out and bam ! there you were !! Love it. PEACE from Philadelphia. Think I'll throw on a pot of coffee and warm up my tubes !!! Come 7a.m., I'm on it. Love the chords the Doobies use and the way you teach them. Think I saw your band do a few Doobie Brothers tunes. You cats are bad ass !!!
Thanks, tonedr, for showing the nooks and crannies in this one. Without meaning to, I’ve learned almost the entire Best of the Doobies album. Your videos have been a crucial element in doing so.
Thanks, tonedr! This has always been one of my favorite Dobbie songs since it was first released in what I think was 72. It gives me a kick in the pedal whenever I listen to it, and now I can play along and rock down the highway with them thanks to your video instructions. Well done!
Gosh I love this!!! I’m trying to get this one added to our list of cover songs. I’m the drummer / backup vocalist. I sent this video to our guitarist. He said “absolutely,, good pick,,, never thought of that one”. It’s added to our rehearsal. Great video!!!! THANKS for adding “gas to the fire tonedr”!!
Thanks again ToneDr. Like the Tone & guitar. I saw the Doobies open for Journey in summer of 2016 in Toronto. They had a great response from the crowd. They still have the MOJO!
Hey Dale, Great job. We must be around the same age because when I want to learn a favorite tune from the 70's it seems that you have it covered. I remember dancing to this one at my junior prom.
+Muzz Litebeer thanks so much for checking this out & i greatly appreciate the kind post! Guitar into Xotic RC Booster - Fulldrive 2 - TRex delay - Headstrong Lil King 1x12 amp. Low volume - these days i run bass/treble almost wide open but on this most likely dialed back a bit - keep rockin, dale.
Hmm... Bummer. I was hoping it was just your amp settings. I've got an Orange Rockerverb 50 and try not to use many pedals. (TS clone, comp, delay, flanger and clean boost is about it) Thanks for your prompt reply.
Really enjoy your lessons Dale. I am having trouble with first A chord. Are you only playing only three strings. I seem to be hitting the high E and it doesnt sound right. Are you muting a little on that chord? Also a little confused after the first run in A. The next chord looks like a B7th to me, but you said a A over D. Not sure why Im learning this, Doobies are hard to sing. Thanks again.
the first A chord is the A string and your right no high E, so ADGB strings only. It would be better if i'd called it a D/A...D with an A bass, kind of like the All Right Now chord, no B7s on this one. If this doesn't help we'll share info and get it right - i bet you sing it great! your friend, dale.
Dale, Are those Mini's in your Collings? Powerful sounding & not muddy at all ! I know you're a Doobie's fan. Been one myself from day one. Another exclnt DB lesson...thx!
hey! they are mini's - only guitar i've ever had with them and i like them more than i expected really. I love the DB - Pat Simmons is one of my all time fave players! hope all is good, your friend, dale.
