Manufacturing an Airbus A350: • Giant Aircraft: Manufa...
The Antonov An 225 Myra was the world's largest plane, and only one example was ever built. Exclusively filmed in the Antonov factory in Kiev, this documentary tells the story of the development of the aircraft on the basis of the worlds second largest plane, the An 125. The Myra was built to carry Russia's version of the Space shuttle - the Buran. All this of course before the break-up of the Soviet Union.
The program features exciting walk-around footage of the Mrya and interviews with the engineers who built it. We take the viewer back to the days when carrying military equipment far and fast was the key to success in a potential third world war. That conflict never happened but since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the rise of an independent Ukraine, the Antonov desiogn bureau and factory, and Antonov Airlines company have provided some of the most impressive transport over the last decade, contracted by governments to move emergency relief supplies, military equipment and industrial parts.

Unfortunately, friends, this plane is already history, you are too late with the video. Ukrainian defense industry concern Ukroboronprom reported that as of the morning of February 24, 2022, the aircraft was under repair and maintenance work at the Antonov Company site in Gostomel, one of the engines was removed for repairs, and the aircraft could not fly out on that particular day, although the appropriate commands were given in conditions of an armed conflict with the Russian Federation. As a result, the aircraft, which was in a hangar at Gostomel airport, was destroyed during the fighting for Antonov airport. We don't have the Mriya anymore.
😭🇺🇦
Chill out folks! I'm pretty sure the Chinese have been in a mad dash scooping up talents like there's no tomorrow during the massive exodus caused by the commedian. Don't be flabbergasted if CN-225 showed up in a hood near you ...
We really hope that the war will end so soon
May our Gaya be all wreathed in peace!

They say they will rebuild it. Time estimate: 5-10 years. That's when, and if the war stops.
I took our son and a nephew to see it at Rickenbacker AFB. Definitely an incredible aircraft.

A second unfinished An 225 is in storage, thus never say never. The "Dream" could surely live on...
I just read that they have plans to repair the extremely damaged plane
@@joelpriestley24 Who's "they"? Both planes are in Russian hands!
@@Desire123ification Antonov corporation. If the damaged aircraft or the unfinished airframe ever get recovered of course.
The technology is quite ancient. This video mentions how it is not environmentally friendly (not that this is too important for a one off like this). It might be more feasible for Boeing or Airbus to modify the B747 or A380 somehow as a mega carrier, or design a completely new aircraft for the task.
The problem is that there is probably not a market for a fleet of them. To produce only one, or even a very small fleet, exponentially increases the design cost per aircraft.
Maybe Antonov can combine the damaged plane and the second unfinished one and get the An-225 back in the air.

Peace and best of luck for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. ♥️
el avión era soviético, no ucraniano
@marioperez-tg7tx The plane was built in last year's of the Soviet Union, and the two engineers involved were Petro Balabuyev (lead design engineer, Ukranian) and Viktor Tolmachev (lead design engineer, Russian) under the umbrella of the Aeronautical Scientific Complex named after Oleg Antonov - Ukranian Aerospace Engineer (Antonov Co.) Founded in 1952 in Russia, but handed over to the Ukranian Defense Industry - Ukroboronprom in 2015. Based in Kyiv - Ukraine, Antonov is a proud Ukranian company with its headquarters based in Hostomel Airport - Kyiv (testing facility and cargo airport). An-225 displayed the Ukranian flag (Yellow and Blue stripes) for a reason.
