I'm extremely new to coin collecting and picky got into it because a customer of mine gave me close to $600 in rolled pennies and a jar of wheat cents. I've never been into coins but since some of these haven't been in circulation in over 30 years, I felt I owed it to myself and the community to go through them. I'm still working on it and thinking it'll take me a few months to go through them but I've already found a 1942 s printed on a Mexican Centavo. It's in very good condition and is a great motivating factor in continuing my hunt. :)

About 4 years ago I decided, on a lark, to try coin roll hunting a box of nickels from my local bank. It was the first and only time I ever did this with a box of nickels. I ended up finding a 1998-P Jefferson with a 145-degree die rotation!
I could not friggin’ believe it. 🤗
I’ve been checking my change and collecting coins for almost 50 years and have never previously found a major die rotation so I was pretty excited. Sadly, the coin looked like it has spent some time at the bottom of a “make a wish” fountain, because it has a funky off-gray color.
Anyway, I sent it off to ANACS to certify the die rotation and it graded out XF-45 “Cleaned” but I honestly think it was just environmental damage from water immersion because I’ve fished copper-nickel coins out of fountains before and this is how they look - dull and lifeless gray. Also, this is a extremely common date and there is no reason why anyone would have deliberately cleaned this common modern circulating coin.
So, anyway, it is still a very cool coin to flip in your hand and see such a DRAMATIC major die rotation. I have no idea what it would fetch on eBay and sometimes I’m tempted to list it, but it was such a cool find that I have hung on to it because it’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever pulled from circulation / coin roll hunting.

Talking about the cud error on cents and showing the cud and the weakened area on the other side helped me figure out which way to turn penney to get it to turn the way I wanted to find date.

Please explain to me how the FG initials get "abraided" off of the reverse of the Kennedy half when the FG initials are typically raised which means the initials that are on the actual die would already be recessed meaning if it was scrubbed out then there would be a big lump there. In my mind the only way this happens is a grease error. To be fair you aren't the 1st person I've here say they basically scrubbed the initials away.

62,62,63,58,61,63,62,64 the last one 1925 has a strike issue on the head side almost top right.

Hi Scott from Tennessee I've had a 1909 for several years but today I started looking at it good and the reverse of it is crazy it has the letter of the O is so much Cooper it touches the N in United the t is missing in United the S in states is so big and has a clog of Cooper in the top of the S of is crazy it has the biggest doubling ive ever seen we're should I send it to are is it worth missing with I promise there's not another one like it and it's in good condition

Shaun, why is that (17:10) a die crack and not a cud, pls? I fail to see any crack, but it does appear as raised metal. And looks like something I see everyday. Whether, I find it on the Mint mark, or any of the smaller fint lettering. Thanks
I haven't watched the video yet, I just started it but I was reading through the comments and saw yours and thought I'd offer my very limited knowledge in case it helped. I haven't seen the video yet but I wanted to share this just in case. I was confused too as to what classifies a cud vs a die chip and I finally understood that cud:s are in the rim only. So if it's on the rim it's a cud if it's not on the rim it's a chip. I hope I helped, lol if not I hope I at least didn't waste your time 😀

in RUclips somehow coin prices is so exagerated that I think it is inflated to have an audience reading it for money earned in thumbs up or subscription. However not all is doing it though.

That looks like a mint error rake damage that's my guess but they did look like impressions under the keys remember what a rake can do it can break the edge off. The rakes would almost have to be indestructable billions of attempts will be made to remove coins from the anvil that in itself is hard to believe

Shaun, have you thought abt. or already experimented with having some type of intrusive, small pointer device to highlight what area you are speaking abt. When describing a coin or pointing out a flaw/ error. Sometimes, you lose me, or I can't see what you are referencing. Not often but, I would find it alot easier to follow along. You know. For us, "slow" folk. 😁

I don't understand how some of these coins are going for as much as they are and I have a bunch that look like a bunch of the coins on these videos and a bunch of other videos I have a bunch with doubling but on a bunch of other videos some of these coins wouldn't be worth anything and then I see videos with coins that look like mine and they get sold off for a bunch of money so part of me is confused LOL so if I started showing a bunch of my stuff that would mean I would be a little wealthy right now
