I was getting excited all by myself just as Pastor Ivor Myers says I will get excited all by myself if I have to, because I know what I have heard is Truth and it pleases m to know that there are some Pastors out here in this earth who will speak only what is Truth. Interesting verses. I am no theologian so don’t take my word for it. I’m not trying to cause confusion. But when I think spirit, I think mind or consciousness. Not sure if the Bible characters used it interchangeably. Often times they say the spirit is willing, or the spirit knows, in those words I feel it can be used as a more spiritual word for mind. But hey Praise the Lord for Him being our Creator and Sustainer! God bless!

    Philippians 1:21-24
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.”

Are you teaching extinction and re-creation, if so do not use Biblical words like "sleep", re-creation is not resurrection.
Did Jesus cease to exist when He died on the cross, and was Jesus re-created on Sunday morning ?

It is not our 'the the SDA' doctine...but its God's docrine though the Bible and practiced, believed, and thought by the Adventists.

An interesting analysis of an important issue. But how do you reconcile these teachings with the account of the transfiguration of Jesus in Luke 9:29 -31
which seems to indicate that Moses and Elijah - two deceased figures- were actually in Jesus's presence and conversing with him, and were not merely present as symbols of the law and the prophets?. The relevant verses state ""As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem". (NIV) Furthermore, why does 1 Thess 4: 14 refer to the Second Coming as involving Jesus bringing those who have fallen asleep in him if they remained in the grave at death? The verse states, " For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him". It seems these passages were not addressed in this presentation.

Jesus plainly told those three disciples who witnessed this event, "Tell the VISION to no man."
In Acts we read that Paul had a VISION of a man beckoning him to come to Macedonia. Must understand the meaning of a VISION.
The parable of the Rich man and Lazarus was directed at the Pharisees and has NOTHING to do with the so-called afterlife. It was a stinging rebuke of the covetousness of the religious leaders.

      Hello friend,
Even though a believer sleeps in death until the resurrection the next conscious thought they have is the resurrection and being present with the Lord. There is no immortal soul.
Keep in mind Paul also wrote the following…
1 Corinthians 15:51-54 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed- 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
      1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
(It’s clear that the believer isn’t given immortality until “the last trumpet” at the resurrection.)

Can someone help explain to me this 3abn
The souls of both believers and unbelievers are conscious between death and the resurrection. Unbelievers are in conscious woe (see Luke 16:23; Mark 9:48; Matt. 25:41) and believers are in conscious bliss. “Sleep” is a reference to the body, not the soul. Sleep is an appropriate figure of speech for death of the body, since death is temporary until the resurrection when the body will “awake” from it.
The evidence that the soul (spirit) is conscious between death and resurrection is very strong:
    1. Enoch was taken to be with God (Gen. 5:24; Heb. 11:5).
    2. David spoke of bliss in God’s presence after death (Ps. 16:10-11).
    3. Elijah was taken up into heaven (2 Kings 2:1).
    4. Moses and Elijah were conscious on the Mount of Transfiguration (Matt. 17:3) long after their time on earth.
    5. Jesus said He went to the Father the day He died (Luke 23:46).
    6. Jesus promised the repentant thief that he would be with Him in paradise the very day he died (Luke 23:43).
    7. Paul said it was far better to die and be with Christ (Phil. 1:23).
    8. Paul affirmed that when we are “absent from the body” then “we are present with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8).
    9. The writer of Hebrews refers to heaven as a place where “the spirits of just men [are] made perfect” (Heb. 12:23).
    10. The “souls” of those martyred during the tribulation were conscious in heaven, singing and praying to God (Rev. 6:9).

      Hello friend,
      Some Scriptures to consider…
Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
Body + Breath of life = living being
Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”
The body returns to the dust, there is no immortal soul.
Even though a believer sleeps in death until the resurrection the next conscious thought they have is the resurrection and being present with the Lord.
Paul makes it abundantly clear, we are mortal. Immortality is a gift from God.

Delusional and the scripture is take arbitrary to explain what you want according to your denomination.
Pastor with all respect, you are speaking nonsense. What about Lazarus in Luke 16 who was taken into a place where he was very conscious of everything. What about apostle Paul in
Philippines 1:21-24 or 2 Co 5:6-8 where it's very clear that absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Why don't you take into consideration these scriptures? Do you think that when Paul wrote them he was oblivious of the Old Testament scriptures talking New Testament nonsense? Think a little about this. But if your denomination requires this nonsense then go with it and be happy. I don't take it because it's a thin and weak explanation. Sorry. And one thing more, Jesus Christ talking said that God is the God of the living and not of the dead in Matthew 22:32. Please stop the nonsense.

      The Rich Man and Lazarus
      Some Bible points to consider…
      • Abraham’s bosom is not heaven (Hebrews 11:8-10, 16).
      • People in hell can’t talk to those in heaven (Isaiah 65:17).
      • The dead are in their graves (Job 17:13; John 5:28, 29). The rich man was in bodily form, with eyes, a tongue, etc., yet we know that the body does not go to hell immediately at death. The body remains in the grave, as the Bible says. If you’d like to know more about what happens after death, visit www.truthaboutdeath.com/
      • People are rewarded at Christ’s second coming, not at death (Revelation 22:12).
      • The lost are punished in hell at the end of the world, not when they die (Matthew 13:40-42). Luke 16:31, the last verse of the story, contains a spiritual lesson, showing that the story is actually a parable. Parables cannot be taken literally. If we took parables literally, then we must believe that trees talk! (See this parable in Judges 9:8-15).
