Meredith Foster what do you take medication for? sorry to be nosy my mom wants me to go on anti depressants and I am interested in knowing if you take it how does it work for you
I've taken anti depressants for years and they do work. It may take some time to figure out the right medicine for you since one does not work for all (but there are tons so don't worry). The most important part of taking this medicine is to not be embarrassed or ashamed; you deserve to be happy and for some people it is a bit harder!
lilly121127 Don't go on something because your mother recommends it. Go get an appointment with your GP and have her assess you. Try seeing a councillor before meds.
I've found that antidepressants work but gradually, so if you do go on them don't expect to suddenly be happy. Usually it's a gradual lessening of the suck. But ^ is right go to your doctor and see what they say. Everyone reacts differently to different medicines and they would be the best at assessing that. Also seeing a psychiatrist would be good because they can talk to you on a regular basis help you through things AND be the one prescribing anti depressants for you. Good luck!

I took them (for OCD and anxiety) and they didn't really help, in fact one of them (zoloft) made my depression worse, but it's different for everyone
