    Hi Tom, just wanted to thank you for your videos. You’re the only ESC youtuber my wife and myself watch because you’re always honest in your opinion and we notice you actually put a lot of effort in your videos.
    Keep on doing what you’re doing ! ❤️

    Lolita Zero is making changes to the song and choreography for the final, it looks so good, I have seen only the snippets of the revamp, but there’s definitely a change.

    You killed me with "I can see this being big in an "specific" German club!" lol!! the look of lolita zero almost reminded me of vitas fifth element but with a very deep voice, probably just all the silver. It's my favorite but I'm not sure if it is for the good reasons!

    Fyi Gebrasy's song from last year, "Where'd You Wanna Go", was my favorite of the whole ESC season last year and worth checking out.

    For changes that I remember: Ieva ditched the piano in the semifinal (you watched her heat performance), Auguste didn't have her band with her for the heat, and Queens of Roses had male backing dancers that came in part-way through the song in their heat (which is part of why their choreography seemed so simple in the dance break - when they first wrote it they were interacting with other people)

  • @tomxofnfifjfn
    @tomxofnfifjfn 2 года назад +12

    monika liu will almost definitely win, she’s a household name in lithuania, potentially their biggest domestic artist (according to lithuanian friend)
    ruta loop my fave i do wish the elements in the final chorus came in the second verse/chorus and then the final chorus was bigger as i could see that doing amazingly

      Monika Liu, rather unfortunately, is not a very big singer in Lithuania. Maybe this could help her in that regard, depends on how she does in Italy ;) In fact, this final has no really household, productive local pop names in it (therefore Monika's the biggest star here), which is more or less the norm. Erica Jennings was, arguably, the biggest star (although a fading one) this year, but she had a crap song and crashed out in the semis. ESC selections are usually like that. Even The Roop were barely listened to before the 2020. Now they are sweeping local awards and despite that their latest video Ohmygodable has about half the views of what a Lithuanian language pop piece by Saulius Prūsaitis and Iglė, released about same time, has. And that's just an example.
      Anyways, Monika's style is not mainstream, but rather this retro, maybe somewhat jazzy stuff, typically of her own composition (see her YT channel). IMHO, she came to fame more as a female voice on a couple of superhits by the local band Sel. On the other hand, she's very outgoing and has become a big TV face (judge on the local The Voice, Masked Singer, that kind of stuff), which guarantees her both public votes, and jurry support.
      Edit: speaking of Rūta Loop, she is, also rather unfortunately, extremely little known as a singer in Lithuania and her biggest achievement to date was doing well in ESC sellection two years ago. Augustė Vedrickaitė had a chance to make it big 15 or so years ago, when she did very well in one of the first Lithuanian singing TV shows, released a popular album, and got a very good song for the 2007 ESC selection. But for some reason she drifted away from all that and was barely visible for many years.

    • @VaMage
      @VaMage 2 года назад +4

      No, she is definitely not that popular, there are tons of artists more known than her. Most of lithuanians including myself didn't even know who she is until the very end of 2019 when she released her most popular song so far. But she is one of the more unique and charismatic artists for sure.

    Full credit to Lithuania here
    They really are trying hard in the last couple of years. Money and effort are being put into their national selection and they must be applauded for that.
    Unfortunately, i don't really care for any of these songs. As Jendrik would say " I'm sorry".
    Can we not just have The Roop every year until something better comes along. I, for one, would be very happy with that scenario!

    I wasn’t initially thrilled by Lolita’s song, but the idea of this at Eurovision and people on the conservative side getting triggered and angry over it is absolutely hilarious to me 😂
    She does need a revamp though and hopefully some choreography as well. Perhaps they could remove the diamond curtains from her horns at some point to allow her to move or something like that (if she keeps this aesthetic).

    Really love this final, think its defo underrated by the community. I love Rūta Loop and Lolita Zero, I do think Monika Liu is looking the heavy favourite (24pts in the semi final), I like it but I can see it very easily getting overlooked at Eurovision. Ruta only getting 8 jury points and 7 televote votes in the semi makes it seem unlikely she will win, which is sad as I'm addicted to the song on Spotify. Though from memory of previous contests the jury vote seems to change a lot from the semi finals to the finals (I think the ROOP didnt get 12 in the semi but did in the final) so I have hope!

    Lolita's song is not futuristic it's a throwback homage to Kraftwerk's Sex Object from 1986. It could stand an accelerated beat to add dynamism.

    Lolita Zero is easily my favorite. I think what's keeping the Lithuanian judges from putting it through is that the lead singer is very much his own person and says what's on his mind during interviews. I personally find that refreshing, but... we expect Eurovision contestants to play by certain rules.

    • @karinavilkaityte3948
      @karinavilkaityte3948 2 года назад +3

      ope, judges think there isn't much of a song itself and because of his voice jury would put him last in ESC. But Lolita promised amazing vocals in final :D so we'l see

    • @eurovizusayay3591
      @eurovizusayay3591 2 года назад

      @@karinavilkaityte3948 you know, I think there is a difference in judging male and female singers in general. We expect women to have excellent voices. Men don't have that same pressure. The Roop for example had subtle vocals and did very well. None of Lithuania's other songs this year sound like they have what it takes to break out of semi's.
