Fiat Stilo 1 6 ecu repair (most common problem)

- Опубликовано: 2 дек 2024
- this ecu has lost the communication with the throttle
and after further investigation i trace it down to the ecu
and its most common problem.
after the fix i sent it back to the owner and he confirmed that
the car is now running has it should.
thanks for watching.
My wife's car was scrapped almost new after attempts at various authorized assistance. A great shame. For Fiat. Too dangerous, it was a class action lawsuit
wtf you did at 6:36 ? you know, you can damage the PCB by having solder to directly touch the outer layer. Also, you don't need to transfer anything if you change ECU, you just virginize the new one and that's it. But you really say it's not "fixable" if the problem is not the pins? The other failing possibilities is the Motorola BGA CPU at the back of the PCB (reflow or reballing can fix that), sometimes the front Motorola MC33 drivers get bust, sometimes a capacitor can go bust etc. Unless the PCB has PHYSICAL DAMAGE (as you could damage it like in 6:36 or someone digging the PCB to remove a chip) it really is FIXABLE.
Thanks for watching.
Reballing is doable but i never had success for long term with that.
And this ecu is working just fine so far so i guess i didnt damage anything...perhaps the angle of the camera mislead you in how close the solder is from the outer layer, but i know exactly what you are saying and its absolutely correct.
What you see touching the outer layer is actually solidified flux and its not solder.
Thank you for your input, hopefully people can read your comment and be aware of that...thanks again.
@@PSICompanyPerformance yeah thx for clarifying. Maybe you should get some higher quality flux then. If reballing didn't work for you, you can always buy new Motorola 68000 series (don't remember exact part number) and then you can flash it via bench from the old ECU.
@@xynostasos9022 thanks
i have a video on clonning these ecus via obd via Abrites and abrites can also do it on the bench.
thanks for your feedback
@@xynostasos9022 hi. Can you check and repair my iaw5fd?
The Stilo with other engines have the same problem? Tks...
thanks for watching.
yes aslong as it uses the same style of ECU
I have a ecu that is faulty on my 1.6 . I think it is the chip , i bought a used one which is repaired with the key and the code card but whithout the body... Is there any way that i can bring it work? From the tools i've got multi ecu scan , and some vag cables blue with the 1357 pin switch and one vag fiat black for the fiat can tool. 6 colored cables and a bunch of elm327
thanks for watching
i think you will need to get the bcm to direct swap the complete kit ready to start.
i dont think that with those tools you will be able to program the bcm that you have with the new ecu and key...also in fiats to program stuff like that you usuall need the red key.
just get Galletto and clone the flash and eprom from the original to the new one and thats it.
i have a video here on this chanel about that.
propably i have the same problem.. car runs good when the engine is cold.. but when is warm up car stalls with error p1220
Hello do you are Portuguese? You have same acent of Portuguese in English eheh. I need to do this repair too 😅
Good evening my friend, I saw your work with the fiat stylo brain and I have the same problem with its contacts. I would like to ask if you can repair mine too, you mean for a price. Please send me an answer. Thank you in advance.
thanks for watching.
sorry my friend these videos are for information only and not for advertising, that means i dont do this work remotely, only with the car in front of me so that i can test and make sure everything is working properly. this is really easy to do so i guess you can find someone that has the equipment to help you.
good luck.
@@PSICompanyPerformance Thank you very much for your prompt reply, I wish you the best in what you do. Have a good job.
I have Fiat Stilo 1.6 16v
car works, but while driving, 6-7 ECU overheats, and later, the car doesn't start
ECU IAW 5NF.T1 OEN 55181521
is it an ECU problem or something else?
thanks in advance.
Thanks for watching
if it overheats there might be a short somewhere but if you have bad connections as i show in the video it makes the same symptom, i would re solder the ecu first
good luck
@PSICompanyPerformance I will try to add a pc fan, or high rpm server fan because the first day I drove the car, 14 hours was too hot, 38-40'C, second day I drive car 5-6 hours and over heat ECU 🥵 🔥 ☀️ 😀 because I have to stop and wait and there was no wind to cool down the ECU. While I was driving, wind cool down the ECU. After I went home, I cooled down ECU with compressor and engine started to work. At this moment, I don't see reason to repair ECU because it works.
@@lr.1750 the reason is that with temp the solder points they expand and loose contact, have you consider moving the ecu to a cooler place away from the engine? because these cars have this flaw that the ecu is right on top of the engine and things get really hot. I think that actually would solve your problem.
good luck
@PSICompanyPerformance I have replaced ecu behind battery and ecu become hotter than engine. And I have returned back on top of the engine. I don't drive this car anymore, I'm gonna sell. But first, I will add PC fan.
I need immo off data for this ecu
Thanks for watching..
I think that for this ecu you can only put it in virgin state and not remove immo...but i am going to confirm and will get back to you.
the problem is not soldering
Thanks for watching.
About 80 to 85 percent of the time when i get one of these the solder is the problem...thats why i say on the video that is the most common problem and not the only problem.
In fact i have a video on how to clone this ecu to another one in case that is not fixable.
Hi can you please leave a link?
You're soldering each pin or all together?
Thanks for watching..
I am soldering each individual pin...not all of them together.
How can he solder all together?
thank you!!
