Hell no skateboarding isn't dying. Skateboarding is more popular than ever! A skate shop finally opened up in my little town this past spring and they are thriving. In our little town of 500, at least 20-30 kids and teenagers are coming to the shop almost every day! Also, I'm 43, and I will never quit skating! As long as I'm physically capable of riding a skateboard, I will never stop! SKATE OR DIE!!!

Maybe there are some places where it’s growing and other places where it’s dying. The state of California in general is dying and the population is shrinking for the first time in hundreds of years. Here I’m the only one who skates in my town and it’s a decent size town. I never see anyone else skating occasionally there’s a scooter or two.

True, it’s definitely like that here as well. I’ve been playing games of scoot with them on their scooters. It’s appealing to them because riding a scooter is so much easier. I’ve got every grind on a flat bar on their scooters.

scooters are good commuter vehicles. skate boards are not as maneuverable. 2nd the wheels are too small for ruff side walks. now they can have bigger wheels they just not trick type skate boards. for ruff sidewalks I feel you need at least 100mm diameter size wheels. 52mm is more trickster size wheel.

I think that people will always skate, but I suspect that the explosion in popularity that it experienced in the early 2000's may have been a high that it will never reach again. To me, it seems like the boom was a combination of multiple variables that are unlikely to occur once again. Skating seems just a part of the early 00's, and that time is gone.
For though, just the sight of a skatepark of the sound of a ollie brings me back to very happy times.

An excellent video and points with a lot of points and sense. Senselessness is also a key to certain degree of immersion, we don't want skateboarding to ultimately make sense, but we really should show that by doing and immersing ourselves with it, we can keep the flame alive. Or something, thanks, strangely encouraging video, not take something for granted, such as time, to spend it where we really deeply want, more of that. And it can spread from that, whatever "it" is.

You hit a lot of it.
Right now it is hot and humid in the south east. Skating oddly slows down in the summers out here.
I also think that people get caught up on progression. The Pros are so talented that when they don't progress at a high rate they stop skating. Or they take a slalm and stop skating.
A lot of of my friwnds stopped skating recently. They are 20 years younger than me and they are atarting their lives or trying to find themselves. Skateboarding seemed to be the one thing they pushed aside to do that.
Love the Jonah story. Good for you saying what needs tk be said.
Bottom line if we want sakating to keep growing then we have to keep sharing it. We have to keep it acceptable. However, at the end of the day, if we are out there alone skating that is ok too.
We will just be old guys pushing. Well i guess i already am.

It's really hard to say but the skaters that I used to see in the local town seem to have moved or quit or something because I haven't seen them in more than half a year. But even if it becomes unpopular like rollerblading I'll still be doing it, you know. Thanks for the video

I am from Costa Rica and I actually feel like skateboarding practice has risen a little. Not to the level it had ~10 years around here, but definitely more than it was about 3 years ago. I think one factor is social media (skate media easily reaches a lot of people now, as it is definitely a low hanging fruit for the algorithm to give a try getting people's attention, just to mention one of the possible mechanisms that social media has increased skateboarding popularity). Another factor is a greater portion of skaters population here (that boomed ~10 years ago) have now reached young-adult ages and have some source of income (something that you lack when growing up and sucks since skateboarding is expensive) so they can buy more stuff from skate shops. That has 2 effects: They support the skate shops (which are still a few) and they don't wear out their gear completely (as you do when you have no income) so usually they pass the moderately used gear to friends or younger skaters go still go to school and otherwise won't have the chance to afford it.

Tucker IS guided by voices. You should do asmr skate videos with self thinking thoughts. I have never skated when it was popular. I only stopped because no one I knew skated. The Olympics has made me stop liking professional skating. And Nyjah mujahideen Huston. I believe his afro needs more combing. There were nights when I skated alone in the dark for hours, completely in a zone, never interrupted by humans or even cops. It was simply an escape from misery of existence. Now it's become a bunch of nerds who talk about durometer and truck clearance. When I am busting a 540 stalefish, the only person judging me is me.

I'd say it is. Watch RUclips skaters and most skateparks have no one there. My local parks there's no new skaters especially street skaters.
I seen John hills recent video and Sheldon skatepark one of the coolest when it was built which I would go to living in CA, no one is there. My smaller city/town I was in the last gen of skaters. New gen might buy skateboards but they don't skate like my little brother and cousin.
You say covid had more skaters but I don't think so compared to before covid. It made more gamers than skaters and kids are playing games more in general so that's why I think skating is dying.
The only time skateparks are full at my local is when the older skaters (25yrs+ now) skate once or twice a week if not 2 weeks.

Skating won’t die. Maybe everyone got too hurt. I wish it would because parks would be dead. I don’t want them to myself it’s just that I was better when I was younger so I don’t like to look like a noob. I’m only use to skating being dead from the last 30 years since I started. Think it’s dead now try going back to 1987 or 1992! I’m not being that serious, and yeah I’m a bit of a dark person which is only because I come from an era of skateboarding when it was not cool.

I started recently after 13 years and it is interesting how in my area I might be the only skater there. I did see one other guy ride two weeks ago but I never seen him after that. That is only the uptown of my city and even then that is just my area. Downtown and maybe midtown I seen people ride. Not as much but I see people cruise and my friend does see this one guy who gets recorded by someone at his university. There are like five skate shops here if I remember correctly and they seem to be doing well I think some get a range of kids to adults coming in. I do think there is one problem and maybe this applies to all sorts of riding related activities, I can never find a good place to just practice flat ground stuff.
I have a few places for it that are decent but I find myself wanting some place more private without much people around just so I don't get interrupted. Had one guy ask me to teach him to ride but was a bit skeptical since my area isn't that great and the guy seemed he might of been a bit high so most likely he wasn't serious or might hurt himself thinking it is something you can learn in an hour. I think that is one problem too. Getting started seems a bit huge. I gave up when I was a teen because I never was able to get a good board (my old boards were really shit Walmart and Toy's R Us boards) and I felt saving up wasn't worth it when I would need money for hanging out with friends or buying other stuff. I only started recently since I work full time and have the money. I think just having a basic starter board that isn't $100 would be a good way for people to feel more comfortable in trying it out at least. I also was a bit more motivated to skate more since I did pay like $160 for my board (ended up buying dragon peralta's so another $50) so maybe there is some counter argument to the price.
Another thing is like you said, people gatekeeping it. I feel its less that now and more welcoming since now it feels less underground and there are many channels like Braille, Yung Wavy, and John Hill that make it more positive and motivating to go out and learn. I try to do my part when I see someone comment how they feel uncomfortable skating on their own or if they should wear a certain shirt because they are just beginner skaters. To anyone who is also feeling insecure, just go out and have fun! I have countless eyes on me when I skate and most so far have ranged from super positive to just looking because they are curious. Had one guy compliment my board, one woman just smile as I cruised by her, and a few people just excited and saying hello to me since it's super rare to see someone ride a skateboard here. I still feel the anxiety here and then but once I start riding for a few minutes, it just goes away.
I also think the video games had a huge factor too. Skate series and even Tony Hawk Pro Skater got people interested. THPS was my introduction to skateboarding and it was one huge influence in me wanting to pick up a board in the first place. I do know Riders Republic is adding skateboarding to their game in September I believe and there is that new online Skate game being made by EA so hopefully that helps out a bit.

. Skating is pretty much dead. im 24 and knew so many people in middle school who skated and took it seriously. now i go to a park, im lucky to see 1 skater for every 10 scooter / toddlers. I wish there were more skaters, i dont even mind kid skaters, or new skaters. i was one once. its just dead as a cultural phenomenon.

Skateboarding always dies and comes back. I’m not too worried about it. I know it will come back again. Obviously, it’s dying compared to 2020 or definitely compared to 2003. A lot less people are Skateboarding now. A lot of people got bored with it, and just quit. Even Braille is having a hard time making it. Aaron is doing some of the videos himself and had to cut some costs.

The Bible teaches us the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom It teaches us to fear the one who can destroy the body and the soul not the one who can only destroy the body. The government teaches us to fear made up plandemics. The illuminati is there to illuminate certain things that Satan allows them to illuminate. They created conspiracy theories to keep people afraid all the time. A lot of the one eye Photos and satanic imagery in the music industry and in Hollywood it’s just there to keep people scared and create conspiracy theories. fear of God is the same fear as any other parental figure, it is a fear of life without them if you disappoint them too greatly. not fear of punishment. if you read the bible you know hell is reserved for the wicked, not sinners. God punishes those that seek to replace Him, not those who fall short of perfect. Do some churches use the type fear you're alluding to? Sure do. How? Because few people read the book themselves and even less study it, which if you read it, it directly tells you to do.

    • @MichaelRelevant
      @MichaelRelevant  Год назад +1

@@postjazz1258 here’s the difference between Christianity and every other religion. Every other religion claims you can go to heaven because of what you do or what you don’t do. They think it’s about works. Christianity and the Bible teach that if you trust in your own works, no matter what you do you will go to hell. Christianity teaches. The only way to be saved is the trust in Jesus that he died for your sins. Because everyone has sinned, God had to come to earth in a human body to die for sin. God is just, and he has to punish sin, and he can’t just decide to forget about sin. If a judge was just he would have to punish a criminal for a crime. If a judge, let a criminal go who committed a crime that is not a good judge, or a just judge. Because the wages of sin is death, someone had to pay that debt. Some people think it would be immoral for God to kill someone. But would it be immoral for God to kill something He created? Someone that broke his law and his law was if you break any of those laws wages would be death? Not only do we have the law written down that we have the law written on our hearts. We actually know when we’re doing something right or something wrong, and we feel guilty about it. All cultures across the world have these feelings. So every second God allows us to stay alive without striking you dead
, it’s just his mercy and grace. All we deserve is instant death and hell. That’s the wages of sin. People don’t understand how bad sin really is because we’ve been brainwashed to think that it’s OK. But things like lying lust and causing someone to lust, manipulating or cheating, are actually really serious. None of us can go without sin. Also, there’s nothing wrong with fear of a parental figure. We should respect and fear our parents. A lot of people think of God, the same way they think of their father.
If that person’s father was harsh with them, they think of God as a harsh father. If that person’s father was too lenient on them, then they think of God as being very lenient. That’s why it’s important to be a good father, and have a good father.
