the man she met on the aeroplane is a legend, name is AMITABH BACCHAN. One of his best performance is in movie PINK( i would recommend you to watch it)
The hiatus is more common for the women. In the past once they got married or had kids they stopped movies all together or start taking long breaks between movies. It's started to change in the 2000s
Hey Ed and Alex, I appreciate your even keeled reviews and discussion. Here are 3 movies I’m fairly sure you will enjoy and I’d be interested in hearing your views: 1. ‘96 - beautifully crafted story about bittersweet first love, adolescence and nostalgia. 2. Vikram Vedha (the Tamil original with Vijay Sethupathy) Cleverly done cop/villain, cat and mouse procedural 3. Raman Raghav 2.0 Dark, twisted, guttural take on a serial killer with fantastic performances and direction Hope you’ll consider my recommendations. All the best for your channel! 😊
It’s so interesting how appalled you were by the first part where Shashi’s family was being shitty to her because this is such a regular and common scenario in Indian homes that it wasn’t very remarkable, and seemed just like world-building. The only difference is that in real life the women in her situation, homemakers, mothers, wives usually smile and take the mockery in their stride and accept it as something they’re in on and don’t show the hurt openly. In all our homes, mothers, aunts are all used to being ribbed about their weaknesses and being shouted at by their children- the same children who would probably never shout at their dad because the pecking order is usually intuitive and obvious. It’s just really revealing how much that bothered you
Shridevi was one of the first female superstar in bollywood she worked with many superstar as you know srk, salman khan, akshay kumar, anil kapoor and others she took a long break because of her family and also one reason is that in bollywood as actress get old they are replaced by the younger one's and they are not offered many roles to play, not same with the male actors... Her last film was MOM.
Liked your review . The man she met on the plane is one of the legends of Indian cinema - Amitabh Bacchan … just came for a cameo Looking forward to your review on Dangal

41:03 - yes Sridevi sadly passed away exactly 6 years ago. Her death remains shrouded in mystery. Very similar to Whitney Houston. There are some very scary conspiracy theories. The truth will come out one day. You're right - English Vinglish was her comeback after 15 years away from films. She was born in 1963, and began a career as a child star in 1967. Her last film was Mom in 2017. Next Sridevi films to watch: 💜 CHAALBAAZ (1989) 💙 CHANDNI (1989) 💖 MR. INDIA (1987) 🧡 JUDAAI (1997) 💚 MOM (2017)
I think you need to understand the context of what English means in India. India was colonised by the Brits who treated Indians (and their languages as inferior). So white supremacy got internalised in the local population. Knowing English became a measure of Education, intelligence and very importantly, status. So those who couldn’t speak English were considered as inferior in status and looked down upon. Which is why the girl is embarrassed of her mother not being able to speak English. It triggers an internal shame that stems from the feelings of inferiority and inadequacy the British left behind but now deeply ingrained in the fabric of modern Indian society, where proximity to whiteness (light skin, speaking English, western clothes, white friends) accords higher status whereas the more Indian and local you are, the lower you’re seen in status. Sorry to say but the legacy of colonialism continues to affect former colonies to this day. White Supremacy & Racism continues to affect how one sees the world & how one is seen.
bro u can tell how legend of an actor Amitabh Bachchan is even though these guys don't know him as we know as the brando & de niro mixed together still he left such an impact that they talked about him first
Did you guys just called the alpachino of India, just a man on the plan 😂😂😂😂😂.....it was his cameo.......you guys should start watching amibat Bachchan's movies....he is the denirro or alpachino of India.....i would recommend pink movie I think it's his best performance
I really love the heroine's sister daughter too. She was so sweet and pretty. She supported her aunt from start to the end. And her younger son was so damn cute.
You should have seen Piku. However, I realise English Vinglish was in the lead. You seem to be in agreement in what I said about it -- sentimental, simple plot, characters and direction. Sri Devi is that best thing about the movie and one of her last before her unfortunate and suspicious death. Yes watch Dangal. You'll love it.
Also: just a word of warning, I know of some YTbers who have gotten demonetized due to bad language (???). I'm not a YTber so don't know the specifics of the rules, but you might want to check, if you haven't already. YT sucks that way.
Guys, you must watch DRISHYAM 1 & DRISHYAM 2 in its original Malayalam language with English subtitles. If ANDHADHUN blew your minds , these two part movies will definitely enthrall you. Regards from an Indian dude domiciled in Hong Kong. 🙏💖
"THE MAN ON THE PLANE"?? Really?? U dont know him?? He is Amitabh Bacchan. The greatest superstar of India ever. He is the same actor who has worked in The Great Gatsby, not sure if u watched that movie.. But otherwise u reactions are really awesome.. enjoy it.. keep up the great work.. Lots of love.. ❤
Completely agree with you about the first half of the movie, but don't really agree about the second half. Yes, it improved quite a bit, but for me, it didn't redeem itself, tbh. I didn't want her to end up with the new guy, but I didn't want her to go back to family either. Also, the kids being so bad didn't reflect well on her and her husband. I ultimately didn't like anyone in the movie (other than the class) very much, even tho Sridevi is adorable as a person/actress. I wasn't a big fan of this movie.
The actors, actresses writer director all of them were new in this one.no promotions too.although it went flop on threatures because there supposed to be a 3rd part too(coz hero had 5 sons but movie shows only 4 characters)but it never happend.later people loved after realising talents.infact 2actors 2actresses and writer of the movie went well recognissd.you have to watch both of them togheter
Dear Ed and Alex, after having watched different kinds of movies, I would love you to give a very famous period warrior film a try. It is a movie about two historic persons who really existed and who fell in love with each other. The movie is called "Bajirao Mastani" and it is about the love between the Muslim warrior princess Mastani👸 who asks the Hindu warrior lord Bajirao👳♀️ for help to defeat a Muslim enemy fighter who is besieging her family's fortress. They fight together against the enemy and later fall in love. ❤ The movie is epic in all regards: beautiful and great actors, great scenery, great costumes, great dancing scenes, great acting. I would love you to watch this movie. It would make me very happy. 😊😊
We are in dire need of an epic period piece! Definitely need to get a period epic only poll going on RUclips!! Soon we promise! We know you've been here since the beginning!

It adds to the content and it's uniqueness.

This movie is all too real for many women in India here.
Try "Hindi medium" which explains a little scenario of education in India with hint of humour and lead actor is none other than "IRFAN KHAN" 😊
