But how many last second come from behind 1 touchdown or more in the last quarter of a game have you seen? I know I've seen a fair share. Nobody thought the 3 point shot in basketball would be so significant either until players like Steph Curry starting making them. A quick strike offense has worked in spurts although I will grant you no one has done it consistently over the course of a season. Maybe because no one has put enough though into it.

It's not illegal for private schools to offer scholarships. Illegal recruitment is only a public school issue. How do you think schools like IMG Bradenton, St. Thomas Aquinas Ft. Lauderdale, and Bosco Prep Ramsey, NJ operate? A lot of the Top Ranked High Schools in the Nation are private schools that offer scholarships. I am a Football Official and I have seen a lot of these schools come to our area to Play IMG Bradenton, FL, Venice High Venice, FL, and Manatee High, Bradenton, FL (When they were stacked.). Those big schools are huge and full of studs. Venice and Manatee High are public schools and historically they held there own with the private schools. They have all played on ESPN alot. It is a shame that to be part of the topped rank schools in the Nation (based on legitimate polls) you need to be enrolled in a private school that costs as much as some colleges.

Sometimes the kicker is not appreciated enough. I’m not talking about the kicker on this team. I’m talking about any kicker. We played a team this year in high school that had a tremendous defense but the offense was just OK. The offense could score and they were big and they ran a lot. The frustration came with their kicker. My hats off to him. When they scored we knew that we were going to get the ball at the 20 yard line. Because he kept it 5 yards deep minimum or out of the end zone. His kickoffs averaged 4.1 hang time. It’s not that he could just reach the end zone they came straight down out of the sky in to the end zone, his height was amazing. We forced them to punt from their twenty and he punted 48 yards. He was a beast from inside the 35 yard line. He went for four of four on field goals from 34 33 31 and 29. We had a better offense but their defense was very good. We lost that game by four points. If it wasn’t for the kicker we would’ve beat them. LOL. I guess that’s why he went division 1. We never played another team that year with such a dominant kicker. I shook their coaches hand and I said my goodness your kicker is amazing. The coach said, he is a beast and in 22 years of coaching I’ve never had a kicker like that. Dang....I wish he had not been so good that night...lol.

My HS coach was the same way and would have our QB punt just in case he couldn’t make a play. I remember one game, he fumbled and rushed the punt and literally no exaggeration punted the ball completely sideways and it went out of bounds and was about a 12 yard punt. I tore my ACL my Sr. year and could still punt a 4 second hang time pretty consistently. 🤷🏼♂️
So we played this team, the video fails to mention that they are a private school that plays all public schools. So they don’t have to follow the Five A rules. They are the only school that can recruit players. And I know that football isn’t a game with room for excuses, but they get an edge that the rest of the schools don’t get. To add the “nick saben” thing, this would be like nick coaching in the Big 10. Fayetteville is in 7A, they would be a 5-5 team if they did this in that division🤷🏻♂️
Yeah that is important, in Seattle the only respectable league is 3a because there are multiple private schools recruiting instead of just one dominating public schools.
It's not like a lot of other "academies" or other private schools don't. It's one of the worst kept secrets in high school sports, not just football. Usually the "underprivileged" kids who get scholarships to schools like those, just "happen" to also be very good athletes. In a lot of cases it's win-win, both for the school, but more importantly for the kid and his/her family.

Yeah, we put a lot of emphasis on sports, but it's not without it's merits. Team sports teaches kids to work hard, work together, have goals and gives some kids a reason to stay in school. But, yeah, academics take a back seat quite often.
I want to say that my high-schools football team had a bigger o-line then PA and we were at the bottom but idk, they didn't really talk about the ol/dl as usual for football shows.
