Guelph is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Known as "The Royal City", Guelph is roughly 28 km east of Kitchener and 100 km west of Downtown Toronto. City of Guelph is known for its limestone architecture, dynamic culture and high standard of living. In fact, it has been voted as one of the country's best cities to live in. Right in the historic area of Downton Guelph is the magnificent Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate. This Roman Catholic basilica is known to be one of the finest works of architect Joseph Connolly.

I lived in Guelph for 25 years. Most of my memories there were happy and amazing. Sadly, I have not been back in 25 years. Hello, is this generally a safe city to live in? Is it affordable to rent there ?Does it welcome diversity? i 'd like to explore my options in other Canadian provinces, or smaller cities (I am from Vanc.,BC)
@@joang.6664 Yes Guelph is a family oriented town. Very safe. Some areas worse than others but still very much explorable without being harassed. Maybe someone will ask for change or a cigarette. Prince Edward county in Ontario is one of the best spots in Ontario Imo.

I am an international student, so would suggest you to gather info from people who are residing there for more than 3 years.

I was born in Guelph and I grew up in Guelph before it was cool. I can say it was cooler when I was young than it is now. The Chooch? The Odeon Theater? The cow with the hole in its side you could stick your arm in? The hill in Centennial Park? (Mo hill) The Guelph Platers?

Now this place e is better than KW. Better as in scenery but not really exciting. Many celebrities have visited the Homewood rehab center here. I was jogging 10 miles a day there during my 28 day stay in the 90s.
The mafia use to run this city. Roger Caron wrote about the Guelph Correctional institute in his book called Go Boy. I read the book there while in segregation for 30 days. I think it's either gone or open for tours. There was a bad riot there. The building alone is amazing. I've seen the dungeons and I've even stayed in the crazy unit there for half a year.
I know Guelph like the back of my hand. I remember when the downtown was redone. I lived behind the church of our lady. In 1980 the doors were never locked. I even took the money left in a bowl so me and a friend could play video games at an old place called an arcade.
Guelph is boring. That's how the mafia ran it. It does have a beautiful downtown core.

but ppl can buy pool noodls n shit
hot glue gun sticks r non essential
I go intoa grocery store
and I see a mother cant buy a pacifier for her baby and all the clothes r taped off non essential...
but I can go buy beer enxt door or ubuy a lottery ticket at the cash
hairdressers r closed and other small buinseses r curbside only but I can go into walmart or a groceyr store
this emergency act that makes tjhis stuff do got voted on and got extened 7 months

Wost town ever! full of drug addiction and factories....a lot of racism and alcohol induced fights downtown. Just took a large population of kitchenrs homless for some reason.....
Guelph is now known as tent city kitchener.
