Another great video! I did laugh out loud when Toyhax expected me to cover over his beautiful light piping with decals. That didn't happen for my Cyclonus, personally, but the red eyes do look nice on yours.
Man I loved this figure already but this set really makes him pop more. I was expecting a set for the windows in vehicle mode to have an angry Galvatron inside.
The sword he wields in the IDW comics is a Cybertronian Great Sword. The same kind of sword Drift has. They're the primary weapons of the Circle of Light, a society of Transformers who are neither Autobot nor Decepticon, who left Cybertron long ago to find a new home far away from the war. They founded a hidden colony on a remote planet and called it the New Crystal City, named after the city Omega Supreme once protected. The Circle of Light's mission is to preserve the history and culture of Cybertron, as well as the ways of the Knights of Cybertron, by practicing martial arts and the ways of the sword. The best way I can describe them in a few words, think the Jedi Order from Star Wars crossed with the Asgardians from Marvel Comics. They were led by Dai Atlas, a character originally from the Japanese G1 series, Transformers: Zone. Drift is their most prominent member, but there are 3 other named members. Axe, Wing, and Star Saber, a character from the Japanese G1 series, Transformers: Victory. As for why Cyclonus has his own Great Sword, I believe it was given to him by Dai Atlas. Whirl also has one, for some reason. Never really pegged that guy for a sword-wielder.... If you're interested, the Drift mini-series is a great read. Highly recommend.
He looks good with the new decals but in my opinion he is one of the few figures that really don't needs them he looks awesome the way he is. I got Siege Onega Supreme a few days ago now am waiting for my Toyhax decals set i bought the 3 decal set that Toyhax has for him so i can't wait to start putting labels on him
Great looking set. Not quite minimalist, but nothing that was really glaringly obvious. Guess when a figure is that good to begin with all you really need is to highlight it!
Cyclonus had a pretty wide chin, I haven't seen any instances of him having orange eyes so it may have something to do with having a ton of orange transparent plastic at the factory and that's what they've gone for. Luckily it should be hard to remove that part one day and put a better set of eyes in.
Usually, I can see the upgrades in the Toyhax, but this kinda seems off to me. The goatee can be fixed with a sharpie (or panel liner pen if you have Gundam too). The neck decal feels more like an off-model thing. I suppose it's just one of those "make it more like the toy" things
Firetox’s sword and scabbard looks great, but I much prefer the twin swords you get from the BDT Studio Upgrade Kit. I’ll admit, I only got that one for the swords.
Do you ever wonder if hasbro makes small errors, (head sculpts, coloring, missing something) so they don't sell you the perfect version of the character? out of fear you won't buy another one!?! maybe i'm just paranoid.
Though I don't like losing the light piping, I really like the stickers for the eyes. The actual eyes are weirdly angled and positioned and in my opinion, moreso than the chin, the eyes are what make the face off putting. The stickers definitely improve the eyes and the face. Great review as always Mr. P.
I like this set, don't know that i would use all of it but a bunch of it does a really good job at breaking up the color a bit. And the sword is one of my all time favorite pieces :)
With the right mix of stickers, it made one of the best official mainline Transformers figures even better.

Did you forget to do toyhax comparison next to G1? That was one of the things i look forword to. Great review.
There wasn't any G1 throwbacks to really compare too, I addressed that at the end.
They did an amazing job enhancing the robot mode. Although, vehicle mode enhancements are a tad underwhelming. But that's just me.
I don't know why he doesn't wield a sword.

IDW is a good take on Transformers. Cyclonus is not a Decepticon in IDW though.
My Cyclonus came straight out of the box with a loose asf arm. The "bicep" swivel is just not that great 😞
This actually looks worse with the stickers. The figure was pretty much perfect as is.
