Braxton Creek Bushwhacker Plus Review - Watch before you buy!!

  • If you are considering a Braxton Creek RV/travel trailer, watch this video. It covers our fault filled first four months of ownership of a Bushwhacker Pls 17FL.
Visit our website with other customer reviews at www.braxtoncre....
In the video I stated that my nearest dealer stated that we would be responsible for the labor related to fixing warranty issues. The dealer has confirmed that labor will be included for all warranty repairs, whenever they take place. I apologize for the misstatement.
Since posting this video, the air conditioner has stopped working, the shower seals were fixed and are coming off again, the battery stopped providing power to the trailer, you must be connected to electricity, and, in the middle of nowhere, the support for the waste pipe broke and we were dragging the pipe on the ground. The replacement cabinet the dealer ordered in the July-August 2021 time frame has not arrived.

I almost bought this exact make and model...as I was sitting inside the bushwhacked plus some interior mounding popped off and I noticed it has some flimsy thin tiny staples holding everything together. I got my deposit back, went across the street and ordered a 2022 Tab320s Boondock. Manufacture will occur in November and it will be shipped to my dealer in January...so excited. The Tabs are quality built.

Oh mine, you sound like you seriously had some issues and should have returned it. I thank goodness I haven't had any problems with my short besides it wasn't so useful until I replaced it with another one that works great! I had to re-screw a few screws but nothing to major. I have a fam, but a FreeSolo is made just about the same. Now, I do have some minor functions with how they made the door panel for the bottle door at the lower bunch that I had to place memory form to keep the bugs out. And yes, that's very undetail for how they made it. I contacted Brandson to tell them about this, and had to re-screw the board at the button of the refrigerator. So yes, I agree there are some issues and need improvement.

So sorry to hear of these issues with Braxton Creek campers. This is a frustrating situation to be in and I can only hope it doesn't visit our back door! We bought a 2022 - 15FK and so far so good, but we don't camp a lot. We are a New Hampshire working farm and tend to take short camping trips to get off the farm for a night or two. Our older Tacoma cannot pull a heavier camper, so the 15FK was our choice for the price. If I was going to spend more money, I would look for a used, yes used, 21' Little Guy Max that had one owner and was well maintained. That way a lot of bugs should have already been found and repaired. And you won't pay the full price for a new one! I follow Mitch at TRAVELING TEARDROP. He has a 15FK and is satisfied with his purchase. He and his wife are avid campers in the North East, year round. Mitch has gone through his teardrop and made repairs and modifications. He clearly discusses the work and upkeep that he has done. I find him to be candid and helpful. I also like to follow along with their trips. All the best to everyone! ~ Diane

True, but the waste system should not fall of in the first week of ownership, nor a wheel fall off on the way home the dealers. At no time should the entire cabin fall off the trailer frame. Those are real events that have happened to owners.

  • @ely336
    @ely336 3 года назад +2

I am sorry to hear you are having so many problems. Did you buy this trainer new from a reputable dealer. it is their job to prep your unit for delivery and teach you how to use and care for your trailer for your safety and enjoyment of your purchase. Have you talked to your selling dealer? There is no rv that will not have problems. not defending Braxton Creek and more attention to QC would certainly be helpful. That is why a lot of this stuff should be fixed before you leave with it.
About your expectations. You will have problems no matter what you buy and be ready to return to your dealer with a list of items to be corrected. you mentioned batteries I think and those are usually supplied by the dealer not BC. I have owned 20 or so trailers over the years and have luckily not have an explosion on a water heater. Did you find out what happened? Did you have water in the tank and were the water line valves opened properly? Just curious about the brand and what failed? Anyway a lot of this stuff is disappointing but to quote a couple that full time RV KYA? this can be part of the adventure but don't let it ruin your fun. Good luck to you and I hope you get things worked out. Yes I would still buy a Braxton Creek trailer and as a matter of fact the 15fk fits what my wife wants for her mountain property and use. I expect delivery in a couple of weeks. Do I expect some problems? You bet but it fits the price range and limited use for us in our last years. Our last one was atop of the line Lance trailer at 3 times the cost. Did I have problems? You bet and either fixed some myself or at the dealer. And some were my fault too. Hope you and your wife stay safe with your cute dogs. Best Regards Ed

    • @jas8880
      @jas8880  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Ed,
The dealer has been somewhat helpful however they are 2,000 miles away and other dealers are not obligated to do warranty repairs. The nearest dealer will get parts under warranty but I am on the hook for labor. All the lines were open at the hot water tank and it had been working for several days. The water heater problem was a loose wire not correctly attached at the factory. It cam loose on the first dirt road we travelled.
Despite the price point I believe that a unit should not be falling apart after three months. For every wall seal in the shower to go is simply unacceptable.

Sadly this is just another Jayco trailer. And Jayco quality control is Lousy. Stay away. If you buy a Jayco trailer or any trailer under the corporate umbrella be prepared to become an unpaid RV repair man with plenty of on the job training. Forget about enjoying your hard earned vacation time and relaxation. Dealerships have so many issues they can’t possible hire enough RV techs. They know and don’t care selling these sub par units to make a fast buck
Pretty much anything made in Indiana , whether it is Thor or Forest River or any of the others is garbage. And when they say Amish built they must be talking about a distant relative because most of the RV employees are meth heads

My concern was that every used teardrop camper that I'd seen up to that point has been at a minimum 20K and higher (mostly higher- like in the 30's especially for this late a model year- 2021 -but bear in mind; they were not 'braxton creek free solo'. They were NuCamp or Little Guy's). NOW I understand WHY they're only asking 16K for a 2021 model FreeSolo Romo. I'm glad I stumbled across your video. Thank you for sharing. I'll steer clear of this manufacturer.

Your issues are common with many manufacturers unfortunately. I've learned to change things before rolling out on a trip. This is completely unacceptable at today's prices! Crazy. Thank you for sharing.

The RV industry is total junk but I'm thankful I watched this video.
They do keep sucking me in, even though I know better. I have cut the line on these folks before they got me in the boat thanks to this video.

We have the 17bh. We had it three months and same thing. Shower falling apart, condensation d/t air conditioner running which warped all of our cabinetry and caused mildew. Air conditioner leaking d/t a seal being left off by Braxton creek causing the motherboard of the furnace to having to be replaced. It has been in the shop more than it has been at our house. Problem after problem. Would never recommend this camper.

Our 2021 Braxton bushwhacker was nothing but trouble from day one, the furnace has never worked, the matrices (teddy bear type) had the aroma of a house of ill repute! something dead. had to replace battery with only 2 months of use. AC only blows hot air ! made contact with Braxton , very rude lady answered the phone. would not help with anything. told me to deal with the dealer. local dealer is a waste of time, told me it would be a minimum of six months before they would look at it. and then no time frame when it might be done. The warranty is nothing more than a sales gimmick or lip service pick your flavor, would not recommend this brand to anyone, or to purchase this brand.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. We were going to experience this for the first time. We love outdoors and my husband is going to retire soon. We got in love with the unit and going to buy it today. I could not sleep the entire night just thinking if we were going to have a problem after we buy it until I got to see your video. Thank you so much for sharing it.

Jim speaks the truth! I bought a BW Teardrop. Dexter brakes never worked correctly. I had to disable them. The hurricane hinge was too short for the application, rain water went directly into the kitchen area on both sides of the door. The propane gas fittings were installed INCORRECTLY and leaked propane at the stove. The bottom edge of the unit was not sealed-all four sides. It just goes on and on. I had the trailer into the dealer 4 times for the brakes. The techs could never figure out why the passenger side brake shoes would SELF-ADJUST OUTWARD so as to make full, under pressure, contact with the drum. Braxton Creek is a company that I liken to Joe Biden...not worth a dam.

You should have purchased your camper from A&L RV Sales, they have 8 stores located in TN, VA, GA, and NC and offer a Forever Warranty at no cost to you.......you just have to get a safety inspection once a year and you are covered. This is a no deductible warranty and covers all of your appliances and water heater and other things that you have talked about in this video. From what I have experienced it's not always what you buy but who you buy it from.

I was about to buy a Bushwhacker Plus 15FK trailer but after seeing this video have decide against it. I guess it says a lot when there is no official Braxton Creek or Bushwhacker RUclips channels. Usually manufacturers will have their own channels for marketing, to provide user tips etc and encourage costumer feedback. No RUclips is a bit strange. They leave everything up to local dealers. Not the best sign.
I found their corporate "PRINCIPLES" interesting:
    Braxton Creek PRINCIPLES:
Quality Craftsmanship: Doing things right the first time. This saves time, money, and relationships, and it's reflected in our 1-year Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty-a rare find in this industry.
Integrity: Doing what we say we'll do. And, doing unto others as we would have them do unto us. This is where it all starts and ends at Braxton Creek.
Ease of Doing Business: A limited distribution strategy, paired with a dealer and customer-friendly warranty claim process, provides the certainty all parties deserve.
It's a shame. I liked the idea behind these trailers. Too bad its not executed well.

There comes a point when trying to save money on a camp trailer is not worth it. This product is one of thoes occasions. Yes ask any dealer, Braxton Creek is the best camper on the market for the price! There should be Lemon Laws for campers. Like most people, I only trust word of mouth from actual owners. The last thing you want on the road are problems that should not be problems. Thanks.

I wish I would have done my research before getting mines. I've had it for five months and I'm ready to get real of mines, because I've hardly used it. I have seriously put in some funds with this bad bugger! When I purchased mines from Dunlap in Bowling Green, KY (avoid them in its entirety). I'm a single color woman who didn't know much about a camper. Got it because it would save me money from renting a hotel while being on contracts.
Well, they rigged up my hitch by placing the wiring close to the haust pipe and burned the wiring and I had to pay the labor fee that wasn't covered by the warn or anything. That was $200 dollars and the blower to the fauna continued to run over 28hrs, and had to take it to a shop to find that the air from the propane needed released. Man, this camper has it's ups and downs so be aware.

Price point on these is attractive; however, if they aren't built well, it isn't worth it. Too bad as the layout looks pretty good if you want a camper with a bathroom/toilet.

Wish I saw this before I bought mine. It’s been nothing but a nightmare, before even the first trip. Was in for warranty twice and then they tried to actually steal my trailer by contacting my bank and paying off my loan, unknown to me completely. If it weren’t from my bank, sending me a standard payoff letter, acknowledging the payment, I would’ve had no ideathat they were planning on sending a driver to pick up my camper after buying it back from me. I never authorized.

I wouldn't buy any RV made during the covid years. Well documented supply issues, high turnover of trained staff, etc. That on top of already shoddy quality in pre-covid era. Buy a slightly used pre-covid era and invest in a competent RV inspector increases your odds.
