    Irun. Nostalgic for me. Been there a lot as a kid with my father. He was a truck-driver. He did a lot Spain and Portugal. I remember the customs in Irun. Spain and Portugal weren’t easy to drive back in the days. That Somosierra direction Madrid and the IP5 in Portugal were pretty dangerous. With a Volvo F12, 300 HP, no airco… 😅. The good, old days.. greetzzz nice video😊👍👍👍🫶🫶🫶

    Regarding reservoirs. I also had the same thought about always needing to limit water in dry summers. Why don't the Government make the water firms build more reserviors. And this was the answer: "The last major public water supply reservoir to be constructed in the UK for water supply purposes was Carsington in 1991, and although a number of water supply reservoirs have been proposed since the 1960's very few have made it to completion"

    Vineyards are always built on slopes so water drains away. Vines don't really do well in wet soil. Onions, probably using ground not fit for vines. Just using a bit of ground to grow stuff that can bring in a bit of extra revenue. In France, they grow roses at the edge of fields of vines. This isn't to make it pretty, or to have white roses against white grapes or red roses for red vines, roses are actually to catch the diseases that kill vines, but roses can tolerate the disease and attracts the spores/insects.

    • @GBtrucklady
      @GBtrucklady 8 месяцев назад

      I was wondering if onions did the same job as you describe the roses do, attract things that are harmful to the vines.

    • @thomasgarwell8214
      @thomasgarwell8214 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@GBtrucklady not really. Onions attract mould and onion flies. They can be planted two years on the trot, but not every year. If onion flies come down and/or mould, I'm sure its going to be about 8 years +/- before you can use the bed for onions. This could be this country only as Spain is a hot place during onion growing season

    New subscriber here. Binge watching your youtube vids! 😄Great seeing you in Spain of late, especially along roads I use a lot as I live in Alicante. One thing though, the bull statues you see do not denote a town with a bull ring but is rather just an advertisement for a brandy. "The Osborne Bull is the black silhouette of bull that stands on hilltops and along the roadside in many - but not all - parts of Spain. It began as nothing more than an advertisement in 1956 when the Osborne Group set out to promote 'Veteran' brandy. An Andalucian artist by the name of Manolo Prieto suggested the bull and thus set a legend in motion.........Even though the Osborne Bull really is a commercial figure, it’s cultural status as a symbol of all things Spanish is so widely accepted as to create a backlash in some parts of Spain with Catalan’s ripping down any attempt to raise an Osborne Bull and some Basque’s raising a Basque sheep instead."
