  • If there was ever a Swiss Army knife of Brush Cutters, this has got to be it. I'm out in the Lane Shark LS-4 Brush Cutter today cutting back overhanging branches and mowing some tall grass along my trails. With a big rural property like mine, trail maintenance is always something I"m out doing. Lucky for me this brush cutter allows me to retire the pole saw and enjoy the A/C and sludge inside my tractor cab. Hopefully the bugs don't go extinct without the feast that me walking my trails cutting back brush by hand often provides them.

    I have an LS2. Bought it new and used it maybe 2 hours trimming a driveway and three of the main bracket bolts broke that needed to be replaced with more heavy duty bolts. Got it running and took to my hunting lease to trim lanes. After 2 days (about 10 hours of actually working it) the skid steer mounting plate bent from the torque of the weight of the unit, the main pivot had about 1/2" of wobble and play and 2 main bearings in the motor housing went out and scared the main drive shaft. Lane Shark was contacted and were zero help. Said it was operator error and abuse. The unit never saw any branches over 2" and was used on a new Kubota M4-071 with a cab and was not "abused"! I spent $1730 on parts and labor plus the bearings and shaft that are on order now to fix it.
    These units are not built to handle what they are intended to do. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY unless you have a good machine shop that can beef it up for you because you will need to beef it up substantially!!!! Unfortunately there really isn't another option like this out there. Beef it up Lane Shark or someone is going to get hurt when one of these comes apart while running!!!!

    Hello Sandy. This is an impressive machine as it is. It would be cool if the configuration could be changed from the cab, but that would mean a complete rework of the tool to accommodate the hydraulics. It does not seem to be a burden at all for your tractor. Have good days!

    That sure works slick, but I think I would miss walking down all of my long trails with a lopper and pole saw. It gives you exercise, improves your dexterity (trimming branches and swatting mosquitoes at the same time is quite a skill), and it improves your endurance (after finishing the trail exhausted, you still need to walk back the length of the trail). I'm not sure what I would do without all of that in my life. On second thought, maybe I would enjoy it more. After all, isn't that the reason we have tractors and implements? I'm just kidding about doing it by hand, although that is how I do it now. The problem with owning a tractor is that there is always another implement to buy. I'm not broke yet, but I'm working on it. Thanks for sharing.

    Hey Sandy! greetings again ftom the NEK in VT. Great mower! Nice to not have to crane your neck around to watch behind you! I'm so sick of that. The only thing that could make that mower better is if you could change its orientation from the cab. That sounds like an awesome welding and hydraulic project!

    Just caught your video so a little late to the party! Just wondering if it would work with just a regular third-function connection? If not, what alteration would be required. I have a Kubota L4060 with a dealer installed third-function that runs my grapple. It has the rocker switch installed on the joystick. Regards.

    • @sawingwithsandy
      @sawingwithsandy  Месяц назад

      I’m not 100% but I believe what makes the third function kit I have a bit different is it is continuous flow so the hydraulic fluid doesn’t flow back through the valve but instead goes directly to the tractor sump which keeps the system from having any issue with hydraulic fluid temperature increase

  • @wallacefrey6247
