Inaugural Ceremony - VMSCL G. D. Kamat National Moot Court Competition 2024 | Adv. Devidas Pangam

The 2nd edition of the VSMCL Justice G.D. Kamat Memorial National Moot Court Competition was inaugurated by the Advocate General of Goa, Adv. Devidas Pangam, marking the beginning of a three-day competition showcasing the legal prowess of 24 esteemed teams from across the nation.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished personalities who unveiled the competition's trophies. Notable figures such as Adv. Devidas Pangam, VMSCL Principal Dr. Shaber Ali, Trustee of G. D. Kamat Memorial Trust Dr. Ajay Vaidya, Member of the VMSCL Governing Council Shri. A. E. Barreto, Faculty Incharges Dr. K. Shrinivas Rao & Ms. Priyanka Shet, and the student coordinator Ms. Riddhi Moghe graced the occasion. Representatives of the G.D. Kamat Memorial Trust, including Shri. G. K. Tamba, Mrs Kumud Kamat, Adv. Saresh Lotlikar, Ninad Kamat, and others were also present.
Adv. Devidas Pangam, an alumnus of VMSCL, expressed his delight at being invited as the chief guest, likening it to a homecoming. He highlighted the significance of moot court competitions in overcoming the fear of argumentation and expressing opinions, reminiscing about the simplicity and pursuit of justice in Justice G.D. Kamat's courtroom during his early days as a litigator.
Principal Dr. Shaber Ali, in his welcome speech, recognised the efforts of the trustees, emphasising the indispensable role of moot court competitions in the curriculum of law students.
The competition, spanning three days, will culminate in the final round followed by the Valedictory Ceremony. The winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs. 25,000, along with trophies and certificates. Additionally, cash prizes of Rs. 15,000, Rs. 10,000, and Rs. 15,000 will be awarded to the Best Mooter, Best Researcher, and Best Memorial, respectively.
VMSCL has organised this event in collaboration with the Justice G. D. Kamat Memorial Trust, commemorating the legacy of Late Justice G. D. Kamat. Building on the success of its inaugural edition in 2023, this competition promises to be a testament to legal excellence and academic rigour. This is celebrating the spirit of advocacy and justice at the 2nd Justice G.D. Kamat Memorial National Moot Court Competition.
