      Hi Stephen! I need some advice on what to do for my brother-in-law, his partner, and daughter for xmas. I gave them a car in the spring and they cut off contact afterwards because they felt the relationship was too much too fast and his partner felt bullied into accepting the car. My husband and I had been together for 5 years when this happened. They've asked we not initiate contact or send gifts except concerning our niece - we're allowed to give her gifts. My question is... Do I respect their wish for no contact re: Christmas card? I send one every year to our family so I'm not sure if this is included in the "no contact" request... So confused.

    So glad to hear them talking about a balanced healthy diet in a non diet culture way!! Eating cookies and cake in moderation IS healthy!!

    • @missadissa1
      @missadissa1 2 months ago +103

      There's food for your body, and food for your brain. Food for your body feeds your hunger and gives you the nutrients you need, food for your brain feeds your emotions and makes you happy! Some things are one or the other, some are both!

    • @Carolina-pr2ug
      @Carolina-pr2ug 2 months ago +84

      Yeah! Also it's worth to mention that teaching your kids that you arent allowed to have something like a few cookies even during a celebration is probably going to end up giving them some kind of eating disorder in the long run

      @Carolina-pr2ugfacts! The world is on fire and no signs of it slowing down so EAT THE DAMN COOKIES AND CAKE AND ICE CREAM AND BOOZE...oops got derailed at the end there 😅

    • @flute4freek
      @flute4freek 2 months ago +42

      @missadissa1 all food is for your body and brain. all food has nutrients, even cake and cookies, which are for your body! and eating delicious and varied food also makes you happy! i'm happy when i eat a spinach salad because i like spinach, and i'm happy when i eat cake because i like cake, and both contain nutrients that my body can use for energy or building! :)

    • @DrockDrack
      @DrockDrack 2 months ago +9

      @flute4freek This seems like a pretty unnecessary caveat to that person’s comment. To say that spinach and cake feed your body in the same way is absurd.

  • @shoesfillupwithwater
    @shoesfillupwithwater 2 months ago +234

    As a woman with an eating disorder, I can 100% say that “no sweets even on Christmas” is not a way to teach kids healthy eating habits. It’s conditioning them toward a disordered relationship with food. I hope those sweet babies got a few cookies this holiday season!!

    • @victreebel170
      @victreebel170 2 months ago

      @miguelteirlinck6942That's simply untrue. Amazon, maybe, but things in stores have to go under a LOT of scrutiny for safety concerns mostly. Temu stuff will never get recalled, because it's not able to be traced through our typical supply chain. That's scary.

    about the twin sisters thing: that's insane to me.
    I'm an older sibling, and my brothers are twins. They look alike yes, but they couldn't be more different. Someone falling in love for the two of them because "they're basically the same person" would make me incredibly mad 😂

    • @heathermarie4720
      @heathermarie4720 2 months ago +38

      I'm not kidding when I say I hope she divorces him. That is incredibly weird and he doesn't know either of them if he thinks they are exactly the same. No twins are. All of our brains work differently. He just obviously in lust with her sibling and that would be enough for me to say goodbye.

    • @Th4t1badgamer
      @Th4t1badgamer 2 months ago +14

      Like don't get me wrong it's one thing to love your significant others Family it's a whole other way to say like you and your twin sister are the same person, that's just putting in The stereotype of oh they're the same person they're not. I would be divorcing or getting rid of my significant other if that were the case because I'm sorry no I am not the same as my twin

    • @Genna-b4r
      @Genna-b4r 2 months ago +18

      I have heard of people getting with a twin for that specific reason. I think it’s even a k!nk for some which as a twin I find absolutely baffling. People are…unique… that’s the way I’ll phrase it😂

    • @0Voyd
      @0Voyd 2 months ago +13

      It's so creepy and downright disrespectful! Even the most similar twins have inevitable and fundamental differences in who they are, and to say that they're interchangeable just tells me that he doesn't know her beyond her looks, and nor does he care to!
      Absolutely grounds to dump him and tell him to stay as far away from your family as possible (and warn your twin about him too!)

    I think have a mix of healthy and sweet treats available to everyone during the holidays. If he wants to abstain from the sweets, that’s fine, but he doesn’t get to decide for everyone. As for Santa, they could do a cookie and some veggies (lots of people leave out carrots for reindeer). It’s better to teach kids about moderation vs all or nothing mentality.

    • @sneakysnake4363

    I've dated both a fraternal and an identical twin in the past. My perspective is if you actually love and respect your current partner, even somebody who looks or acts the same as them won't do it for you because there isn't that depth of emotional connection.
    While I was dating the identical twin, I was able to easily tell him apart from his brother. Years later, after we've broken up, I literally cannot tell the difference. One wears glasses and the other doesn't. Loving your partner means knowing them down to the small tuft of hair that never seems to sit straight. I was never once attracted to his brother despite their similar appearance, mannerisms, and interests.
    I'm going 2 years strong with my lovely boyfriend, who is a fraternal twin! Him and his brother are basically nothing alike visually and don't have many of the same hobbies or interests. They were best friends growing up, so they have shared jokes and interests and like to do things together. His brother is nice, but my boyfriend is utter perfection. I could never see his brother in any way other than a sibling.

    • @xEllieRose
      @xEllieRose 2 months ago +4

      I'm dating a triplet and they're fraternal and before I knew I was just stewing in my brain on how I'd handle seeing two copies of him walking around

    • @jasmint3207
      @jasmint3207 2 months ago +28

      I can understand someone saying that they find someone other than their partner attractive, especially if they don't require an emotional connection before feeling attraction.
      Finding someone else attractive while in a relationship is pretty normal to me, the important part is how you behave and handle that (according to the boundaries and expectations in that relationship).
      Now, being in love is a different thing!
      But what is the worst part to me is that this guy sees his partner and her twin as the same person. So she is nothing more to him than her appearance? Maybe voice and mannerisms? Twins are different people! You didn't even see me as my own person? That is horrible. Dehumanizing.

    Can we point out that the first bakery didn’t care who was getting their cake and just lucked out that it was for 2 guys. And a lot of people would not of been happy with that. Also I’ve been sugar free since 2010 and sugar free cookies/cakes do exist. A sugar free carrot or apple cake would be a good treat. I would also like to see you two get a wedding cake sampler box. I think that would be fun to watch you guys try the different flavors.😊

    Absolutely not. 14:10 doing shit like that will teach POOR eating habits. Its literally known that restricting types of food, especially from kids, causes them to crave the food more and causes eating disorders. YOU as an ADULT get to make your OWN choices, bad or good. Don't force your eating disorders on your kids.

      Massive over simplification of EDs, my friend.
      Just so you know, no restriction whatsoever is also disordered eating, but I didn't see you acknowledge that part lmao. Not eating cake every once in a while is not going to give anyone an ED.

    • @missadissa1
      @missadissa1 2 months ago +7

      @witherslayer-7315I literally never said that its the ONLY thing that causes eating disorders, not restricting yourself isnt an eating disorder, you're likely thinking of binge eating, which is caused by restriction, and I never said "not eating cake every once in a while will give you an eating disorder". I said restricting foods from kids is known to cause eating disorders, because it is. If you dont want to believe it you can look it up.
      Don't put words into my mouth or try and tell me facts arent true.

      @missadissa1I didn’t say not restricting anything whatsoever was an ED. I said it was disordered eating. There is in fact, a difference. You can participate in disordered eating without having an actual ED lol
      BED is also not *caused* by restriction. That is a symptom of it. BED often has a restriction part of the cycle, but not is not the literal cause of it. EDs normally stem from trauma and anxiety, not just not eating a candy bar every once in a while lol. Speaking as someone who had BED

    as someone who dated and was in love with an identical twin for a long part of my life, they were two very different people personality wise and super close. there's no way i would've been in love with or attracted to his brother.

    14:43 i'm also on a diet for the holidays. everything in moderation. i don't think the holidays is the right time to teach your kids a healthy food lesson. teach them an in moderation lesson. with that said, i looove cake batter. for a sweet treat i mix cake mix with water for something within my calories. sometimes i will add butter/ protein shake/ greek yogurt depending on what macros i need to hit.

    The second one is absolutely adorable!

    That last cake was SO gorgeous. Also! Thank you for not dipping into actual fat or food shaming. If you (generic you) want to make extreme changes to your diet, that's fine-- it's your body. But pressuring your spouse into it, and trying to get your kids roped in, is not okay. Restriction, deprivation, and food shaming is a direct ticket to eating disorders, especially in young people.

    Thats the first time since watching your videos where you 2 are truly so lovely to each other and I recently learned about the PDA thing, but that made my day.
    It is always hard to distinguish if a couple is just joking around or not and somehow it was a bit healing to see the love you feel for eachother.
    I know its not my business.
    But you made it into a video so - I am just happy for you. And for cornbread. He has 2 wonderfull dads.

    So early for once is insane omg. Loved this video!
    also on the advice piece I was thinking the same thing. I think for the Holidays the mom could have sweets in a place she puts them that her husband doesn't know and offer it to the kids in moderation, while keeping it away from the husband if he really doesn't want it around. It's up to him to decide whether or not he wants to have something sweet, but it shouldn't be brought onto his children. Especially with the cookies for Santa, that's insane. If anything they should offer the cookies and some healthy stuff and use it as an opportunity to teach the kids (and unfortunately also the dad) that a balanced meal is healthy.
    But at the same time, that is a grown ass man. He knows better and its not up to her to teach him that lol.

    I love the christmas theme. My local small town bakery did my wedding cake. They are 5 stars and very budget friendly. My husband and I live down the road from them and we are down the street to the beach so we wanted to do a coastal wedding. The girls drew out the plans, took notes of what we wanted and photo reference we sent of the ombre look. Our wedding from tiny, we aren't people people so it would feed 32 people, including the photographer. For a two tiered, ombre blue white wavey look with edible starfish, seaweed, and pearls was only $140. They sent us photos throughout the process. I don't regret where I got the cake at all, it was outstanding in taste too which my husband and I got to choose

    What the dad needs is self control. It's easy to eat healthy when that's the only option around, anyone can do that...there's literally NOTHING else to eat besides the healthy options lol. The real goal is to be able to make smart, balanced decisions. If he can't do that, then that's what he needs help in, not actually losing weight, but self-control and a healthy relationship with food.

    • @DKF_oli

      Seriously, he wants his wife and children to have to suffer because he feels like he can’t control himself or he would feel jealous of everyone else? So immature. Set an example for your children in terms of healthy eating and moderation.
