When u r doing puja it's one of the most important ritual of the day so we must follow the dress code too. Even in western culture despite of very liberal dressing when they go to church they dress conservatively n even cover their heads during prayer , so why not we when we proudly belong to the most richest culture.

You are giving examples of going to school and shopping malls,etc. But just think about one thing: how can you compare spiritual actions like pooja with a mundane action like going to a shopping mall? Spirituality is something beyond worldly actions,so both are incomparable. And in India there are several regions which follows the matriarchial society system. In a matriarchial society,both men and women never wear anything having a marital status. Only in a patriarchal society(perhaps the worst social system ever) married women wears all those "marital items",but men don't have to wear anything. Now if a woman hailing from a matriarchial society have such a puja room in her house,will you order her to wear those "marital" stuffs which is not according to her culture?
