@@MichaelKSherman would you be willing to do a more in depth setup/take down video at some point? That kind of info seems to be passed around person to person and there's not a lot of it out there in the Internet
@@andrewd5810 trying to think what more I can show. Once the show kite is clipped to the line with a carabiner, you're pretty much done. Same with taking it off. Thoughts?
@@MichaelKShermanyou would probably need to narrate it but like someone like me doesn't understand why you use 4 separate steaks or why you chained them together the way you do. I'm sure there's a good reason for stuff like that I just don't know what it is. What knots you are using to tie stuff on, I've always wondered if there's any kind of "rule of thumb" for selecting what size pilot you need for a specific display kite. What kind of line you use and why or how to select it. That kind of stuff.
Hi Michael. You have mastered the skill of a one man show. Often you see a team of people doing what you launched. Of course it looked a perfect wind and lovely location. A team might be nice for the packing up.
Thanks, Carl! So far, I'm 100% on being able to get kites down when on my own. If I had put the Ray up, I might have been stranded. Hoping you're well and finding time to do what you love. 😄
Hi Cynti. Huge reward. Sometimes more of a challenge to get them down. These kites and many others come from Peter Lynn Kites in New Zealand. Many others are made in China.
@@MichaelKSherman..I think I watched some of your posted videos on the Kiteflyers FB page last summer during some kite festivals...I noticed you had a YT channel..so I subscribed, I love kiting..I'm a newbie.. .newly retired, newly minted kite flyer..😎
When the ground is a bit frozen, I hit them several times with the sledgehammer to loosen them. Can also help to use a strap around the top to get them out. Great question.
Every now and then I sell one of my kites on Facebook Marketplace. Or, I help others sell their kites. Here's the link: facebook.com/marketplace/profile/100001000459452/?ref=permalink&mibextid=dXMIcH
Just wanted to say thanks for doing videos like these. Someday I want to fly big display kites so it's interesting to see the setup side for me.
Awesome, Andrew! Appreciate the feedback. And thanks for watching!

How do you get those circus tent spikes out of the ground? I'm moving to a larger kite and afraid that my current tie down solution is not enough.

what Kind of line do you use for these kites?
Hi Charles. Here's some info. I used Spectra. kitesup.org/2024/02/25/heres-what-youre-gonna-need-to-fly-that-big-showkite/
