- Coalition politics in South Africa has been rocky. And in the latest twist, the ANC says it's considering terminating the coalition pact with the EFF. The ANC and EFF entered into working agreements in various municipalities including major metros in Gauteng. The partnership is in a majority in Joburg where both sides have appointed MMCs but agreed to a minority mayor. But in his presentation to the ANCs National Executive Committee earlier this month the head of political education, David Makhura, said the party should review its coalition partnership with the EFF as it is more damaging than helpful.

What did the ANC hope for by giving EFF power? EFF must use this opportunity to the best of their ability and create a strong support base for themselves
