Strongly agree! Sometimes the cheap option is totally worth it, sometimes not even close.. and youd never know for sure otherwise by searching forums lol
Project Farm does a lot of research and applies it with a detailed scientific process that is easy for the consumer to make an extremely informed decision.
The thing I like about PF is that the average person can go out, duplicate his testing methodology and see if they get the same or differing results [not that I dispute his conclusions]. No multi-million dollar UL, CSA, NASA, Livermore National Laboratory needed.
I accidentally left one of my wife's car doors cracked open last week and she was late to work. I made it up to her by buying her a Gooloo 2000 at your recommendation. She had further battery issues and we had to use it twice before I got a chance to buy her a replacement battery. The Gooloo started the car as quickly as a new battery would while being way easier than jumper cables. Very impressive! Thank you!

Request, sorry if I missed it in a video, can you do a cold comparison? Where I live it routinely gets to be -30F at night so cold starts are crazy. The lithium packs definitely have a harder time in the cold. Ultimate test would be cold engine and cold battery pack, but understandably it might be hard to get a super cold engine. Sometimes on long outings I can't take the jump pack with me to keep it warm, so I have to leave it in the car. So far my battery has been doing well in the cold, but having one of these as backup would be a great stress relief.
I'm an old guy and all that rapid fire tech. talk goes right over my head. BUT, when you attached them to the vehicle and turned the key. THAT answered all my questions.
What happened to the Audew E-Power 155 you tested last? Shouldn’t it be on the comparison tests? It sure does look exactly the same as others tested in this video
I like the real world (actual jump start) tests he does the best, but found the new additions useful and interesting. Fun to see what they actually do. I was in Harbor Freight to buy the Viking, but thought I need to research these. So glad Project Farm did these! The Viking failed both times! Saved me from wasting time and money.
Bought a Gooloo 4000 based on this review last winter. Came back to say it saved my butt several times as I had a bad battery. Also helped out my neighbor. Awesome battery and review!
Same here. Unbelievably it saved me as well. Your review helped me make the Gooloo 4000 purchase and what do you know literally 2 days after purchase my car battery died!
@@Mickt6 They are only meant for emergencies - these tiny batteries are delivering a HUGE current for their size and will quickly die with constant use... :)
I've watched for the past 2 years. I have watched your content quality go up a tremendous amount. However the first videos were excellent in their own way. you don't sell out to sponsors, you make %100 unbiased and scientific videos. Not to mention, you read and respond to nearly %100 of your viewers who comment and note their suggestions to help make the videos even better. This my friend is what RUclips was made for. The dedication and time you take out of your day to upload informational content for people you've never met is quite astonishing. I and all of your viewers respect you for what you do and the time that you sacrifice for us. I would say that i wish that more youtubers were like you, but i know that it wouldn't ever happen. I actually prefer it to stay as it is because this is what makes you special. Keep up the impeccable work on these videos. I hope you and anyone who reads this has a outstandingly great day! 11/15/2020 2:50PM
You don’t want him to test manscaped? “Will this stand up to shearing sheep?” Or simply safe “can I rob my own house with the new security system?” It could be quite interesting.
Too bad their products don't last - mine died within a year after only one use - just avoid it & buy the NOCO - I know it seems expensive but it lasts longer than a few months and one use. A lot of mechanics I know have NOCO and use them every day. I was hugely skeptical given it's a lot more $$$ and bought a Gooloo instead - a total waste of money. I think the difference is the quality of the charge regulation, the Gooloo just overcharges itself and dies.
I work for AAA I have been using the Noco Gb70 for almost 3 years straight jump starting many cars a day...it is by far my favorite booster on the market loved this video thanks
I bought a NOCO GB40 after watching several videos on YT a couple of years ago. They've been in business since 1914. It hasn't failed to start our vehicles within 3-4 seconds. One of the best things about these jump starters is you don't have to jockey a second vehicle within battery cable distance to start your vehicle. If I ever need to start a vehicle without a battery, it will do it. Great video. Solid gold info. Thanks, Todd!
Very thorough reviews. Great job! One additional thing that I would love for you to test is to fully charge all of them and put them away for 1-3 months, then see how they work without topping off. This would simulate a very important use case for those who throw them in the trunk and expect them to work at an unexpected time. Some models (like the early Tacklife models) have a mechanical on-off switch that physically disconnects the batteries during storage. In theory, this might reduce the rate of discharge vs. an electronic pushbutton (which always bleeds off a little juice even when turned off). All batteries have some level of self-discharge, so it's a question of whether the physical on-off button makes a significant difference, or is it negligible.
I do the 3 month thing with my Shumacher Lithium Ion pack now. Have for 3-4 years. 3 months is no issue for a good unit. 6 months really either, stored in my trunk or floorboard. Start your rig/car/truck and and as soon as you are up and running you just recharge your battery pack for next time. I doubt 3-6 months storage for the GooLoo will be any harder than on my current 4 yr old Shumacher. Probably easier with new technology. I paid $80 for my Shumaker, 4 years ago, so about same price re: current vs old dollars. Gotta trust Project Farm. Better testing than I could ever do.
I have a gooloo and it has served me well for several years now. Talked my wife through a jump start once over the phone and got herself home. Just want to give a plug for something that really worked for us. Great videos!

I got one of the Gooloo 4000A units a while ago because of this video and have had it sitting in the back of the car waiting patiently. This morning it got it's chance and saved the day, it easily jump started the car. Thanks Project Farm for the testing and product advice!
EXCELLENT testing - I've been looking for jump starter testing by someone who actually knows what they are doing. Great job with various temperatures, meter testing, small 2.0 Ranger, and then the diesel tractor. This is the best and most comprehensive testing I've seen!
It reminds me of an old Sunn Vat 40 that I used to use in shop class back in high school. We had our choice of the Vat 40 (analog gauges) and Vat 60 (digital gauges). I always liked the 40.
@@ProjectFarm I have to expect a lot of your money goes into the testing equipment, not just the products tested. Thanks for what you do, please keep up the good work.

Probably more excitement than anything. Not only does he buy product but the HF employees get to see how their product works in more extreme conditions.
I bought their Vulcan jumpstarter and it has yet to let me down. I worked at a car repair shop and among the cars it's started included a long unstarted Mercedes diesel sedan. It's started everything I've needed to start. They're always on sale, I didn't pay list price. I have no complaints with it.
Actually actually mean the Harbour Freight staff, but yeah I wouldn’t be happy about it either that their product failed not once but twice. I have a few of their products and are happy with them but thanks to project farm, This is one product I noticed stay far far away from
@@paul62462 yeah, some harbor freight products r surprisingly good & some r not so hot. Great to have this channel to see honest reviews & testing. I'm forever promoting this channel when ppl r looking for info. Well deserved .
Chances are extremely high that the dislikes come from people who discovered that what they wanted to be real, was in fact not real. They may have seen their favorite brand not support claims made by the manufacturer. Another possibility, they are from people who do not want new information to enter their brain. Sadly, those sorts of people are everywhere. lol
I owe that Viking. It’s been reliable for me, but it’s fussy when hooking it up. I have to hook the clamps on to the battery before plugging into the booster if order for the light to turn green. I don’t know what that is about. It started my Farmall 756 gas on the second try.
Hi, if could do another car battery jumper unit test including those 2 units that I would call the winners of test 1 & 2 (audu ?) It was funny that Harbour freights failed so badly and I was about to buy 1
@@remyllebeau77 More stuff from sources other than China would indeed be nice. Also, details like clamp construction can be crucial. Who wants a clamp with plastic hinges that easily break easily on first use, rendering the jump box useless? Noco GB70, GB150, and Gooloo GP4000 have clamps with metal hinges.
I saw one of your earlier videos where you mentioned you were/are in the military. I wanted to thank you for your service, greatly appreciated. Because of your first video on jumpstarters, I bought the audew. Haven't had to use it yet, but I'm hoping it will be ready if my wife and son ever need it. with so many different variations ,your comparison reviews really help consumers on their decision making process. another round of reviews on the newer models that's available will be wonderful! Awhile back i bought a jump starter at Costco and it didn't jump my car when I needed it the most. Luckily i was able to return it and get a refund. It is best to go with the comparison reviewed like the ones you tested here. I think you are doing great service to the public!
My buddy and I both bought the Gooloo 4000A based on your review and we BOTH had an opportunity to use them within a couple months of buying them. He helped a coworker whose battery died in their parking lot (and caused that person to go buy another Gooloo). My car didn't completely shut off one day in the parking ramp (that's a "thing" now with some push button start vehicles, it seems) and drained the battery. Getting another vehicle in there to jump start would have been really challenging as the ramp was packed and busy that day. I whipped out my Gooloo, attached it to the terminals and my car started like I'd just installed a brand new battery! And it still had all 4 bars of charge! I was really singing your praises that day. When my car jumped to life using that little thing I was so impressed and happy. Thanks for all you do! You do more for people than all of Congress combined. :)
Man I swear you include harbor freight products in these test just for the comedy content. Thank you very much as always. Are we getting an oil filter test soon?
HF stuff is mostly good, but buyer beware. You don't always get your money worth for HF stuff since it's not worth the hassle to bring back a failed power tool and hope it's before the 90-day warranty!

Hello “Project Farm” from S.C. USA! I’ve been a subscriber for a long time and usually I’m not much of a commenter but, I just wanted You to know what a great service you provide. You do EXCELLENT work with your truly unbiased “Real World” testing methods. I never miss an episode. I’m always impressed with your mannerisms and by the way you get to the real world FACTS fast without all the boring, unnecessary info that most other Channels of this type seem to do. Also, I really like the bar graphs that you supply, they are very easy to understand at a glance. I’ve grown to trust you, as if we were real life friends. Now, whenever I need to buy some new product, I turn to your channel FIRST over “Consumer Reports” and any other type channel/website. Keep up the great work and thank you for all that you do! I’ll definitely be ordering one of your great looking T-Shirts to show my support and help spread the word of your AWESOME channel. 👍👍
The only negative thing I can say about your videos is that once they're released, Amazon generally sells out of the high performers pretty quickly. Took me nearly two weeks to get a Gooloo GP4000 in Canada. Awesome vids! Thanks for making them.
It's really nice to have someone who would put these units to actual real life load and stress tests. I've looked at some other sites that just tell you what they think and not show you in detail like this... KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK !!!
I have a Gooloo GP4000, I’ve not had to use it for a dead car battery. I’ve used it with success on my ATV before though, and also flashed a generator with it to help it produce power again. Love it. And as of 2024, you can find Walmart selling them for $79 or Amazon selling them for $99 pretty regularly, much cheaper than MSRP shown here

That noko has me really impressed...depending on the issue, sometimes the length of time that you're able to turn the engine over is more important than turning the engine quickly.
I bought the Gooloo for my new-to-me 10 year old used minivan after watching your video -- didn't think I'd need it so quickly as my battery was only 3 years old, but yesterday went to take the family out in the morning and oops, vans power slider just beeping at me trying close, and then no crank on the engine... the jump pack got me started in literally 30 seconds. Thank you for all these reviews! You're my first source for info when I'm making decisions!

Its been awesome to see how much this channel has grown and how much happier @Project Farm is in making his videos over the last couple years. Keep up the good work brotha! 👍
I have to thank you. I purchased a Gooloo 4000a based on your review/test. I had a Harbor Freight jump box/compressor gifted to me and used it once and a while and it always struggled to jump my Chevy Silverado 6.0L. Recently it stopped being able to jump it at all so I got the 4000a and HOLY CRAP, yesterday that 6.0 cranked harder than ever, better than a new battery.
I'd be curious what voltage these lithium packs out out when fully charged, and how much voltage a car's electronic system can tolerate before damage. New cars with sensitive electronics might not tolerate overly high voltages that well.
@@wingerrrrrrrrr Probably no more than 14volts, it's the amps that start the car, for the most part. At 7:07 the Gooloo 4000 says that it's 15v/10A, 12volt car jump start. So I'm not 100% sure, but I'd image 12v during a jump.
@@solhays for sure it'll drop during actual cranking, but it may be high when you first switch on the ignition. Think it may be 15V or more, maybe just measure it with a DMM after you take it off charge.
@@wingerrrrrrrrr I wouldn't be surprised if it were 15 or so, I imagine they'd get into a lot of trouble selling jump boxes that destroy car's electrical systems. But I certainly don't know and hope to not find out.
I was most impressed with the cranking ability of the Tacklife unit. Turned over the diesel tractor as well as the other vehicle both with a very strong spin. Perhaps it's time to give up my other 2 Chinesium "PCT Brands - CHARGEIT Jump Deluxe Total Emergency Kit" (the only thing "Emergency" about them was the flashlight providing a 3 dot [short], 3 dash [long], 3 dot [short] SOS flash with the flashlight, as both of the air pumps for tires failed on the very first use, so not even a low tire Emergency is covered by them). But they have started a Chevy diesel V8, then a 427 69 Stingray, then a Subaru Outback XT Limited (so with the WRX STi turbocharged engine) before having to be recharged. But the turning power of that Tacklife was darn impressive!
Well. For their hand tools I can say they hold up for what they are. Cheap tools with the same lifetime warranty as Snap-On and Matco. “Buy Once Cry Once” only works for non-lifetime tools/items. My two cents.
@@dutchynehtam Their corded drills and angle grinders aren't half bad either. Both of mine have held up to abuse for many years without skippin a beat.
Thank you for doing these reviews, one thing I'd love to see in this one, (though it might be a little work on your part) is a measurement of the RPM logged over time when you are cranking these engines. You could then overlay the data in a graph displaying RPM vs Time, so we could easily see which cranked the fastest vs which cranked the longest. A metric that I think would be very nice to see is which had the largest area under the curve. This would provide a nice display of total amount energy put into cranking, we might find out the winner wasn't the fastest or the longest but a good balance of both. I am an electrical/software engineer myself and happy to offer my help free of charge if you'd ever like it to improve these videos even more. I think you are doing an absolutely fantastic job though and thank you for doing it
these videos are actually really well edited.. I mean if I focus on something else for just 10 seconds I will have missed something. A lot of good information in a short amount of time big thumbs up!
First time seeing one of your videos and you are by far THE BEST!!! You get right to the point without senseless anecdotal talking which is always frustrating. You perform so many tests and give us so much essential information! Thank you!
I think this is my favorite of all of the jump pack videos. You tested them electronically, froze them and used it on a tractor. Getting to hear the starters crank is helpful
While you are working on that video, @@ProjectFarm, do please show the best *usual* ways to attach a rope or chain to a vehicle. This way you can minimize the chances of your vehicle getting junked and winding up in a FailArmy video, and maximize your chances of being viewed as a savior.
@@metaxaanabeer Agree completely, unfortunately both of those items are way more expensive than the alternatives, which will make the decision for many folks especially if they are unaware of the effectiveness and safety of the new stretchy/soft gear. It’s worth it, people. Save up for it.
Items that are intended for vehicle recovery are rated, and will have a large tag permanently attached with the rating numbers. Commercial/industrial rigging gear will have a WLL rating (working load limit) number of lbs. which will be 20% or a bit less of the tensile/breaking strength. Many recovery items for us average citizens only have the much higher tensile/break strength rating on the tag. Failure testing has already been done for us. If, however, you would like a comparison of all the other performance factors/ease of use, there are hundreds of videos by people who use this gear very often, and have much experience with most of the different types. For one guy to generate the real world information you need would take a long time to accomplish, and probably damage a few vehicles during the testing. And be expensive. Lots of people are injured (a few killed) by improper use of recovery gear. Please research the safe ways and the danger factors. Oh, and if a piece of gear doesn’t have a rating, it’s not intended for recovery. Do not use.
I have a good story: Because of your last tests, I equipped all 4 of my vehicles with the Goo Loo 3000 jump starters. I believe the 2000 won your shootout. They use top shelf Lithium Polymer batteries instead of Lithium Ion. Iron are junk. Polymer has the highest energy density of all of them by a long shot. Another advantage of LI PO is they hold their charge almost forever. And on that note: My wife's two year old Renegade battery dropped dead and her jump starter, which had been charged 6 months earlier across Winter months, still had four bars and fired it right up. I couldn't believe that little thing did that. It made me laugh. Glad I watched your show. I bought a 4000 for my shop for their lot cars that go dead and they just love it. I think Goo Loo is the best out there.
Fantastic video as always. I definitely planning on getting either the Imazing or Gooloo for my sister for Christmas. Something that will make sure that she never get's stranded. :) I know other people have already said it, but so many of us appreciate these videos. Something can have 4.8 stars on Amazon, but you never really know if all those are real, or fake, or just people who are just happy with whatever. Testimonials are so subjective. I have an engineering mindset and really appreciate all the time and effort and care you take to make all of these reviews as consistent and accurate as possible.
Everyone needs to be careful normally when Chinese brand gets a good review within a couple months they switch out the batteries with cheap ones and sell it for the same price.
Most "reviews" and lists of "Bests" seem to be almost press releases from the companies. I like the way you actually test the devices in depth. Much appreciated.
I've had one of those smaller gooloo's for almost 3 years now. I top it up once every 6 months or so cause it does seem to have some self discharge issues, but otherwise it has jump started everything I have connected it to no problem, usually spinning the engine over faster than it would have on a regular car battery. I think I paid about $60-80 on Amazon back then. It's mind blowing how cheap and small these things are, yet have no problem jump starting a car....
Again. One of the most comprehensive and unbiased channels on the internet. Great content. I've used your testing and controls to make better decisions on purchases from epoxies to drill bits and cutting/grinding wheels. Please keep up the great work. Thanks.
SO unless you carry it everywhere with you in yor back pocket, it's worthless, that is my EXACT POINT. HOW MANY times have you had to jump anything in 10 years, really ? ME- once WASTE OF MONEY
This was a cool test. Somewhat dissapointing to see all the manufacturers fall short of their ratings. I've been using a Noco GB150 for years. At the time it was their biggest and newest jump starter. Comes with a nice case and has added features I found very useful as a mechanic. Never came across a vehicle I couldn't start. That largest was a dual battery F350 diesel. I'd definitely be interested in a round 3 test of the newest starters. Manufacturers will continue to come up with new items with outlandish claims for you to test. Thanks Todd @Project Farm
The Gooloo is pretty good I have one little different design but it can jump start like any vehicle with only like 20% battery life left it’s amazing how well it works. I’ve used it on many vehicles and it works even on the biggest diesel truck I’ve tested as well.
No wonder that NOCO runs so long cranking that engine, with those high gauge cables. Thinner cables = more resistance = more voltage drop. Lower voltage = lower power.
However, they work good when they are supposed to. We have one at work, works great. So my boss bought another one. The new one stopped charging. We’ve even left it on charge for a few days and nothing. With the same charger we charge the old one. It’s a noco gb150

I was in Harbor Freight to buy the Viking, but thought I need to research these. So glad Project Farm did these! The Viking failed both times! Saved me from wasting time and money.

Thanks so much! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks and you are welcome!
Thanks for the video idea.
You could also test a diesel pickup with a cold engine. it would require some pre-heat then start up.
Good point.

Harbor freight doesn’t do too bad in these competitions overall for purposes intended.
Harbor Freight: oooooff

I am convinced that early, and maybe most, dislikes are bots, not real views.
Hate to be selfish but, I'm gonna need a round three of this! The jump starter tests are so good!
Hi, if could do another car battery jumper unit test including those 2 units that I would call the winners of test 1 & 2 (audu ?) It was funny that Harbour freights failed so badly and I was about to buy 1

What's the point unless there are other brands you want to see tested? Personally, I would like to see more stuff not made in China.
@@remyllebeau77
More stuff from sources other than China would indeed be nice. Also, details like clamp construction can be crucial. Who wants a clamp with plastic hinges that easily break easily on first use, rendering the jump box useless? Noco GB70, GB150, and Gooloo GP4000 have clamps with metal hinges.

*Strokes his Gooloo and says well done my precious* lol. It's always a great day to see a product you bought do well on Project Farm! Fantastic video thankyou!
While the Gooloo is better Chinese manufacturing since it can meet performance metrics, there is the question of longevity and durability.
with so many different variations ,your comparison reviews really help consumers on their decision making process. another round of reviews on the newer models that's available will be wonderful! Awhile back i bought a jump starter at Costco and it didn't jump my car when I needed it the most. Luckily i was able to return it and get a refund. It is best to go with the comparison reviewed like the ones you tested here. I think you are doing great service to the public!
Thanks!

I have to thank you. I purchased a Gooloo 4000a based on your review/test. Thank you very much! I'm very impressed with it too
I'd be curious what voltage these lithium packs out out when fully charged, and how much voltage a car's electronic system can tolerate before damage.
Great point

Agree completely, unfortunately both of those items are way more expensive than the alternatives, which will make the decision for many folks especially if they are unaware of the effectiveness and safety of the new stretchy/soft gear.
Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic video as always. I definitely planning on getting either the Imazing or Gooloo for my sister for Christmas. Something that will make sure that she never get's stranded. :)
I know other people have already said it, but so many of us appreciate these videos.
The various names these products get rebranded as are amazing.
Roll the dice and pick words, you got a product name for your imported goods.
Thank you!
Tacklife makes good stuff, usually.
@@deletdis6173 Agreed!
Everyone needs to be careful normally when Chinese brand gets a good review within a couple months they switch out the batteries with cheap ones and sell it for the same price.
Thanks for doing all these tests ,way better than reviews on Amazon!
Thank you!
It really amazes me that someone at Amazon hasn't called someone at RUclips and gotten him banned...
Most "reviews" and lists of "Bests" seem to be almost press releases from the companies. I like the way you actually test the devices in depth. Much appreciated.
Thanks so much!
Bruh I love these videos. Best use of the scientific method and bench testing, thank you for what you do!
Glad you like them!
That's awesome!
I couldn’t tell you how you’ve influenced so many of my purchases! Thank you good sir and many blessings to you throughout the New Year!
Awesome! Thank you!
ME- once
WASTE OF MONEY
@@gocanada9749 Don't know what the hell is up you but the one I got sees action at least twice a month.
Thanks for reviewing these! Your unbiased opinion and attention to the data are greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
Thanks Todd @Project Farm
you must be able to read my mind! i was just looking into getting one! soo excited to see the results!
Awesome! Perfect timing!
Don't get a Gooloo, they don't last more than 6 months even with minimal usage.
I feel I will go with the noco brand
Good job.. No beating around the bush.. Straight to the point and good comparable results..
Thanks!
He's a simple man, he just needs a few jump starters to make his day
Thanks for watching!
The Gooloo is pretty good I have one little different design but it can jump start like any vehicle with only like 20% battery life left it’s amazing how well it works. I’ve used it on many vehicles and it works even on the biggest diesel truck I’ve tested as well.
Thanks for the feedback.
No wonder that NOCO runs so long cranking that engine, with those high gauge cables. Thinner cables = more resistance = more voltage drop. Lower voltage = lower power.
Thanks for the feedback.
However, they work good when they are supposed to. We have one at work, works great. So my boss bought another one. The new one stopped charging. We’ve even left it on charge for a few days and nothing. With the same charger we charge the old one. It’s a noco gb150
@@vladmayster6419 watch his past video on these jump starts the other noco did terrible especially for the price.
and it has a bunch a good reviews
Idk if 200 dollars justifies this version thats actually good unless you have a huge engine
I have an Autowit that I bought a couple of years ago, after seeing it on Scotty Kilmer.
Has not disappointed, but often needs 2 or 3 tries. I prefer charging it via wall outlet and USB chord.
Excellent video!!!
Thanks!
