Love the additional commentary on outside perspectives of keywords and certain cards (specifically the death card in your last deck). I typically don't read for others, but I definitely take other people into consideration when selecting a deck to carry with me. How interesting. 🤔 Also, I'm stoked to learn a new term: Pips plus (adjective): a tarot deck that depicts pips with additional illustrations. Term coined by Laura from aquamarine18 tarot & books. 😁
Yay! What great choices. Totally loved to hear your criteria and getting the what’s in my bag at the beginning was awesome. Thanks for doing the VR. 😊❤
Really enjoyed seeing your thought process about this. My own VR is sat on my hard drive waiting to be edited - The Fifth Spirit is on my list too. Deliberately using mass market or easy-to-replace decks is very sensible, I have damaged a couple of indie decks before but thankfully not beyond the point of usability!
💜Looking forward to your VR. I did damage one indie one that was only salvaged by a frankly quite messy trim job (and 'salvaged' is debatable -- I use it, but I also had to cut some of the art off, and it's uneven). I don't tend to be overly precious about things - my decks definitely look shuffled/used - but there are a handful of waaaay OOP decks in my collection that I'd be devastated to not be able to use.
Interesting! Thank you! I don't need an everyday carry deck at all 😄 I love to pick different decks ever day. But, after watching Marlene's video, I keep thinking about making a video about my process. It's inspiring to hear your criteria as well!
I loved seeing your options, and how you decided to pick what would be an everyday carry. I think I have similar thoughts, but slightly different in some lol, so I might have to do this tag soon! While I also didn't own any of the decks you showed, I did like how they could be versatile and you considered a lot of criteria.
When you talked about Naturescapes not being too familiar in terms of imagery I visibly nodded lol. I was thinking that an everyday carry for me *must* have a very traditional look (so RWS it is) because people who aren't really into tarot enjoy finding at least one card they have seen once in their life, if that makes sense. Thanks for sharing!
💜Yes I agree - I feel like when people who aren't tarot readers themselves want a reading, they have a sense of "what tarot is" and want to see it. Conversely I've had tarot reading friends request I use particular decks for them, and it's often the less conventional ones (or ones we both own).
@@aquamarine18 I have a tiny one like that and I don’t even try to rifle it. I just over hand it with two fingers lol. You could also try just putting them in a bag like charms if you are careful 🤣.
I loved hearing your thought process on what to carry around! I agree about the keyword issue for sure. I think I’ll use a deck for others if it has multiple keywords, but not just one single keyword, excepting Thoth I guess. Now, if I was in a more intimate setting where I had time to converse about the nuances, then sure, but otherwise, I’d rather not.
Ooh this is an interesting distinction! 💜 The only tarot deck I think I have with multiple keywords is Majestic Earth, which has 4 keywords on each, plus astrological glyphs. I think I would prefer that for others than a single one too!
Tarot of Trees, Crow Tarot pocket edition and Tarot of the Spirit are a few of the decks I carry in my backpack. Not all at once though lol. Morgan's Tarot is another one I carry at times simply becuse I find it funny. I also carry an oracle deck along with tarot sometimes. The Wild Goddess Oracle is one, it is smaller in size, messages on the back and mass market. This is a great tag and I found a few decks to add to my wishlist! :)
Oooh I haven't even thought of an everyday carry oracle! 💜 I might need a slightly bigger everyday carry bag for that if I wanted multiple decks. I do often bring my little Whispering Woods oracle to the park and camping with me; it fits in a pocket.
What kind of person hates trees???? Next World is one of my favourites. Gentle Tarot is my February deck. I can't remember the last time I threw a deck in my bag, I do miss doing that.
I enjoyed this. In the end you mentioned 4 different decks. Do they all fit in that small carry pouch, or do you choose to carry only one of them at a time, and if so, how do you make that choice? I like all the various choosing points you mentioned and want to sit and consider my own, then share them. This is a good tag.
I saw you posted a VR + look forward to watching!💜I definitely can only carry one deck in my pouch, and choice is a combination of season and mood really. Sometimes a deck just 'calls to me,' or if I know I'll be reading for a particular person that might inform things. ...this tag has me looking at a larger pouch! Mine is a 2L size.
There are a few kinds of tins - the one I did puts the image right on the lid, but there is also an option to make a sticker to put on the tin. My tin that I custom made and ordered one of cost $20 CAD. Definitely not cheaper than a tuck box! They are quite sturdy - I have never had a lid pop off or anything, and I just throw it in my bag and carry it around. 💜

💜Pips plus! It might be my favourite 'system,' really -- RWS-infused but without the impaled three of swords. 😄
The extra mini is super cute. That one and the tree tarot would be my suitors for a small bag from your lovely selection 😊
💜
🤣🤣🤣 hates trees? You're excused. Very good points. Gotta love minis! 😁
Right?! Who hates trees, really. 💜

I loved making this one! 💜 Also you got me thinking about whether I might want a slightly bigger bag for everyday carry. 😄

Catching up on VRs to this tag, and I found myself nodding along to your criteria for an EDC!
💜💜

Oh yeah! I forgot about Dufomantic. I bet that’s great for everyday. How cute would it be to pull out that mini marseille 😍
💜The mini is so cute. I find mini size a bit of a shuffling challenge but its cuteness (and function for big spreads on small tables) outweighs that.

Oh, also, very curious about the MPC tins. How sturdy are they? Are they cheaper than the tuckboxes?

I vote cut to bottoms and sides down!
