Loved the beautiful views along the ride, such a nice route. Really interesting to see the aftermath of the firefighters' hard work battling the fire too. Thanks for sharing the experience-awesome video.
This is one of my favorite rides. It's fairly close to home and has lots of twists and turns. This was only one front of the fire and the report said that there were still some 1000 people assigned. Thanks for checking this out.
Oh my, Rob...that pepto bismal color is not something I have ever seen in our travels...last year was our first experience with the forest fires...just don't have them here...
Hello Rob! What a day. The only thing that could habe made it better would be a Bluetooth headset! We well my friend, and keep spending your days on that beautiful machine! - Frank
I have tried riding with a headset and have come to the conclusion that I don't need anything that takes my attention away from the road. But thanks! I do need to get out more.
Hi Frank, I feel the same way as Rob, I receive a brand-new Sena modular helmet with a KLR purchase and tried it out, the modular part I kind of liked, but I ride to get away from the world and getting a phone call, message, or music in the middle of my "Zen moment" defeats the purpose of the ride. I can see where it could be beneficial at times, so I keep it around. Hard to hear with ear plugs too.
Thanks Rick! I was so glad that the fire didn't make it to Barton Flats. The folks in Angeles Oaks and 7 Oaks are also very happy. For me, I was just happy to be able to ride one of my favorite roads.
Dane! Yes. Three large fires near me but they did not threaten me at all. My favorite mountain roads however, were all closed with only Hwy 38 reopening so far. I hope all is well with you and the heat isn't getting to you too badly.
Looked like a great day to get out and check on what's left of the fires Rob, the big Suzuki sounds wonderful, I do miss the big motor Vstrom. Are intense heat and SW fires now seem insignificant compared to what's going on elsewhere. Crazy year, stay safe.
Thanks Dave. It was hot here but not Phoenix hot. I was glad to be able to ride one of my favorite roads and was very happy that they were able to stop the fires where they did. From all the activity it's clear that there is still some concern. It does all seem almost trivial compared to the devastation In North Carolina and the threat right now to Florida.
@@OneOldManRiding That is just insane Frank, I'm glad that you and Patrick are doing well, Patrick's videos really showed the isolation and devastation in his area. Next week in my corner the 100's look to finally be gone, and cool crisp 90's move in. Last summer was bad and this summer much worse, and I'm a native Arizona boy. I hope you and your family are safe with Milton on the way.

Once again, a nice ride. Thank you.
Thanks! It was good to be back riding one of my favorite roads.

FRANK !!!
Good to see they contained the fire and that area was spared. I didn't make it up there this year unfortunately. Thanks for the update, Rob!!

Hello Dave, crazy indeed, Patrick and I are fifty miles apart and trying to find a route to a spot for lunch that's passable! - Frank

my goodness that burned for a long time!
Yes. It was looking good for a few days but it flared up again. Even today it shows as 98% contained with more than 200 people still assigned.
@@ParallelCamper 😳😳😳
Your shirt looks very similiar to the Bohn Airtex shirts...I saw similiar shirts elswhere and folks told us they purchased them on Amazon...
Similar (from Amazon) but I'm sure it's not of the same quality.

looks like they did a great job containing the fire...did it smell smoky at all?
There were a few spots where you could smell the smoke.
